This is a few of the takes i did for the music video. I thought it would be a good way to talk about different lens how lens choice changes how i do things. also, i wanted to mention i did not do all the steadicam work on this video. i did the shots that where on the roof here. this was shot with an arri alexa mini Lf Hopefully useful for other steadicam operators, directors of photography, and camera operators as well as anyone into movie making, filmmaking, cinematography, gimbals and camera stabilizers. Shot with a insta360 one x, M-1 volt steadicam with a g70-x arm.

I am a complete layperson, but I have a very deep fascination with Steadicam shots. Just love your work. I noticed you were shooting with an Alexa mini LF. It seems like people looking into cinematography from the outside always think, "RED. RED. RED." But of the movies I've watched recently, ALL OF THEM were shot on ARRI Alexa, except for one that was shot on RED. I find this very curious. Clearly there is something about the ARRI cameras that people prefer.

I’m getting a steadicam and noticed you’re wearing what looks to be a Fawcett Exovest. Have you used other steadicam vest, or do you prefer this one?

I do use it, and I like it a lot. But if I was going to do it again, I would get a back mount vest.

No, it means the arm attachesto something that brings the weight to your back. Insted of a front mount vest like most of them. Check out the Klassen flex harness or the flowcine xspine.

Interesting BTS as always. I know that "who's going to solo next?" situation, I was allowed 2 takes, one for wides and one for close-ups on an Xmas carol jazz quartet and you feel like the complete amateur that I am when you are on the wrong talent. Editing was a nightmare when they played live and at different tempos on the two takes.

This is actually a Alexa mini LF its my favorite right now. I have not shot with a Komodo yet but I am excited to. I thought about getting one when I was drunk one night but I can't justify the cost. hahaha

My monitor has a record function, but it is terrible. The other one is done with a insta 360 camera. They are a lot of fun
