It’s one of the best selling single skus in California and usually always in the top 10 when we would run year to date on cases sold in LA county. That being said; I've NEVER bought this beer or tried this at a gathering of sorts OR the other cheap beers that are readily available at every gas station usually sitting next to Steel Reserved in the coolers! Worse part of beers like Steel Reserve, at least for me, is that more sugars, high gravity beers give more intense and nasty hangovers. I've been drunk on a can or two of Steel Reserve and felt like absolute shit the next day.

As a person that grabs this every time he's in a liquor store you have to understand it's not beer it's malt liquor. Once we establish that it's not a terrible drink on the cheap. when you start drinking it it breaks down into four separate quarters the first quarter of it tastes okay the second quarter tastes like a bad beer and then the last 2/4ths absolutely undeniably horrible by the time that you reach the last 2/4ths of the can that 8% is already starting to hit so taste isn't exactly an issue there after.

Used to drink this stuff while I was landscaping, still do but luckily I got a better job. The amount of grain required to get to 8% ABV is substantial. I’m guessing it’s really low quality grain to boot. I agree 100% with your review. Steel Reserve is awful. It’s so awful I have to get one every now and then to remind myself how bad it is. I bet the One Man Gang had a few of them!
Personally I think it has a good hint of taste to it. The ones I find are normally 6%, and it's pretty easy to drink. Goes good with a cigarette and gets me pretty relaxed. 1.75 at the cheapest as far as I've seen, but then again I like Coors Banquet and 24/7 red cigarettes so do with that as you will.
My friend and I would stop at 7-11 every night after work and get whatever the beer special was and drink on the way home. Always the "2 fer" 24 ounce can special. One night we got Steel Reserve. Both of us cracked it open, took a couple of swallows, and then poured them out. Had to go back and buy something else since they were too nasty to finish. Never again!
It's February 1th (2/11) which is Steel Reserve Day in the US. Elsewhere where they write the day first it's on November 2nd (2/11) If you really hate yourself you can "celebrate" both. It's also Super Bowl Sunday which makes it extra special. Today is the day I drink at least one tallboy (24oz) of this beverage to remind me of hard times and in homage to those folks on the street who can afford nothing else. To be honest I still like the taste, ok "like" might be too strong of a word. "It's not that bad " probably more accurate. I was used to drinking Olde English when this came out and this is much better than that imo. Usually after the first drink it just tastes like "beer" anyway. Bittersweet, kinda like the memories it brings back. Oh yeah, It's also customary to say "211 in progress when you open this beer."
I cant do cheap malt or fortified malt liqours. Such a bad hangover and thats from someone who can down half a fith of regular liqour without much ill effect, but just one or God forbid two of those SR and im in pain the next day. It's not too bad for bum beer... At least it's better than olde English! And hurricane
Haha I’ve not had Hurricane in years!
@@jsenigaglia your not missing much lol 😂 tastes like sweet metal and corn and is kinda flat I've never seen a bar carry it or someone buy it who actually has a job.
If your beer isn’t strong your in the wrong 7%+ club ❤
I’m solely in the Steel Reserve sucks club 😂🍻
It’s dirty old man beer… grows hair on your chest. Same with black coffee it ain’t for the faint hearted.
Haha I don’t mind black coffee. Steel Reserve 211 is awful 😬
Hahaha... epic. Need to see this vs. Trillium's Never & Again, I dare you to cuvee, CHAIRSSS!
No....I think the worst beer I've ever tasted is Bud Light. That's the first beer I ever tasted that triggered my gag reflex---it is truly offensive. It's also the only beer that if someone offered one to me for free, I'd decline
Have you ever had Steel Reserve?
@@jsenigagliaSure have. And as offensive as it is, it's still not as nasty as a Bud Light.
I love the Juice shirt on a 211 review video!
👊🏼🍻
The mention of mad dog 20/20 immediately gave me ptsd from pledging freshman year😅
Hahahaha you know that struggle! :D
I used to drink this beer cuz I was a poor kid in da hood and wanted to get sloshed for as lil money as possible
I’m not mad at that reasoning 🍻
Elohel I've only had the 6.0% but I like em other than the instant headache I get from drinking one.
The headaches are real with these!
@@jsenigaglia fr my head is still pounding
This guy clearly knows nothing about beer. He clearly knows about retro angels hats tho. Nice hat. Great beer. For the price. It does what it's supposed to
Clearly
Disgusting. I have to mentally prepare myself before I drink one of these.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is one of my favorite reviews:) I have had it and it was instant regret. I laugh every time I watch it.:)
😂😂😂😂
you forgot that it smells like URINE too
LOL yes it does 😂
Lol also that 🤣
I first tried it in high school. I always liked the flavor and loved how it fucked you up. I always got the craziest looks from people when I would tell them this was my favorite beer 😂 I just turned 30 now and I'm probably going to hang them up because a 4 pack has me sick for days now whenever I try to drink them. I don't really have that problem with more expensive stuff beer or hard liquor.
Bro, I used to drink Mad Dog in High School, so I feel you 🍻
Have you tried Molson XXX?
I have not. Never seen/heard of it here in CA 🍻
@@jsenigaglia it’s a almost 6% beer from Coors.
I use to drink 211, OE, King Cobras, and Bud Ices, all bums beer
My Grandfather went through a phase where he was trying to escape from many things life had to offer, and King Cobra was his drink of choice. I remember being young, and him being super hammered drinking tall cans, and I told myself I'd never touch that stuff. I kept that promise to myself, ha.
