Still remember the first time I ever saw this movie. It was on a 13 inch black and white TV my grandfather gave to me. The intensity of the storytelling still got through that old zenith 😳 I now recall even on a black and white TV that explosion scene with the car driving off on fire partially. Was pretty spectacular.🤯
I haven't seen this forever. I feel like more than 15 years. Pretty good. I'm one of the few that also liked the remake. I like them both. Thank you for this opportunity to watch this movie again. 👋🙏👍😎
Thank you Creature Features. This is a real treat! Sat here on a cold stormy UK Saturday, sitting next to the radiator for warmth, and this. It's all good!
Me too. He's from my parents native country the Netherlands and you can't detect the slightest hint of a Dutch accent. So underappreciated. This film is my fave of his apart from the small role in Bladerunner. 👌🏼👍🏼
Been waiting forever to find "The Hitcher" again. Saw it when it first came out. Rutger Hauer at his best. This was just after Bladerunner (my fave movie all time) and here he got another chance to show how brilliant of an an actor he was. Takes on the bad guy roles like nobodies business. Not stupid comic book character or AI crap.A fellow Dutchman too boot. RIP Rutger. One of your best. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Rutger will for always live in the heart of us all.

Can you believe I've actually seen this movie. It's been a long time. So long that it was at a now defuncted drive-in as a double feature with Maximum Overdrive. The Hitcher is like a bad penny. He just kept coming back.
Saw this on HBO when I was a kid, freaked me out. Picked up a VHS of it last year at a yard sale, still a really Fd up movie. Nobody did Evil like Rutger.
Such a master piece. They don't make em like this anymore. I saw it the year it came out and several times since. It's one of those films that stays with you.
Great seeing Rutger, C Thomas, and Jennifer young again. Haven't seen this since I was young. I saw this originally in '86, that was the year I turned 22. I just remember this being, tense, intense, and disturbing; Of coarse I loved it. All 3 actors were cool at that time. Rutgers was a legend already, and the other two had cool projects under their belts. Rutgers in Bladerunner, Jennifer in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, C Thomas in The Outsiders; this one really shook me up, again, so I loved it.
Couldn't sleep either this movie creeper me out when it came out Rutger played that part too well. Then he was in the cult classic with Harrison Ford Sean Young where they were androids in the future in a dismal rainy LA. Enjoy
I saw and loved the remake back in the day. Then I wanted to see the original, so I rented it. For whatever reason, I remember not liking it so much, even though I love Rutger Hauer. Apparently, I was a young idiot. This time around, thanks to you fine people (and Thanks To You :) and it is much appreciated, I absolutely loved this film! I have a brand new appreciation for it! I read somewhere someone saying it is much darker than the remake, and they were right ;) I still love the remake, even though a lot of people don't for some reason ... maybe it was the time I saw it at the theater when I was young and dumb and full of ... youth and optimism ;) or maybe it was the music that made it so appealing to me since every song was so awesome, such a great soundtrack (and I cheated a little bit here, put NIN "Closer" on when Rutger shot down the helicopter, and it was AMAZING ;) Thank you, Vincent :) And thank you, Tangella ;) everyone's RUclips crush ;) Tangella, now this would be amazing, maybe reach out to Sheri Moon Zombie and you two could cause a great amount of mischief, damage, havoc and shenanigans around the manor? That would be pretty cool, and I bet you two would get along splendidly! Again, LOVED the movie, and thank you all so much for everything you do!!! :)
A lot of people don't like the remake for the same reason that a lot of people wouldn't like Boston's "More Than A Feeling" if Beyonce or Avril Lavigne decided to cover it...
My son was 9. We went into town to rent a VHS movie as it was a Saturday night. This one was in the “Kids” section. As soon as we saw Rutger get in the car we knew it was sooooo NOT a kids movie. This was back in ‘90 or ‘91.

Never seen a Rutger Hauer movie that wasn't good. This one was great. Thank CF.
This is a great movie. I saw it when it came out. It was terrifying and still ranks as one of the best of the genre.
One of my all time favourites and the movie that introduced me to Rutger Hauer, *R.I.P.*
Rutger Hauer was one of the best in his time. As was C. Thomas Howell. This is a great example. Back when they knew how to do movies.

LITERALLY ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE FILMS. C. Thomas and Rutger set the bar high on this one.
WOW, what a great movie! I had a crush on Rutger Hauer back in the day. He was fantastic!!
"The Hitcher"(1986) is an action mystery thriller road movie masterpiece! This is the best movie of all time for this Kind!
Thank you Creature Features for streaming this very good movie. 👍💫

Gorgeously shot flick and a textbook example of suspense done right; exactly how it is NOT done these days.

Amazing movie, perfect pace and story and amazing acting by Rutger Hauer
Wow. The last time I saw this movie I was stationed in an Army detachment in southern Turkey. We received “new” movies on Beta tapes. Good times. 😂
Fun movie , first time seeing it without popping a VHS into the machine, hope it still thrills like it did 40 odd years ago
This is a cool, intense psychological thriller ! Love Rutger & C Thomas, Jennifer ! xx
I will never forget the magic rear bumper on that car. Adds a touch of Christine to this movie the way that car self repairs.
You absolute Legends. This is one of the best Movies to come out of the 80's. An undeniable classic.
An underrated cult classic. Rutger Hauer is terrific, menacing & a force of nature. A storm is coming, beware of whom you pickup on the road... 🚗.

The moral of the story ? Don't pick up hitch hikers.

Originally Lance Henriksen was cast as the terminator. But after Cameron went with Arnie after meeting him.

I had forgotten just how tense this film was...
C Thomas Howell, yeah i saw him, years ago and this is one great movie. Jennifer Jason Leigh as well in it, and Rutger Hauer (RIP) of course.
