    Judy, thank you for taking the time to do this in detail and respectfully. It's always refreshing to have my views challenged - I believe it's healthy for the space and both of our communities.
    The carnivore diet has brought healing to many with autoimmune issues, and the community's commitment is truly remarkable. I'm grateful to have been part of it and still resonate with many of our shared values.
    I've said for a long time that if something works for you, keep doing it. An animal-based diet with fruits and honey works for many, myself included.
    I'd love to record a podcast with you or any other carnivore physician, who also would be willing to share their blood work at this level of detail.

    I stopped following Saladino when he came into the carnivore space and started lecturing long term carnivores that they were doing it wrong. Imagine the hubris of coming into a community and not listening to the stories of the people who had healed themselves by unsung the carnivore diet for 10 to 20 years. Those long term carnivores explored every way of doing carnivore and found that fatty red meat made them feel their best. But he would not listen, and even lectured people who were trying to tell him about their own lived experience. He doubled down on the “need” for organs, ate too much organ meat, then said carnivore “didn’t work”.

    Hey Judy, appreciate the video. I'm 56 and have weight trained 39 years. I'm very active (train 4-5 days a week and play pickleball 4-5 days a week). I went on the Carnivore diet almost 3 years ago. I was very strict, ate high fat, and bought local cows, fluctuating between grass fed/finished and grass fed, grain finished. I live in Alberta, Canada and we are well known for the quality of our beef. I'm also not a foodie so eating Carnivore is easy. I can eat the same thing all the time no problem.
    Anyways, I had the same issues with cramping and palpitations that Dr. Saladino had. I added electrolytes at the 1 year mark and things still did not resolve themselves. In those 18 months I didn't cheat. It was fatty meat, eggs, and some dairy (hard cheese and butter mostly). I love eating Carnivore, and I really wanted it to work. I tried to allow my body to balance, but it never did.
    Having weight trained as long as I have I've had cramping issues, but nothing like what I experienced in those 18 months. I had them in muscles that had NEVER had cramps before, like lats, shoulders and lower abs (which were the worst).
    I was actually really disappointed with Paul when he went to fruit and honey but after 18 months I decided I needed to try something different.
    I added in fruit. Berries, kiwi and watermelon. All my issues cleared up in the first week. I also seemed to keep all the benefits of Carnivore. It's now been a year of being meat based and still no issues. I think I've had one cramp in the last year in a calf muscle.
    I have my own theory as to why I need some carbohydrates and it has to do with muscle glycogen. I believe that because I'm so active that I use up all my muscle glycogen a dozen times a week. If there are no carbs to reload the muscle with afterwards then the muscles become electrolyte deficient because electrolytes use the carbs as a carrier to insert themselves in the muscle.
    I agree that Paul went overboard on carbs but I also think highly active people do need some carbs in their diet.

When I introduced a small amount of carbs, all these issues vanished and I feel so good now, 15 months in. I'm 30, I eat omad 1kg beef, 5 eggs, a piece of parmigiano cheese, a piece of butter, a cup of bone broth and then a bowl of greek yoghurt with some honey and 2 bananas. I feel so damn good. I believe that's around 60 grams of carbs a day and I refuse to believe that is bad for me.

The vet basically told me my cat was going to die. I fed her nothing but raw ground beef for five weeks. My cat is fine now and I feed them homemade ground beef, chicken and salmon. I realized my cats were eating better than I was. I stopped eating processed food, chips and other junk food and started eating the same fresh, homemade meats, that I feed my cats. In six months, I lost 15 pounds. A checkup three months ago, showed my bloodwork and blood pressure are fine. Low cholesterol and normal blood pressure. No sign of diabetes. I am slowly eliminating as much non meat from my diet as I can. Instead of buying a loaf of bread for toast, I am buying eggs, etc. Thank you for posting this.

    Step 1: Eat an insanely unnatural amount of organs, until acquiring vitamin A toxicity
    Step 2: Revert to sugar/carb addiction, which appears to fix problems from Step 1 as it blocks nutrient uptake, thus slowing down the hypervitaminosis. Ignore the fact that it skews uptake of all the OTHER vitamins too, causing all sorts of other problems both short and long-term
    Step 3: Instead of fixing the root problem of organ overconsumption, double down and start an ORGAN SUPPLEMENT BRAND so more people can follow the same confused path

    • @disinformationworld9378
      @disinformationworld9378 10 дней назад

      Why does he need to be debunked if he is correct? Go look at a chart of obesity rates before 1960. Look at carb consumption rates. Go on, what does it show? People ate plenty of carbs and obesity rates were effectively zero. Even in the 1970’s obesity was extremely low. The diet intervention was not carbs it was ultra-processed oils. Look at oil consumption rates and then revisit obesity rates. What does it show? An actual correlation between obesity and seed oils-NOT carbs. Carb consumption dropped by 2% from 2000-2020 and obesity rates doubled. That’s called negative correlation. No one in keto space is explaining what happened pre-1960 or explaining this at all. They are completely oblivious to this obvious data. Good luck “debunking” it. I learned this from Dr Cate Shanahan not from Paul.

    • @disinformationworld9378
      @disinformationworld9378 10 дней назад

      Paul cannot be debunked because he’s correct. It took me probably dozens of hours of research to figure this stuff out. The final nail-*slamdunk* proof is pre-1960’s obesity rates and carb consumption levels. And if you think it’s processed sugars well it’s not that either which is measurable and is part of the “carb” consumption levels. In fact processed sugars have dropped the last two decades (see “sugar free” soft drinks for example).