Nice Garage conversion!! 👍
Thanks! 🍻
I feel like if I ever drank Steel Reserve again I would throw up the instant it hit my lips.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I been drinking it since I was 21 in 2018 lol. Only beer I drink cause the rest you gotta drink more to feel anything I just drink to feel fucked up not to taste it
@@just_a5.7 Oof. I think I only drank that shit in high school, by the time I was 21 I knew better
@@christopherseymour5210 everything else is too expensive and doesn't get the job done but to each they're own. Also I never taste the beer I just drink to get fucked up
Man it’s just a super strong miller light
lol, nah.
@@jsenigaglia fight me hahahahaha
I’m crying cuz I couldn’t get pass one sip 🤣🤣🤣
It’s so rough 😂😂😂
I know people that use to drink 5 straight and they use to cost one dollar lmao🤣 that shit turned them into zombies 🧟♀️ 🤣
That beer is so disgusting, but it does get you super drunk but the hangover is awful the next morning! I used to drank those and 4 Lokos in one night… never again!
Steeleys and Four Loko in the same night?! You absolute legend 🍻
I agree 100% with your review. Steel Reserve is awful. It’s so awful I have to get one every now and then to remind myself how bad it is. I bet the One Man Gang had a few of them!
Haha Steel Reserve was a staple for One Man Gang fo sho 😬🍻
Personally I think it has a good hint of taste to it. The ones I find are normally 6%, and it's pretty easy to drink. Goes good with a cigarette and gets me pretty relaxed. 1.75 at the cheapest as far as I've seen, but then again I like Coors Banquet and 24/7 red cigarettes so do with that as you will.
I didn’t realize there is a 6% version of this beer. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one before? I’d have to double check.
I drink 211 when I go to anime conventions
Reserved for Rotting your stomach
😂😂😂😂
Lmao I drink 2 a day, love em
Respect 👊🏼
The trick to this beer is you have to have it very cold or in a chilled glass
Others have said the same but I don’t want to try again 😂😂😂🍻🍻
211 stands for a robbery in progress. Cus they’re robbing your taste buds 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My friend and I would stop at 7-11 every night after work and get whatever the beer special was and drink on the way home. Always the "2 fer" 24 ounce can special. One night we got Steel Reserve. Both of us cracked it open, took a couple of swallows, and then poured them out. Had to go back and buy something else since they were too nasty to finish. Never again!
Haha the best stories!
The trick to these is to dilute them with lemonade or fruit juice to make 'em more palatable. 75% SR and 25% orange juice is good.
Only time I’ve ever had anything like that is when we’d pour OJ into our 40s of OE. They were called Brass Monkeys I think? Ever had that?
smooth lyk water 😂
😂😂😂😂
@@jsenigaglia naw but lwky 211 is the worst thing my throat and my taste buds have ever felt
I remember in high school we would slam a 40 right before a football game... We all would be f*cked up by half time😂
The good old days! 😂🔥🍻
Enjoy your holiday! 😎🍻
Drank it in high school it's gross but gets you hammered. As a adult I no longer drink beer only white and red wine.
It gets you hammered for sure. So, so bad 🤣
I only drink single mail scotch now
@@SuperEman500 I've tired getting into scotch but that peat kills it for me. Maybe someday.
Only beer I can remember that was as bad or maybe even slightly worse than this is Camo. No idea if it’s still out there but grab one if you see it!
Dang, never heard of Camo. Off to google 🤣
Just type in camo high gravity lager and that can full of foulness will come right up
Camo is poison! 🤣🍻
@@jfcordia isn’t all of it poison?
Steely is a fruity IPA compared to fuckin camo bro 🤮🤢
Good review
Came from the instagram meme where you turn into Judge from Blood Meridian
No idea what that means but it sounds cool 😂🍻
One of the very few high gravity beers I need a chaser after every chug
Haha I totally get it 😂🍻
I used to slip one in after a couple Miller Lite 16's and then go back to the tall boys. All things in moderation.....
I can see this being a good idea. Little palate fatigue before getting into the Steeleys 🍻
I cant do cheap malt or fortified malt liqours. Such a bad hangover and thats from someone who can down half a fith of regular liqour without much ill effect, but just one or God forbid two of those SR and im in pain the next day. I tried one those flavored ones recently, nope still as bad probably worse because the sugar 🙅♂️
That sugar is so gnarly
In college, We used to play “Edward 40-Hands” with This, or Private Stock. I don’t remember how & don’t know why but, I survived… somehow. Even the Rich hot Girls would play with us, and drink this. How I miss, ☝️ night stands fueled by classless binge drinking, and illicit substances.
I wish Private Stock was still around! Never got to experience it 😎
This beer is a six pack in one 24 oz can. It will fucking destroy you. And I love it.
It will kill you, no doubt 😂
This is one that I have seen for years. But I have not tried it because I'm just not really into the malt. Liquors the only one that I will drink and it's very, very rare. I buy that one is Mickey's.
You’re not missing anything not drinking this 😂. I love me some Mickeys!
if you google 211. Maybe because i live in Washington, usa it just goes to hotlines.
Haha does the same here 😂
How the heck do high schooler still able to get themself alchohol???
I heard about
Same way we did back in the day I’m sure?
Sounds Horrific …never had it but seen it around on the cheap beer shelves and I’m shocked that’s 8% .
Give it a try 😜🤣
Commenting telling you, I love this beer at room temperature. My favorite beer by far. I have a 211 shirt. In steel grey medium.
You sir, are a man’s man. My goodness.
THIS IS A GOD DAMN GOOD BEER
It really isn’t 🤷🏻♂️
