Paul returns to form with a great trip report. You don't post the most videos but your production quality is always top notch. Thanks for all of the effort you put into these!
Wow, thanks!
Fabulous views on arrival to Tokyo. I hope to do a Japan visit this year, and would like to use JAL after seeing your film. Thank you for a great video highlighting JAL as top brand airline. I'm ready for the experience.
Gary in the UK
I would love to fly on this plane and in this seat one day. Looks amazing!
You should!
That looks like a nice flight to go on. What an experience to have.
I'm very fortunate! :)
Love the way you shoot & edit the videos! Keep it up man, rooting for you :)
Thanks for the kind words! This video didn't do as well as other videos so I'm glad to hear some people still liked it :)
Hello!
Edit: Really good review and really good video, cant wait to see more!
Hello!
Very nice video once again !
I really like the privacy screen of the cabin and the food looked very decent :)
Cheers mate!
Love the video as usual
Glad to hear it!
That’s a lovely looking seat. Good tip on choosing the window seats that are positioned closer to the aisle, so you can still get out of your seat when your tray table is deployed. With the privacy door, you can still get peace and quiet 👌
And what an absolutely fantastic view of Tokyo you had as you made your descent 😮
Cheers! Yes, with the privacy doors then it doesn't really matter if your seat is close to the window or aisle as it's private eitherway.
Stunning new cabin, nicely captured mate 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for a wonderful review. 😃 p.s. Your voice is so soothing.
Thank you so much 🙂 Don’t forget to check out my jal first class vlog too :)
Even their business product is amazing wow. Great review :)
Yes! Thank you!
Great video Paul! The JAL Biz Class cabin and FOOD ESPECIALLY look GREAT! Also at 1:21 that is called “Cityscapes” and is an art installation by American Airlines debuted in 2013 with major landmark city buildings from all the major cities AA flew to in 2013 from JFK. DFW has a similar “Cityscapes” installation in their American Airlines terminal 🇺🇸 Interesting but useless trivia to be sure! 😅
Cheers mate! 🥂 I CANNOT wait to try Japan Airlines 🇯🇵 or JAL someday especially on their NEW Airbus A350-1000! I am sad that it has now become the flagship over the previous flagship Boeing 777-300ER which I believe you flew last time that you flew on JAL. I still like the B777 and new B777X but the A350 is just a perfect clean sheet design and has been designed to replace the B777 so naturally it has improved upon some things and most importantly has won over many former B777 operators like Singapore 🇸🇬 Air France 🇫🇷 and JAL 🇯🇵 and beat its competitor the B777X to the market. I guess, progress is progress 😂 still, I’m happy to fly on any airplane anywhere and the spectacular seat and fabulous food on Japan airlines, I’m sure is just as good on any of their fleet! 😃
Cheers again, also, the Japan Airlines First Class Suite looks EVEN BETTER which I did not think was possible as the Business class looks pretty amazing! Now I have to go watch the JAL First Class Suite video of yours and continue to dream as I will never be able to afford to fly any Japanese carrier like ANA or JAL 🇯🇵 in ANYTHING better than possibly Premium Economy! 😂 🤑💸
P.S. at 7:38 no booze 🍸 on the ground at JFK has to do with our favorite government tradition here in the USA 🇺🇸 TAXES!!! 😂 Airlines get high taxes for opening alcoholic beverages on the ground within the United States as the drinks do not originate in the country and our subject to import taxes oddly! Why IDK man I’m no lawyer pay your taxes boys and girls! 🤪 😵💫😂
Cheers my friend!
@@PaulStewartAviationIndeed! 😅
The scenery was outstanding Paul. Nice flight, food looked sublime. 😊ps love the socks. 😊😅
Glad you enjoyed it
An interesting video, thanks .....
Paul, I am very glad that you used the same background soundtrack from your review of the JAL first class seat. This is my all-time favourite background music now. Many thanks for another great review. JAL definitely needs to allocate a proper space for the drink bottle, in an otherwise amazing business class seat.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes I'm a fan of the music too!
