I was 13 the first time I saw this film. Thanks for the re-visit and the excellent copy. On a cold, lost, night in a small town in Oregon, this movie was frightening. Believe it or not.
Holy cow, I found it! I watched this when I was about 8 or 9, sick as a dog with chickenpox, and have been looking for it ever since. I do remember the skeleton was a lot more impressive though, I guess my brain embellished that part. I must have fallen asleep before the actual Gargoyles were introduced because I have no memory of the rest of the movie, just the demon skeleton and old guy found.
Napa Valley Register, Wednesday, November 29, 1972; LIVELY ARTS, by Dick Kleiner; WILDE IN THE CAVES-For the first time in a long time, Cornel Wilde has worked for somebody other than himself. He did a TV movie for CBS called Gargoyles (not about a new kind of mouthwash). In the last few years Wilde has produced, directed and, generally, starred in his own films. But this is strictly a job for hire. "It came at a good time for me," Wilde says. "I was between pictures of my own." Gargoyles was filmed entirely on location in and around Carlsbad, N.M., and it's about a race of gargoyle-like creatures living in caves. Wilde, like most independent filmmakers, is finding it increasingly difficult to get financing for his movies. The big studios, which were always the prime source of money, are cutting back production. He and the others are going outside the industry for their dollars. It's almost all location shooting today, too. Wilde says one young electrician in the Gargoyles company, he couldn't have been much over 30 or 32, told him he'd already worked in 41 countries. Wilde has traveled all over, too, but says he's never found a place he'd rather live than here in Beverly Hills. He has a home in the woods, he grows guavas and tangerines (when the raccoons don't get them) and flowers. But he can get to the ocean or the mountains or the desert in a few hours or less. "I've been all over, but I prefer it right here."
saw this as a kid when i was 8. gave me a recurring nightmare. a gargoyle would turn up at the house i was living in at the time and knock at the window, when i wouldnt answer it would break down the front door and walk down the hallway toward my room, wings scraping on the walls all the way. i would wake up as it opened my bedroom door. scared the shit out of me later in life i became a stonemason guess what i like to carve most? dragons and gargoyles. go figure :P
I’ve seen this movie many times and always get a kick out of it, you don’t see many gargoyle movies any more , thanks for bringing it to your show for us to see.👍👍🎃😱👍
I used to try and stay awake to watch this movie when it usually would come on TV after midnight, but I would always fall asleep. Finally I can watch it now in full for the first time.
Fun fact the girl who plays Diana is Jennifer Salt who would go on to play Eunice in the TV show soap and who now I believe is a writer and producer for America Horror Story and the TV show nurse Fletcher
I've always liked this movie and seen it quite a few times. I think it's a made for TV movie, but like it better than a lot of theatrical big budget movies. I think cute Tangella lost a little weight. Her impish antics on the show are always funny to watch. And of course Vincent's and Livingston's humor really adds to it as well. We're glad there is no bad profanity too which is an instant turn off, especially F-bombs. We watch every week.
I seen this when I was a kid on the same show creature feature the seventies I tried looking for it on video for years when they came out with VHS thank God for youtube
I had absolutely no clue that Creature Feature actually existed, until seven months after the Grim Life Collective episode came out on RUclips. Since then I have been watching episode after episode to try and catch up on what I have missed. Thank you for broadcasting this to RUclips!
Thank you, Tangella! You have amazing taste! Saw this movie for the first time when I was 3-4 years old. Scared the bejesus outta me, lol. And still a favorite!
This movie did one scene perfectly imho - when the gargoyle accosts the old guy in bed, reaching up over the foot of the bed. When I was a kid that was such a freaky scene! Just another reason to love this movie !
Tangella yr lovely and yr show is proper cool, I love watching you's so please keep up the good work and take good care cos I care. From Rachel ov Sheffield, England 🏴
That would be a body pillow case. Best trick or treat bag ever. Thank you, sweet Tangella, for your brilliant suggestion of this film. It's one of my all time favorite scary movies, too. I appreciate all you on Creature Feature. You keep the scary stories and the old films alive in our memories and hearts. ❤
This was one of the ONLY movies in my 62 years that ever gave me an eerie or "creeped out" feeling. It was mainly the strange frame rate that did it for me regardless of the effect being similar to stop-motion animation (and yeah, "Jason and the Argonauts" also creeped me out for that reason - so it was SURREAL and UNREALISTIC that did it for me).
This was a TV movie and it gave me the shivers when I saw it at 10 years of age. Just creeped me out. Also noted that the daughter to Cornell Wilde is "Eunice Tate" from SOAP and the hoodlum on the motorcycle is a young Scott Glenn.
gonna be a hell of a night, can't wait.last Halloween we had a nice amber moon,it looked really cool. happy Halloween everyone, gargoyles that makes it even better 👺
I cannot WAiT for This!!💜🎃🤘🏼.. tomorrow will be a fun filled day of frights and horror in theaters, come home take my daughter trick or treating then relax and watch...CREATURE FEATURES HALLOWEEN!! See y’all fiends there!! Happy Samhain!!!!
Hello my name is Wizard slick wolf I enjoy your show very much I'm glad that you show old movies including with epitaphs tombstones gargoyles Wizards and I like your music I'm also a musician I enjoy the butler tangella boy wow I like to have a date with her and maybe perhaps a spot on your show to make this brief I hope you all I hope you continue these shows I love old movies from the 70s putting the 60s as well I was born in 1963 try to enjoy the daylight hahaha
This was a pretty decent movie. A young Scott Glenn before All The Right Stuff and Hunt for Red October. I was 12 when this came out and all I can say the girls in the 70s really knew how to dress and get your attention. I miss those years. We were almost out of Vietnam. I was still a few years from going into the army. This movie came out in the fall so we had yet to hear of Watergate. Disco had yet to blow up on our radio. But it was preferable to today.
One of the great movies from my childhood I used to fall asleep cuz it wouldn't come on till after midnight but I managed to finally watch the whole movie and definitely memories of my childhood although I do own a copy today.
Tangella... I have to say that I have never found Beetlejuice to be attractive, let alone beautiful, but here we are!!! You have made it so! Also, now, in 2024, there is a new Beetlejuice movie coming out, and the trailer looks actually good!!! :)
I am old enough to have watched the "original" Creature Features. I love horror films, and have since kindergarten. By the time my children were old enough for horror movies, they had Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
I love how Tangella has Vincent wrapped around her finger.. She can not do no wrong... These 2 remind me of me and my uncles.. They thought I was a perfect Angel... when every one else thought I was the devil .... It brings back great memories ❤❤
I watched Creature Feature on KTVU 2 for years... Bob Wilkins rocks!... And so does your show... My Mastiffs and I will be watching your shows as well... Thanks!...
I was seven when this film came to the downtown movie theater in the small town that I grew up in. My next door neighbor and friend at the time told me about this film. I could not see it when it came out but I remember looking at the poster in front of the now showing display glass of the theater. I am glad I was finally able to see this film. It reminds me of the era in which I grew up. I love watching these old films. Nostalgia I guess .But, it is an entertaining move.
The motel manager played by Grayson Hall. She was Dr. Julia on the TV Gothic soap, Dark Shadows. Ran from 1966 through 1971. She played a main character through the whole run of the show. This movie was made one year after Dark Shadows ended.

