The opening premise in the first 5 or 10 minutes is absolutely outrageous and completely implausible. A top race car driver in the lead crashes, is supposedly dead and resurrected, is giving interviews the very next day about having hallucinations while driving which he reported on the day of the crash. You’re telling me he’s not going to be forcibly arrested, hospitalized, and undergoing drug tests while being investigated by multiple groups and agencies? No, that’s exactly what is going to be preoccupying his time for weeks, months, or even years. Even so, the mere premise of a driver crashing due to hallucinations is not going to make for a plausible long term activity. That would be like Spock having Pon Farr every episode instead of every 7 years. After the pilot, they yanked Tom Kovack’s license to drive, since this series was already a wreck. 🤔 👍
This was around the time Night Gallery was running episodes with Gary Collins as the doctor who specialized in psychic phenomena. Also in 1972 was the great Carl Kolchack! I remember soon after the movie, the exorcist, occult theme shows became popular