Nice trip report Paul. I haven’t been thru JFK in 10 yrs, but it used to be very crowded n chaotic. So am pleasantly surprised that JFK’s new terminal seems calm, efficient and even relaxing.
Yes and there is a new terminal being built. Not sure when it's due for completion, though.
I Love The Japanese On The Beautiful Air Craft.Great Video And Info
Thanks for watching!
Plz more videos like these
❤
Unfortunately the views are much lower than my museum videos so we'll see. Unfortunately user-engagement seems much less on these flight reviews :(
The Greenwich lounge is named after the area of London and the area of NYC which named it after the area of London.
very nice cabin will give ANA the room a run for its money
Great video! The Tasting Room (which as you say used to be Flagship First Dining) now extends into the former Admirals Club too, which connects it to the Bridge Bar (which also used to be part of the Admirals Club).
Thanks for the info!
Thank you ❤️
You’re welcome 😊
Cheers Paul
You're welcome!
That’s a great looking seat! Much wider and generally more spacious than the current business seats in the 777.
Agreed, it's much wider than the apex seat that it replaces. I must admit that the Apex seat did have it's charm but it's certainly aging.
Paul as always a fantastic vlog
Still prefer my seat closer to the window as opposed to the aisle
I usually prefer the seats closer to the window but the door makes all of the seats equally as private.
Nice video. Great views of Alaska. How long did it take to learn to use chop sticks? Do they offer regular sliver wear?
I've used chop sticks for years. Yep regular cutlery was available.
The seat and the whole layout around it looks so different from and much better than their A350-900. I don't really like JAL but would like to try this one day. Unfortunately they're only flying to America with this aircfart, but they have more on order, so hopefully they'll fly to Europe with it some time.
That takeoff roar! 😍 Did you use the same camera as your JAL first class flight as the engine was much louder this time!
Yep same camera. Yes those 5ish meters closer to the engine certainly provides for a better sounding trip!
I'm jealous Paul, I'm flying Sydney/London return JAL in a couple of weeks in business and wished it was on the A350. It's on the 787 but have the sky suite (apex suite) on both legs so I'm pleased about that as I think It's one of the best seats in the sky for business class and I have the window seat. Great review, I'm really looking forward to the Japanese menu, cheers
Hi Paul, thank you for your usual clinical description of the craft. Sorry you missed out on the gin selection opportunity. From my perspective the Japanese toilet innovation ought to be an universal application on all international flights. Top score for the cuisine on offer. I have yet to experience the A 350 and look forward to flying the Qantas A 350 1000 on the proposed routes. Looking forward to viewing your return trip video, trust it is not a Qantas A 330!? Cheers and thanks for sharing a bit of reality.
Cheers! My return flight (this morning) was a JL 777-300ER which made for a great flight as it was a business-service but in the old first class seats (first isn't sold on this route, yet) so I slept very well :) No vlog, though, since it's an odd combination of J/F product.
@@PaulStewartAviation ah, mate that is just the kind of video that would cheer up a cynical long term traveller. When your luck kicks in, just wallow in it. Well done! Cheers
Hi Paul. I’m glad if I ever had the chance to fly this plane with the wife I can put the middle screen UP. 😂😂 some of your humour back at ya. Cheers Scotty Canberra.
Cheers Scotty!
1:07 I’m not from NY so I assumed the mural was the Manhattan skyline…🧐 Until I spotted the Space Needle of Seattle 😅 very cool concept
Excellent review. Personally, I'd prefer the seat right next to the window. For me, the best part of any flight is the view out of the window. And you got some awesome ones on that flight. Other than that, I was very impressed by that seat and everything that came with it. The food looked very interesting and appealing. I'd spend much of the flight sampling as much of it as I could.
Thanks
It's another amazing review of a spectacular aircraft from a wonderful airlines.
I remember that you also flew Apex suite of JL. Can you compare the new and old suite?
