Getting promoted at work, so I upgraded my wardrobe- following your old money advice. Today was the first day in the new clothes and style. I had an amazing positive response. Thank you for your teaching. I will continue to study your videos and books!
Well, I'm there with the oxblood penny loafers, the chinos (khaki - of course), the OCBDs, the blue blazer and a watch box full of Seiko divers. I'm down with the Old Money look. I just need some old money.
Guess I am ahead of the curve in dressing like old money. I've worn penny loafer for years. And no I've never put a dime in the slot. I own two dark blue blazers which I wear the heck out of and I frequently pair them with khaki chinos. When I fly, I pair the blazer with dark grey trousers. I do have a few oxford button down shirts from Brooks Brothers but most of my shirts have French cuffs. I guess I step down a bit for a watch. I wear either a Bulova dive watch or a Bulova Accutron. Both are very accurate and very smart looking time pieces. Thanks for all you do keep us guys dapper.
I got a pair of baby-blue canvas Ralph Lauren Venetian loafers for summer or tropical vacation; a unique grab I've never seen on anyone else's feet and has garnered quite a few compliments. I've also got plain (no strap, no tassles, etc), brown leather Ralph Lauren loafers. But, they don't attract as much attention. There're a few Polo Oxford shirts in my closet. Haven't worn them for years, though. I find they don't tuck into my pants neatly; they always puff out at the back. There's a Polo navy blazer there, too. It I haven't worn in ages, either, entirely because it's got brass buttons on it and those are a) pretty '90s, b) not very casual, and c) I prefer silver accessories (belt buckle, tie clip, etc).
Interesting discussion. I have been learning more in the last five years watching videos, reading books and forum posts. Of course, I look at magazines. Expensive watches need regular maintenance. The cost is high. I purchased a $100 quartz tank watch with a leather band. In movies, I have seen male characters wearing a white terry cloth robe. I purchased one for myself. There is a reason they wore them with a scarf or a towel around their necks. Wax jackets? I have heard that they may have an oder. I would not want one in my closet, especially touching some wool item also hanging in that closet. I always liked the idea of brass buttons on a blazer. That seems to have run its course and in many places bright brass has been replaced, like you suggested, with other types of buttons. One idea I have recently tried is monochrome. A linen blazer, for instance, worn with linen trousers in a very similar color to the linen blazer. Seems kind of European but it can be an interesting combination. I have worn pinpoint oxfords for years, not necessarily with button down collars. I always prefer point collars but I do have both. Pique polo's are a nice item to wear, with or without a blazer. Over the years, we all refine our style and clothing choices. BTW, loafers never wanted to stay on my feet properly. I need a tightness around the ankles. Laces do that for me but at least a three eyelet In a Sperry boat shoe. Not really appropriate shoes for someone stuck on land in the Midwest. Been there, done that. Thank you for these videos. You inspire those that want to learn more.
Decided to get a few Anson belts and buckles last year and have to say they are solid. Shipping was really reasonable to the UK too. Love this channel 👍
Been wearing Anson for over 2 years now. And I always give them as birthday gift. Gifted a set to my my cousin 2 years ago, a set to my friend earlier this year, and my father's birthday is Sunday and I got a set sitting on my table for him.
I'd like to get my hands on a pair of those monk straps, I've never heard of them before. I can think of all kinds of versatile pairings for a shoe like that!
Excellent guide, Anthony. I am an older (but youthful and very athletic) man and I can use all of your advises in this video. I am one of your many followers.
I love loafers for non formal relaxed wear. Blazers are the best for any dress up casual go. I have a few french cuff shirts and do they turn heads with the younger crew! Regardless of cost, get the good stuff that will last vice all these fad deals that show up in the thrift next year. Weekend is the best investment ever, get a good leather one that will last a lifetime.
I know you recommend Karl Frederick, but two companies I'd highly suggest from personal experience. The first is Hook and Albert. Their weekender carry-on is also a suit bag and made well. The second is a Canadian company from Ottawa called Mariclaro. They make bags from vintage car interiors.
I use pyjamas and dressing gown. Bath robes are lighter and made from a towelling fabric, where as a dressing gown is made from a heavier and warmer fabric and is often checkered or plain. They are great to lounge around in, in the mornings. Fantastic video Antonio. By the way got three Anson belts, they are great.
Nice video, thank you. Making PJs could be something to look into. I recently rediscovered them as I often read in the evenings propped up in bed these days. I'm currently in sweat pants and an old flannel. Was just on line a week ago looking around and could not find much other than for kids---but now that I think of if, I really do identify with Spiderman...However my Lady Friend not so much....
Thanks for the video! I have most of these things, so I guess I’m on the right track! I do want to get a wax coat though. I’ve always known they existed and wanted one but never knew what they were called. The more you know!
I don't wear pajamas. Not even the bottom anymore. For trousers I use comfy sweatpants (which I can wear to the store next door or when someone knocks). As for the top, some T shirts in good condition but thanks to Antonio videos, I don't wear outside anymore 😄 now I would be totally into a line of RMRS watches and sunglasses, but I understand that's gotta be trickier.
Amazing video, Antonio. I am 15 years of age, in Australia, and I am soon to do work experience at an accountants and lawyers firm. I was wondering what accountants usually wear to work, and what I should wear (blazer, undershirt, shoes, colours etc). thank you if you do respond. But amazing video
I'll provide a review of Anson belts, at least regarding the straps. They seem to wear out quickly on the top edge where it rubs the belt loops. Especially the back loops. I only wear jeans on the weekend and with the wider straps, so I can't attest to the straps' resistance to wear if you wear jeans often. I'd imagine that the wear would be more severe as there's only one middle loop. The straps don't do the curling thing, at least as far as I've noticed.
Yes, RUclips seems to have been taken over by videos concerning "old money". I own everything mentioned in this video and definitely consider myself nouveau riche.
Have a line of pajamas would be amazing. I am have the same issue of not find pajamas i like to buy. Will there be an email list to join to be notified if you do create a line?
Some things saying old money to me: a Loro Piana cashmere suit, bespoke and generally fucked up clothes (and cars etc) of high quality, a brown Ferrari, Crockett&Jones, New&Lingwood, Jeeves&Wooster, the Old Fogey handbook, inherited items, pairing some highly expensive stuff w some cheap shit, owning a chateau/castle or country house etc.
Some excellent stuff here. Also some inaccuracies. (1) Penny loafers (w/ strap) are NOT Venetian loafers (no strap). (2) Khakis ARE a kind of pant (casual, rugged, double stitched seams, military origin) and are different from chinos (dressier w/ single stitch seams). (3) It's a SPORT jacket (business casual), not a sportS jacket (athletic gear). Everything else was great though.
Thanks Antonio was wondering about jacket for suit can I combine with different pants I really trying to maximize my potential with mix and match combo of few suits I’m adding which I get tailored to fit. What’s some good combos that would be a good video navy and grey black and blue brown and black etc. ?

The old money look is amazing glad you touched on this subject
It definitely is!
For classic bathrobes/dressing gowns and pyjamas I can recommend Baturina in Germany. They make some very nice things...
Thank you for the coverage on this aesthetic. It's helping me make a wardrobe that's an investment, not a victim of impulsivity
My brother just got that exact same wolverine comic cgc graded with the yellow cover. Awesome to see it in your collection too

for the watch stuff, I'd recommend to get a vintage one from the 50s or 60s like a Omega or Longines (steel case) about 4-5hundred€/$
