Man, I love this film to bits. I watched it when I was 8, we rented it from the video store on a whim, loved the sci-fi mixed with crash forensics. I can only imagine most of the budget went into making the sets for the future, absolutely excellent late 1980's gem.
There is something in this film that makes watchable multiple times. I really like, I can even say that it is one of my favorites. The acting is excellent all over.
I love seeing this film again. A lot too. I remember the first time. In my local cinema . My hair was tinglibg on my neck. I love syfi films. Then it was on the TV. And now youtube. Thanks. There are other folk how have it in thier youtube. And thanks to them for keeping it a live. For new folk to see. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hallå hej Oj ..! Vilken fantastisk film mycket bra storyn . 🌸❤🇸🇪
I found this movie in 1990😅 via picking up Varley's novelization of his screenplay. It was in the airport bookstore just b4 I boarded for a long flight from New Zealand to USA for an aviation conference and visit to FAA HQ in Washington. Compulsive reading for someone as passenger in a 747 long haul flight. Varley's research was impeccable. Saw the movie later, and loved Kristofferson's performance, though I would have preferred someone other than Cheryl Ladd as Louise. Maybe Karen Black. But Dan Travanti nailed the Dr Mayer character. Yes, I would welcome a remake.
I watched this as a kid and was blown away by it. I think it is a good movie with a unique storyline. One part I thought was ridiculous though was when Louise steals a car and drives erratically. Like that could not potentially cause a paradox lol.
Absolutely Fantastic Film And Yes I'm I Really I'm Sorry For Hearing About His Passing A Few Days Ago He Was A Very Good Performer And A Very Good Actor As Well. I Heard A Few Of His Songs And Saw A Few Of His Films As Well, Just Like That One Right There. He Will Be Truly Missed. 🙂🙂👍👍
@jamesportrais3946 she was a race horse, nowadays not as much. I don't even know if she is still alive , if so she must still be beautiful! If she is dead then I sort of retract my last comment.that
Sometimes I worry about just what the RUclips algorithms know about me. I was just thinking about this movie after hearing of Kris's passing. I could not remember the title but I know I read the book and saw the movie. This is a fair if not literal adaptation.
would be nice to have a sequel, to know where they arrived and see what a world they build, only to realize that big time quake is slowly encroching on them and they need to dodge that one too :P

I just finished watching the tomorrow war and it reminded me of this movie. I loved it when I saw it years ago. Not available on streaming platforms that I can find. I did find it here on RUclips. And yes, I agree with many others that this would be a good remake or even just a release.
These old movies might not have all the razzle-dazzle like movies today. But back them there was a storyline acting and very little FX and the FX wasn't CGI. movies today are CGI some acting and a little storyline.
24:01 "what kind of car do you drive?" "what kind?" "thats mine" what the hell was the point in this line ? they dont show the car... she just point out of frame
This movie was made during the cold war, when a single button could have ended the world as we know it several times over.. So yeah this movie very much followed the mainstream prediction of humanity's future at that particular time which was rather bleak..
...we used to be happy if we could get the antenna juuuust right to catch the only available American channel for Saturday morning cartoons that lasted till noon. If it was raining, there was no chance. Our Canadian ones finished around 9-10 and weren't even the good ones. The low resolution fuzziness adds to the nostalgia.
RIP, Kris Kristofferson
Crazy I just thought of this movie a couple of weeks ago and watch through it. RIP:
Well like fellow
people you knew are leaving RIP
Kris Kristofferson, I'm Piss Pisstofferson.
I had no idea til now thanks for the heads up

@@starpawsy it's nostalgia. we were kids. many old movies aren't that great. not really the point. the whole world has changed.

The greatest paradox of time travel is, once you've built a time machine, you've always had one.
What if you gave it to your younger self?

This whole story is very interesting and the situation is goosebumpy at times even if the future scene looks like a Duran Duran videoclip 😅
If you think that's bad, wait till you see a movie with the 'Disco' look. (Original Charlie's Angels series.)
@@tinkerstrade3553 Cheryl Ladd😂🤣😂
Nice little Barbarella link there.
At least Duran Duran can act LOL.
Duran Duran clip 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Saw this movie in the theater the shot of the landing gear in the cockpit window blew my mind. Best movie opening ever.
I think could be interesting a remake of this movie.
Please no not nowadays 😮
I sympathize with Robert's comment I do agree if times were different this would be a great candidate for a remake.
The remake is called 2024 reality
I think they did on several levels - lot'sa bits reminded me of other films, not too mention one or two conspiracy theories...
@@Cpl-ABE3-11B Now you're just being accurate & you know what that leads to silly boy!!
Thanks for posting, like this film. Some scenes missing though…
I remember watching this on TV. Interesting concept.
This being a VHS rip lends texture and authenticity.
There is something in this film that makes watchable multiple times. I really like, I can even say that it is one of my favorites. The acting is excellent all over.
You're kidding, right? Neither KK nor Cheryl Ladd could act their way out of a wet paper bag LOL. And neither can any of those "future" bozos. LOL
X Files "Max" / "Tempus Fugit" owes this movie a huge debt too
Kris Kristofferson, 1936-2024. 🕯
He stunk it up for a long time.
Cheryl Ladd looking gorgeous - fell in love with her in this movie. RIP Kris - more than decent actor, musician, writer.
I love this movie. Such an interesting plot. Deserves a remake 👍
No it doesn't! A good movie doesn't need a remake,
Awesome 😎 I mind seeing this back in 91 and it was excellent ! Thanks pal
Rest in peace Kris Kristofferson. Great movie! 👍
Very telling tale. I got it on VHS 🎉
I have it on DVD

Loved this movie then and now.
Love Winston Churchills last quote this is not the end.
Great movie
That final monologue…it’s a Churchill quote? I believe I’ve seen video of him saying it in regards the British victory over Rommel’s forces in Africa.
Pretty good movie...a little slow on the uptake...but once it gets going...it does a good job. Thank you for the upload!!
This is a surprisingly good sci fi film, loved it.

Interesting ideas..i'd love to see this movie being remade!!!
So would I .....can you imagine the way it would be and maybe a better ending too.....
No. Just rerelease it in 4k.
Please no more remakes. 😆
Thanks for posting this video. It's been years since I last saw it. Would love to see an adaptation of John Varley's novel Titan.
The full trilogy of Titan, Wizard and Demon of course!

Don't remake the film, it would only be ruined. This should remain in time as is
I was just thinking of this movie recently. It was my favorite movie of Kris'.
I'm glad I stuck with it. It's a bit slow but well worth watching.
With a guest appearance by RoboCop 🙂
A surprisingly good movie 👍
Forgot Daniel J. Travanti was in this. Surprised no one has remade this, yet?
I suppose if you show this on a 1985 CRT TV, the quality won't be so bad
watch it on a mobile device, cannot expect it to 4 or 5K. Some films like The Day O The Triffids, the only print in existence is low res.
There is more than one movie version of The Day of the Triffids

A decent show with a similar premise is a Canadian series called Travellers.

Choose playback speed 1.25😊
Which is also why time machines exist already.❤