    • @disinformationworld9378
      @disinformationworld9378 10 дней назад

    Throughout my long low carb journey I’ve noticed that highly active people tend to side with Paul, while people who don’t exercise often or at all benefit from zero carb. Physiologically we can be extreme athletes without carbohydrates but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s ideal. I spent 4 years keto and 6 years carnivore and then decided to experiment a bit, and as an extremely active person I’ve found that some carb consumption in the form of fruit & honey targeted around hard workout is incredibly beneficial for recovery, sleep, and hypertrophy. This is what Paul is talking about. These are facts. But ultimately I think self experimentation is best. Take the time to see what works for you and always keep your mind open.

This was long after reading the REAL carnivore book by Shawn Baker who knows how to create a construct and live it. Paul has never stuck to a single construct in his existence in this space. Every time you turn around, he re-invents himself. He also cherry picks studies to agree with his diet in the moment. I unfollowed him a few years ago when he went looney tunes. Fructose is not a good thing to fool around with, and I don't care how many studies you can quote. nit picking someone's bloodwork n=1 does not prove that fruit, raw honey, raw dairy is "bad." Remember the days when eggs, especially the yolks, were "bad?" Becareful of dogma.... I understand the fear of ultraprocessed foods, industrial lunricants disguised as "good" oils, and refined carbohydrates. Not to be dogmatic, but I'd try to stay away from those products. Look at the source of production and marketing. I also understand carb addiction (recovering addict writing this comment). But a fruit from the farmer's market in season? raw honey from a local bee keeper? raw dairy from a regenerative farm? I'm not afraid of those sources of life as a recovering carb addict. I know: I'm n=1. I just hope everyone finds their own path to holistic health. It makes the world a better place when we have a healthy society.

    Well done, Judy! I think Bart Kay and Ken Berry have also questioned Paul's blood sugar: the A1C doesn't test for blood fructose. Paul seems to think his blood sugar is low and fine based on A1C, but what he's consuming is not mostly a glucose source - it's mostly a fructose source or sources. His glycation could be substantial - this could be a cause of the inflammation you're guessing he's suffering (or a contributing factor).

      Good comment, many carni zealots do not realize that the "high carb SAD" they are coming from is actually a high fat diet. Mostly pufa. The mixture of pufa and refined carbs is one of the worst imaginable concoctions for the human body. Foods like that have probably already led them down the road of insulin resistance, so then when going keto/carni, the body is in a great state to burn a bunch of fat and ketones because ketosis is just that, a state of physiological insulin resistance. Soon as you flip that switch, you suddenly have energy in the form of fat and ketones, whereas before you were struggling to produce ATP from fat or carbs due to mitochondrial dysfunction. As you are on said diet longer, you become more insulin sensitive so your body is hating you for only running on fat and protein. You just end up reinforcing adaptive, stress metabolism pathways. Yes, adrenaline feels good. That simple

    *Paul recently had a guy come through his house in Costa Rica and found mold on all of the wooden cabinets/fixtures. In this video it appears Judy may have hinted that Paul's body is fighting something. Could be from the mold? Paul said he was going to rip out all the wood in his house, so I wonder if that might change some of these results in the future*

    What a spectacular video. I was one of those people that under ate on Lion diet for 18 months and finally derailed. Tried Paul’s recommendations and Put on 36 pounds, really discouraging, and felt Awful from all old gut issues and inflammation returning. Back on Lion for 3 weeks and finally feeling better, and off the sugar drive train. Whew! Monitoring protein intake now much more closely, this is for my Health now and not scale victory. Know your “WHY”- your health ALWAYS must come before a number on a scale! Take my mistakes and learn from them. Be gentle with changes and patient with your body, as you have probably put it through the wringer. Be well Friends ❤

      @Indigo, I’m so sorry that happened. :( When adding carbs back, it’s important to add them in slowly and to do low fat animal sources in the beginning. Jay Feldman has a video on transitioning from carnivore. Most people in the Bioenergetics space are ex carnivore.
      I hope things get better for you. Are you doing homemade bone broth for your gut? Have you tried a 24 or 36 hour fast? That can really help with gut issues too.

    Thank you for this video. We each have to find what works for us. I've been low carb for nearly 3 years and at the start of this year started eating more meat. I am finding now that I just don't have the desire for veggies like I used to. The cauliflower and broccoli in the freezer has been there for quite a while now. I was offered a home grown lettuce yesterday and said no thanks. I used to love beetroot and have tried it again and didn't find it enjoyable. When I look at cakes and sweets that I used to love (and devour!) I automatically know that it would just taste overly sweet.

    Thanks Judy I enjoyed Paul's book initially but when I found out that he was giving up on Carnivore I was a little well disgusted frankly the lion diet works perfectly for me maybe I'm just a little more serious about my carnivore than Paul saladino ever thought to be

    Great points. 👍 just want to say though, Paul has posted several videos stating that if you are thriving on the carnivore diet, then keep eating that way. He actually is pretty reasonable in my opinion.

      I agree. I've never heard Paul fear mongering or actively trying to put people off carnivore. He talks about what he's doing and what he feels is working for him and I'm sure he'll change what he's doing if he realises it's not working. Being open to experimenting to find what works for us individually is important. I don't think anyone has the one answer that will work for everyone at this point. It's all just experimentation and the sharing of results is really important.

    62 years old Finnish male, went to ketodiet, saving my health when I was 54. I've always been quite skinny, trying to get reasonable muscles, carnivore diet helped me with that. I got same symptoms as Paul after 1 1/2 years pure carnivore. I Started to use about 50-70 g Finnish honey and forest blueberries, per day. I have to say it gave me energy, and testosterone level got right. I tried to ate 200 g butter per day. I have fear of carbs, I was totally sick with our domestic grain, they are full of mould toxics, food additives. People tell that in going south, France, German, grains are better there.
