Another great video. I do question the probiotic products though given we barely know anything about the human biome with all the research that has been done. I would be surprised if anyone knows what bacteria are good for fish health and if these companies are even capable of producing commercial amounts of un-tainted bacteria. Please advise me if I’m on the wrong track.

Fair point. However, this peer reviewed article expresses my thoughts on the benefits: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20219683/
Specifically, "The involvement of probiotics in nutrition, disease resistance and other beneficial activities in fish has proven beyond any doubt."
Here is a full article which discusses the benefits in more detail: www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fmicb.2018.02429/full
Now, whether or not aquarium companies use any of the probiotic strains mentioned in these articles I do not know as their products are typically proprietary.

@@HumblefishReef thanks for the links! I have no doubts of the importance of probiotics. My concern is whether the probiotics in the bottles are good or possibly negative by actually creating an imbalance. As much as I disagree with Paul B on his non QT stance I absolutely agree with his feeding methods to increase the micro biome in the fish gut. However is there not a risk of introducing disease through fresh or frozen seafood?

@@insanity4224 Only viruses and bacteria can survive freezing. Parasites and worms cannot.

@@insanity4224 Yes, exactly. Also, flukes (and other worms) cannot surviving the freezing process. I freeze clams, mussels, oysters, etc. for at least 24 hours before feeding them.
