I have Mi A1 & it charges in just 1 hour & 30 minutes from 0% to 100% but sometimes it took two hours also It's a superb mid ranger which gives looks of a flagship in hands with very bright display and fast performance with no lag in gaming specially An excellent performer with great camera (Specially Portrait mode in daylight) & battery life, Stock Android works fine but we have no option of black theme in it just white theme in it , (Maybe in OREO Update which is about to come they include black theme also ) Anyhow in my point of view it's better then H.7X , mate 10 lite & Oppo f5
I use the same wire which comes with box but i dont use box charger infact i use another Mi Fast charger which i bought from Mi Store some months ago ... 100-240VAC , 50/60Hz , 0.5 A ( 5V=2A /9V=12A/12V=1A ) these things are mentioned on My Mi Fast Charger & believe me it just took 1-hour and 30 minutes to charge from 0% to 100% but some times dont know why it took two hours also but mostly probably it took just 1-hour and 30 minutes ,,, I also read somewhere in forums that after latest updates Xiaomi Reduced charging time , Maybe your reviewed unit need to update Cheer's

Great smartphone, and inspired choice, I've had mine 4 weeks now. I came from iPhone 6 cost £699 in Sept 2014, loyal to iOS for 10 years. Very happy, and I hope Xiaomi bring out Mi A1 Gen2 as I will stay loyal, Pure Android is the way forward for me. Duel sim is very handy, I get 7hrs SoT. I use the Samsung browser, Outlook and Pixel 2 'Live wallpaper' waves on beach, all very nice. Oreo due soon, but will pass till Feb '18 (check reviews first) as device is working so well. I bought mine from banggood for £182 Pixel 2 flagship smartphone of the year 2017, Mi A1 mid range (at crazy reasonable low end price) smartphone of the year 2017. Three Mi A1 for one Pixel 2, think family of four, plus Duel sim capability so Mi A1 overall winner. Did I mention the headphone jack? Great review btw Michael.
1:11 - "You get an app draw" - Yes, an app draw which misses many apps which other phones I've known contain. Notepad, sound recorder, email, & weather apps I needed to search for & download because they weren't included. And my older phones had a nicely integrated email app, for example, better than ones from the store. There is no such email app in this phone, & also few widgets. I'm a bit confused by this.
Watching this is in my black Xiaomi Mi A1 I got from Widget City. 😁 The rear camera is great. You should've mentioned how good the implementation of portrait mode is, especially in the price segment. (Been comparing it to my mom's Nova 2i). It can also run games smoothly like Asphalt 8 unlike Nova 2i that has countless skipped frames.
It's better than Nova 2i yes, but it's not really that good. We don't have a lot of decent samples, a lot of them have awkward cutouts still, but the one we showed in the video was a really good one.

We don't like ZenUI and all the bloatware it comes with, so our vote goes to the Mi A1. The Oreo update on the Zenfone 3 still hasn't rolled out, but it'll likely come to the Mi A1 in the next few weeks plus you're more likely to get up to Android P update next year as well. The dual camera and really cheap price tag are just a great bonus to add.

GadgetMatch BTW, my A1 back label reads "Made in China", bought it from a legit (local) reseller a couple of weeks after the launch as it really felt as my Gadgetmatch (no pun intended) Cameras, processor, design & performance all checks out. 👍 Have gotten the prompts to download the monthly security updates & successfully installed them which had made at least an improvement on the charging time from 2 hours to 1.5 hours (at least for the Dec 2017 update) 😁 Still no QuickCharge which is an SD625 capability that was not 'turned on' for the A1 but, echoing MJ, "I'm not complaining" 😎 #stockAndroidFTW
Hey man, great review, but I'm still reluctant to buy one even though all the research I've done indicates that I shouldn't worry. My reasoning behind this is the fact that I currently own another Chinese phone (letv/leeco one pro/x800) and the updates were horrible, horrible photos, horrible battery life, horrible gps positioning. I know this is totally different but I gotta be honest, I was scarred and I'm scared to get another Chinese phone.. btw the specs on the x800 are really great (snapdragon octacore 2ghz, 4gigs of ram all that fun stuff), and that's why I was really disappointed of the performance. Maybe you could convince me to get one of these bad boys.
Hey there! We haven't actually used a Leeco phone before so we can't really comment on that. But one thing we can say about Xiaomi phones is we consistently get above satisfactory experiences with their phones, even the really cheap ones. We know of friends who have had theirs for more than 2 years now, and they still wouldn't upgrade because the phones still perform well. Xiaomi also has a very involved fanbase, who suggest new features and updates to MIUI developers, and they actually get rolled out! The Mi A1 though is a different phone from every other Xiaomi phone, since it runs on stock Android. Its MIUI counterpart - the Mi 5X might be a good phone to start with. Or if you have a bit more money, the Mi 6 has top of the line specs.
I bought this phone cos of all the hype. 10 months on though, the LCD screen is partially burnt out. If something seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Longevity? Not so great. Flash now, but time will reveal.
Question. I recently both a Mi A1 phone.4GB Ram / 64 GB Storage. When I was checking my settings, in the storage section it says, "8.96 GB Used of 58.24 GB". Why is this? I was expecting to see 64 GB in it. Is there something wrong with my unit?
The Google camera actually makes camera performance a lot better, dont know why they put stock android but used MIU camera app. Anyway great phone, i dont know which to buy, this or redmi 5 plus.

They’re not blurry, except maybe the spider since that was taken with the second lens. Selfies are not the sharpest. Yes, Gorilla Glass 3.
