I wasn't sure if I was going to buy one but Ujiie sole me on it yo Ujilie you play so well.thank you for a good selling demo video,I just want the price to come down a bit more$1,199 is still a bit steep.
The MOX6 was release as a lower cost Motif sounds synth..ahead of the MM6 but lower than the Motif XS/XF synths... (Retail Price)the body isn't solid like MO6/08 but as you said, the sounds are wonderful. which is Right for a lower cost budget synth.... not every synth player can afford the Motif XF, that's why I bought the MOX6 as well....
Is it best to make music with a laptop? Can you use a desktop? I'm old school...the studio in a box myself.. When I purchased the (MoX8), I didn't realize I had to be so computer savvy. It's like learning another instrument. I even bought a DVD for the MoX8 to help understand it better. Got a journey on my hands.
Hi Katsunori - thanx man - keeping my fingers crossed that the MOX is the same as the MOXF regarding interface with DAW etc. All the data on the onboard editor screen - which is useless & tiny - is available to the user WHEN connected to the DAW via the large computer screen - so Important!!! (why? when the psrs970 screen is not only 7" but connects direct to any BIG outside monitor screen for easy navigation) Thanx again! Even Yamaha don't show this important information! I love the YAM in Yamaha but the aha bit is frustrating. Love this keyboard - gonna buy one this week 2 yrs old, secondhand, for 1 third new price --- YAY :0)
I believe it's impossible to use it as a TRUE VST-instrument. The only VST instruments (as far as I have observed) are a few instruments they provide as a "freebie" together with the hardware, and I could imagine they do this so that people "assume" it's really possible to use the full set of AMAZING sounds of the MOX-series keyboard. P.S. I hope that I'm wrong, because if I AM wrong I'd be SO GLAD to know my MOX can be used AS A TRUE VST INSTRUMENT. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, THANKS
One other keyboard I would consider in this price range is the Korg M50. Korg has 8-tone layering/splitting, touch-screen and higher polyphony (120 notes vs 64 in the MOX) but Yamaha has a more refined sound engine and in my opinion, the sound quality is much superior even to the Korg M3 which costs twice as much. Korg has a better sequencer though but no microphone input nor vocoder. I think Yamaha is the better choice for it's sheer sonic quality. A great review btw and an excellent musician!
Hi there @yamaha cooperation i recently bought moxf6 and the remote functions don't work anymore I very tried all I can .it won't even work in cubase elements as when I just got it. I'm a pc user. The right 2 octaves have taken up the functionality of the transport buttons and I cannot play all the keys when playing as midi keyboard. Can you help? Cheers
HEY KIDS, I WILL BE 60 Yrs OLD COME NOVEMBER , ( I don't believe it, but its true...) I'VE HAD MY MOX88 FOR EXACTLY 3 WEEKS, AFTER OWNING MANY "PSR" UNITS, AS IVE BEEN A PSR GUY FOR AS LONG AS THEYVE MADE EM, AND PLAYING FOR OVER 30 YRS NOW... WITH NO LESSONS AND I CANT READ MUSIC EASILY, IT JUST COMES NATURAL LIKE...DIG ? ANYWAY... HOWEVER....I'VE ALREADY COMPOSED AND RECORDED 3 BEUTIFUL SYMPHONIES, EACH WITH OVER 5 INSTRUMENT ASSIGNMENTS, AND APPROX. 140 MEASURES LONG...AND WHILE AT FIRST A TRUE STRUGGLE...I ONLY GOT THIS FAR DUE TO PERSISTANCE AND A REFUSAL TO LET IT BEAT ME ! I AM IT'S MASTER...MY FINGERS COMMAND MY MACHINE...SO...ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS.... PLAY WITH ALL YOUR LIL BUTTONS KIDDIES, IT'LL COME TO YOU, OR YOU SHOULDN'T OWN IT. BE PATIENT, BE NOSEY, AND BE BRAVE. YOU CAN'T HURT IT, AND IT WONT HURT YOU ! I AM POSTING A TUTORIAL ON RECORDING AS SOON AS I GET A FEW DETAILS SORTED. WATCH FOR IT ON MY CHANNEL... And Check out some of My music videos. as My Credentials. :) SEARCH " poconopat "
Believe it or not, I chose to buy a new one 9 years after you, the MOFX8 for $1500 instead of the Montage based newer models... but despite plugging in the USB cable I am able to get MIDI but not get the Mac (Logic Pro X) to record the sounds from the Yamaha. I am sure I will figure it out in the next 9 years. LOL
@BasilGnet ... I agree with you regarding the CHEAP PLASTIC BODY. I found it very sad ... my MO8 is an elegant piece of equipment that I am proud of. My MOX6 is NEW, and is NOT less expensive than the MO6 was), and it SOUNDS wonderful, but the looks are SO bad that it is FRIGHTENING to look at it.
Man, you're wonderful musician. I don't like MOX6 for cheap plastic body and it is made in China. Looks like unprofessional unit. I like Yamaha MO6 - it's a really professional instrument with serious design and materials of body and it's MADE IN JAPAN! So, Yamaha, make conclusions.
This Guy does the Best most informative Demos on Utube Whether in Japanese or English they always show the instrument at it best .
Mr.Katsunori is truly an awesome musician... chilling keys were really chilling.. nice keyboard
Excellent product from Yamaha..

Good demo. I'd sure like to get my hands on the sheet music for "Chilln Keys".
That Chilln Keys is sweet.

I'm still using the Motif 6, but I must get this!!!
You sir are funky
at 6.00..onwards, you could use MOX sounds plug in editor as sounds for DAW sequencer..
you play very nice!!! how much dollar for this yamaha mox6 piano???

@leohammondb3 I agree my friend! Sold! Thank you for telling me about this Bad Boy!
Tim
I just bought one this week for U$1099! I'm still struggling though to make it work on my mac.

Yamaha, feature request - please replace noisy Bert with thoughtful Ujiie
LOL! Ah my friend, we need both! If Bert is too noisy, just change the channel! ;)

02:12 is a great sound
@babar141 probably has it like that so the audio recorded doesn't clip.
can it be used with Ableton Live ??! ...
did you find out how to do it ?
SEEMS like the output from the mox is not loud enough becouse the waves in cubase look very small...whats up with that???
can be combinate left and right hand with another sounds? exp. left strings, right piano ... thanks
i wonder if the mox6 has sampling or assign key triggers?
is the MOX a standard midi controller that can work with say Logic , or FL Studio ?
Yes and very well. Part of my Logic setup.

What is the difference between MOX6/8 vs S70/S90 xs?
