Atheists need more representation ✊🏼
As an outsider 🇬🇧 specifically 🏴 who has been following US politics and religion generally for about 6 years it's incredible how the religious right has such a hold on American politics. It appears as backward when viewed from a fairly secular country.
I'm thinking about becoming a humanist celebrant under Humanist Society Scotland. A celebrant can perform legal weddings (since 2005) and civil partnerships but not so in England and Wales. This is because Scotland has a different legal system. Authority was given by the Scottish Government. Applications are closed at present while they work through the covid backlog. I also need to get some funds together for course fees first.
Very important work, and interesting aspect about the left. Could a certain understanding of meta-modernism alleviate how our esoteric life aspects - not religion - could be integrated into a holistically sane model of societal governance?
Try to be not so pretentious.
