You know me, I am going to chose to build one over an RTR 95% of the time. Also trying to do it relatively cheap so I can get another kit quicker as well LOL!! I am curious about the new car from them as they have really stepped up their game and left behind the toyish start and gone to the much higher end side of the market.
It's gonna take a lot to get me over the Kyosho Subaru. Most companies make rally cars, but they only look like one and you mostly gotta keep it on the pavement. When Kyosho called it a rally car, they were like, "na fam, drop it in the DIRT" Legit off road cars you can jump and stuff.
Absolutely! It's gonna be tough to beat the Fazer Mk2 Rally. The suspension, tires, even the 14t 550 works surprisingly well. Like, way better than I anticipated. It's an incredible bang for the buck!
@@poorboysrc I had gotten a Mad Van VE, and that thing is a beast, so when I saw the Subaru on basically the exact same chassis, I was sold. Plus that price was like, I didn't even think twice about it!
Looks like another winner form rlaarlo . I can say the carbon fiber Omni terminator has been a good 1/12 ish sized RC . Plenty of power , excellent handling , hasn’t ever failed me , outdrive cups and diffs is all it’s needed besides some e clips under the shock pistons but I hardly jump it anymore .
Great topic, Fil! I think RC rally will become really big next year, I am definitely intending to join the fun! In Eastern Europe they have really taken off and they have awesome sports events for RC rally and I think it will grow! I'll probably pick up a Tamiya XV-01 and modify it with some aftermarket kits, but as far as I know, all the pros are running Xray buggies modified for rally.
as far as the traxxas model is concerned, i modified my slash 4x4 with some proline body posts, and took the front and rear bumpers from the rally car and body and it fits perfectly! also, it came with the velenion motor and esc upgrade as well so if you want it to go over 30mph from stock, then start to check you bank account with that option with the others that i mentioned before. can't wait to see it in your "showroom" hahaha! cheers. see you soon bud.
Well, this looks like it will be pretty awesome. I will have to shell out some $ for one I guess. The HPI Rally is larger than typical 10th scale and similarly the CEN racing Puma is also when side by side normal 10th scalers. Both cars price point reflect the quality and durability , handling etc. I am curious to try this new one out. Cheers

Probably an rtr kit and probably the Traxxas just so I could beat the absolute snot out of it and not feel bad. I love my TT-02 but it's my precious, only because I did assemble it, I did paint it, I cut out and put all the stickers on it. I want to keep it pseudo mint, plus it's my club car.

Great comparison, I'd like to add Maverick Quantum RX Flux to that list, it's often sold under $300 and with that Hobbywing Quicrun Max10 120A system, center diff and a wheelbase of 325mm it's an actual 1/8 at great value.
I love building my kits. It’s disappointing the choices are the bottom line Tamiya or an expensive LC Racing. I get I am in the minority, but it’s too bad these other companies don’t offer a kit option.
There is a great range of rally cars right now, to suit all pockets and tastes. The Tamiya is more budget friendly in many ways, OK you do have to add a fair bit to it to make it decent. The Kyosho is, for me, probably the best value out of the lot, and that Datzun 240Z looks awesome! Kit wise, the LC Racing may seem pricey but it's got a lot of great parts already included, if you try to get the TT-02 to match it'll cost a lot more. Great video, can't wait to see the car in the flesh!!

That is a sick looking rally car. That’s a tough one, I’m a die hard Tamiya fan and love to build my kits. I’m leaning towards the TT02, but the Rlaarlo could be the one to get.
no rock guards or chassis cover makes it a big negative for me. The limited space for electronics is also unfortunate. The omni terminator the chassis is based on has a center diff so assuming at least it will be an option...
Awesome video as usual man and cool topic to bring up. Pretty sweet you added the LC racing in the mix too, didn't expect that! Personally and as much as it pains me to say this I think I like the Traxxas the best aside from the LC racing because as you said the LC is quite spendy. I would definitely seek out a Travis Pastrana Traxxas fiesta over any of the others. My big gripe with the new Rlaarlo is the body and paint scheme being a knockoff of the monster Ken Block fiesta. To me it makes it look like a cheap Chinese branded RC.. I think it would have been a better choice to go with something licensed if they could swing it. Otherwise do something a little more generic because WL toys has already done the knockoff Ken Block fiesta.... 😃
I mean even MJX came out with a licensed rally car in 1/14 scale with the Abu Dhabi Total Citroen and they seem to be trying to do the same thing Rlaarlo is by trying to make the transition from "good China RC" to actual hobby grade. They need to take a page from MJX in this situation if they want to play with the big boys. Just my opinion though 😉
Agree that some licensing would've been a nice touch. I get it, they're trying to keep costs down. I'm sure this will be a good take home note for them when considering liveries for future models. 👊🏼

I just kept the arms plastic just to give some flex for an occasional miss hap 🤫 Take a trip to Japan you will be amazed at the prices and whet you can get there the TC01 Mercedes is 100C CAD and parts are just a few bucks. If you ever go you need to visit Shogun Burger 🍔 🤩

@poorboysrc don't let it be a dream go and see for your self and take the wife. Super Rajikon and Tam Tam are my favorite stores, but all are cheap as there are no taxes because there made there. A set of Aluminum 1/10th aluminum wheels are 22 AUD, and tyres or plastic rims are 5 AUD a set. When you see the number in the top right hand corner that the price in yen so 3 bucks AUD for any gear set or 6 bucks AUD for a high speed gear set that a bargain.

Nyeh. Myeh I stay away from Rlaarlo since their warranty is non-existent. My CT8A started giving -1200 to the throttle channel as soon as i turn it on. It's 75 days old. Reset the firmware, examined the potentiometer. It's unusable unless i want to drive in reverse constantly as soon as i turn it on. Rlaarlo support and the reps at the @Rlaarlo YT channel were like "we're sorry, we strive to provide excellent experience and we will do better next time" So I'm out $65 with two useless receivers and a broken Tx. Naw, I'm not buying a car of theirs especially since they're using their own Tx and not DumboRC anymore. I'll stick with Horizon Hobby where i get a 2 year warranty that goes like this: i fill out a small form with purchase proof and address, and they ship me new parts in under 5 days. Sorry, Rlaarlo, until you start giving a crap about your customers, I don't give a crap about your RCs. Buyer beware.
We've been filming our video the last couple days, and I can tell you this car is a game changer already. It's beyond what you expect for performance.

The XV01 is an excellent choice, Mads. Those Xrays are gonna have you working hard to keep up! Show 'em what us Tamiya guys are all about! 😁

The Fazer is so good! And I prefer the plastics on it over the TT02. They seem more flexible and less sloppy. 👍🏻

I'm surprised how well the Fazer R performs out of the box with a 550 brushed motor on a 32 tooth pinion. She runs a bit hot, though! 👍

Does the Rllarlo have a center differential? In my opinion rally cars need center differentials
No centre diff. In the first minute of the video you'll see the driveline. I think only the HPI had one in the list I went through.