Growing up in NOLA as a kid I loved watching "Morgus The Magnificent". Anyway, being a self described "film buff" I very much appreciate this show! SUBED
Thanks for this.....most clear file of same I have found on the internet !! 👍 Would you please consider doing a show with file of AUDREY ROSE ? It is quite good.....an eerie, frightening, well produced story of reincarnation, starring Anthony Hopkins. PLEASE DO. 😎
Second comment of the show. Did anyone notice, during the letters segment, their lovely blonde guest could be seen behind Vince as long as the camera was facing him but when there was a side shot, she completely disappeared!! Even when the Blue Lady was there in side shot, blonde lady was gone!
I was 13 the first time I saw this film. Thanks for the re-visit and the excellent copy. On a cold, lost, night in a small town in Oregon, this movie was frightening. Believe it or not.
oh i believe you - nearly fifty years later and i'm still having nightmares.
Same!
I know about small towns in Oregon as well!! Just about to watch this one!
Holy cow, I found it! I watched this when I was about 8 or 9, sick as a dog with chickenpox, and have been looking for it ever since. I do remember the skeleton was a lot more impressive though, I guess my brain embellished that part. The lead Gargoyle was played by the late actor and ex football player Bernie Casey.

In fact it was an ABC TV movie.
I saw it when it was originally broadcast.
Totally agree the Makeup for the Main Gargoyle was Epic! And the actor who played the role has a history alone!
@@DRAGONSLAYER1220 >>> I am not sure if I saw this when originally broadcast, but I first watched it on television MANY years ago.
I seen this when I was a kid on the same show creature feature the seventies I tried looking for it on video for years when they came out with VHS thank God for youtube
Used to have these made for TV flix every week. Many were better than theatrical releases.
This was one of those better ones.
A staple from childhood. Every time this aired I had to see it.
How am I just discovering this channel?
Awesome choice! I'll be there! With gourds on!
Scared me terribly as a kid, love it now.
I first saw "Gargoyles" when I was five..I liked it so much that my parents got it for me for my sixth birthday!😍
I seen this first run. Its great to see it again. TY
I absolutely love this movie, will be watching it from Oklahoma
Ditto
for those whom haven't seen this film yet, the voice of the chief Gargoyle is a real treat. 🎃
Sublimely chilling! And his acting was sweetly eerie. Great stuff. This was awesome. I've watched it live and twice again already.
Casey...
Love him.
Thank u
36:30 Note to self: Don't store rocks on high shelves.
Saturday is going to be a great night for spooky movies which, of course, includes Creature Features!

I watched this movie before, and it is very good. Thanks for sharing.

The makeup was by Stan Winston. He also won an award.
I watched this movie when it first came out and am still impressed with the special effects and makeup for the time. Very good movie.

Watching this Halloween 2023. Love Creature Features! Happy Haunting everyone 🎃
I may be mistaken, but I suspect that the narrator who opens the film is Vic Perrin, the Control Voice from "The Outer Limits."
I watched Creature Feature on KTVU 2 for years...
Bob Wilkins rocks!...
And so does your show...
My Mastiffs and I will be watching your shows as well...

I2 years old and was glad that Cornell survived the Naked Prey only to wage war on the Gargoyles. A glutton for punishment. 2 good movies.
