Loving this Rust Bucket series, mate. The long format video truly highlights the work you put into the piece. That anvil turned out great and would make for an excellent prize at the next blacksmithing competition, just saying. Cheers.
Super job mate, I really like the shape of the stand. Subbed to Midnight Art and I'm looking forward to seeing more wood turning. I think I like this long form rather than the quick edits, it's more informative and enjoyable. Thanks for this one, I really enjoyed watching.
Beautiful work, dude! It looks amazing! Nicely done!!! 😃 And now you've got the 38th subscriber in the other ch. 😁 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Just a tip, you shouldn’t polish your wood pieces when adding any kind of finish, varnish, stain, or wax. Wood is porous and the finer you sand it, the finer the sawdust and you end up filling in most of the pores in the wood and it won’t take the treatment as well. You should, in the future, stop sanding at 150-180 grit. Also small tip, when filling a crack with shaving and glue, apply the shavings first. And use finer shavings unless you like the look of big shavings. But definitely put the shavings in first. Other than that, great restoration. Looks great👍🏻
Maybe it’s because I’m so used to it but I feel like the quicker editing is more “your” brand. I sped the video up 1.5x and it felt more familiar to me. No matter what you decide to go with I will still watch it, just might tweak it a bit so the viewing is more comfortable. Good work on the anvil leg!
It feels more natural for me to do the fast edits too, but looking at similar videos in the niche, people seem to favor longer videos. That's why I decided to try them for a while. I hope in time I'll become skilled enough to make longer edits not seem so boring... Thanks for sticking around! Cheers!
IMO this slow paced format is better but you might loose some people or get less watch time. However I think it is also good to sort of contrast with your shorts, so that people can see both spectrum of a restoration video
You asked for opinions, here’s mine! I like the slower/longer form, but I feel this video might be a BIT too slow and I worry that after watching 3-4 li,e this I would lose interest. But something in between, like this but maybe 3-4 minutes shorter, would in my opinion be ideal
Isn't this actually called an ASO (Anvil shaped object), as anvil are a lot bigger than this and also weigh a huge amount too. ASO and anvil are common misunderstandings.
@@TheSmallWorkshop anvils are all a standard size and weight, if it looks like an anvil, but isn't that size and weight, then they're technically classed as an anvil shaped object (ASO). This was told to me by some blacksmiths that I used to know, as well as an instructor at a farming college. A lot of people don't realise that anvils are a certain size and weight.
the base can be screwed to a workbench by replacing the treaded rod with a longer piece. But for now I will keep it mobile, like antique jewelers vises were, for easy repositioning.
Horrible
So satisfying to watch. What a beautiful project!! ❤️
Thanks so much! 😊
Аккуратно разметить центр, потом промазать кернером и просверлить отверстие не по центру - супер!
LOL! Good eyes! I noticed it myself, it is what it is, what can I do after the fact...
I'm glad you're steady putting out videos. Enjoy watching them.
Thank you Pavel, you are probably one of my oldest viewers! Thanks for sticking around for so long!
The longform looks great dude! When do you plan on making the rest of the chess set? 😂
LOL!
ahh so shiny! I love seeing that transformation!
Thanks!
One of a kind
I love the videos where you restore a piece of metal and make a wood base. It’s best of both worlds. Excellent work and video . Keep em coming!
Thank you very much! Will do!
It's great to see you're continuing this series.
Thanks! I like restoring small stuff. I've collected them over the years with that in mind, but never got to them.
Nice to meet you again. I really like your videos, your work is very good. It's a pleasure to watch your videos and your work is amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice restoration and stand.
Thank you very much!
I am new ro your channel, but i like the longer format
Thanks and welcome!
New here. Those 2 failed dismounts made me SMASH the subscribe button!! 🤣🤣 I love that you left those in the video. That stand is pretty damn epic!
Thank you and welcome!
Excellent work!!! (as usual 🙂)
Thank you!
Would love to see a project with a mix of metals Wood and Resin work
I will try experimenting with resin, it opens a lot of new posibilites when restoring or crafting a tool.

Thanks 🔥
keep up the great work!
Thank you!
This is art❤
:) Thanks!
Yo quiero uno!!! Artista !!!!
Is this Anvil small or you're a giant?
It's far away.
Yes
It's actually technically called an anvil shaped object or ASO.
Slow gets my vote!
Thank you!
Magnificent.
Thanks!

😁

Thank you and thanks for the sub!
I don't think it had a leg. I think it was meant to be held in the vice.
Could be, I haven't thought of that. I like it more with a leg though, more mobile and I can rotate it while working.

Thank you for the tips mate! You are right and I will do that on my next turning. Cheers!
It's a beautiful hammer
soothing
Looks kinda like a chess figure, nice! ^^ And I loved the horse-joke! XD
Thanks! 😄

Fun, just a little bit too careless there
Thanks!

Thanks! If the viewers like it I'll keep making it, no matter the watch time or subs loss.
I liked the comments throughput the video
Thank you! Some people don't, some find them cringe... I find them cringe sometimes too :D
After finding center and center punching it you still drilled off center.
Yup, I realized that but it was too late... Good eyes!

Buenos dias el proyecto es muy bonito, pero yo no uviera quitado tanta madera, recibe un cordial saludo.
art work ...
That stand is a king! (get it? like the chess piece… anyway great job!)
Lol, thanks!
🤩👍👍👍
definitely prefer the slow edit
Multumesc!
Gotta admit, haven't expected a giant chess piece as an anvil stand..
It's inspired by a French antique jewelers anvil, I liked the shape.
I m in the end
" Noooooooo😮😮😮😮😮😮!!!"
👍👍❤❤
The mountain churned and produced a mouse🙄
What is this? An anvil for ants?
For ants that can't read good!
Приколист да, ты?😅
You wear gloves a lot while using rotating equipment 😵💫😬
Thank you for your concern! I only used them during polishing, cause the part gets hot fast.
@@TheSmallWorkshop fair enough. Good to be careful and set a good example for other tinkerers. Thanks for another great vid.
brushed finish > polished
I liked it more too! Cheers!
slow paced please
Thanks! This seems the general consensus!
I can always tell when it’s an American measuring lol inches is the dead giveaway even most Canadians use metric (some even use it for building…ew)
😂😂😂😂😅😅😂😂
very fast click

You lost me there mate! I've never heard of ASO. Part of me feels like you are joking. Everywhere I've looked they are called jewelers anvils.

looks good but useless, you should have made the base square, then you can put it in the vise to hold it steady.
or screw the base to the workbench.