New is better in every way 😃
@@PaulStewartAviation that makes me really surprised because on the website, the Apex is much wider. I am really glad that JL will bring A35J to LHR in 2024 fiscal year.
San Kuala Yorkneydon... the city in the mural is definitely San Kuala Yorkneydon 👍👍 Or possibly Grafton. 🤔
Clearly not Grafton! Looks like Lismore to me! 🤭
One of the last few aviation channels I still watch. No click bait, calming, and good product showcase. Wish more opinion on the hard product was given, though subjective. No air vents but comfortable for "most" of the flight worries me. I like it very cool, and my jal 1st class experience on 777 was so warm, id avoid jal despite having best service and food. It's unforgivable omitting air vents on a modern plane, yet the costs of those headrests speakers are infinitely more than air vents are.
The seat look flat, with little padding, contours. Are they more comfortable than they look?
Heaps of padding, they’re very comfy
And thanks for the feedback. Yes I hate how click baity flight vloggers have become. My approach is to show you the product so you can decide yourself
Hello! I am about to have the same class next month and I am really excited about it. I wonder how do you stabilize your DJI pocket 3 on the window? I check their store and I do not find any mount that can do that. The only one I found is a mount that supports Osmo series instead of the pocket series. Can you please tell me which mount do you use? Thank you.
I just held it. I don’t use any mounts
Love the video, always wondered, is youtube your day job?
No it’s not, just a hobby :)
Awesome video Paul The A350 sure is a beautiful bird you should do some flight reviews on edelweiss A340 or Lufthansa
Yes I'm really keen to get onboard a LH A340-600 before they're retired.
@@PaulStewartAviation yes thh he e A340 -600 would be a great to fly on but I think the - 300 would feel interesting given it has CFMs on it but I can’t wait for more content Paul !
@@Rwlp_PhotoGraphy nah the -600 engines look way cooler haha
@@PaulStewartAviation fair enough just thought the “ under powered “ aspect of the A340-300 would be cool
You sure the lounge is named after the NYC Suburb and NOT the London area? Would make sense to be the latter since it's a BA & AA lounge.
The cabin style is so retro. Looks like 60s
The Greenwich lounge is the suburbs of New York and also London Chelsea and Soho
Nice coat
cheers haha
The plane's acceleration during takeoff and landing always messes with my Osmo Pocket 3 self-leveling when I'm recording out the window with it, I didn't see that happen with your video, did you alter some settings to mitigate that?
I must admit that I used my gopro for the takeoff as I was worried about this. But this was the first landing I filmed with the Osmo and I've turned the self-levelling off. You're right in that otherwise the takeoff is a mess.
Nice video - did I hear you say - Gren witch !!! Instead of Gren itch ? 😂
Ops possibly 😂 blame my aussie accent
I heard that too😅but it’s weird that Green is in the name but it’s “Gren-itch” not like the color🟩 And NYC also has Houston street pronounced “How-Sten” instead of like the Texas city 😜 English is a strange language lol. Another great video 👍
cute socks! (:
haha cheers
did you happen to use points to redeem? If so, what card did you use
I use multiple cards
Nice, but Business class without included Wi-Fi seems insulting. There could be rules which I'm unaware of, but there should be no technical reason why you can't use a VPN through the Wi-Fi and in fact many business flyers may need VPNs for connecting to their workplaces.
If a VPN doesn't work it means that they're probably blocking all ports except for HTTP/S or something; precisely the kind of situation in which VPNs can serve a useful purpose.
100% agree with you, it's pretty terrible. I've flown this route on the new A350's a few times in the last few weeks and it appears that Panasonic has blocked all/most vpn protocols on their latest sattelite wifi systems. My corporate vpn would not work at all, and even ssh to normal or ephemeral ports would not work. I found one well known global VPN provider who uses a proprietary protocol that did work, but I'm wondering how long that will continue. 100% agree this is a bad look for Panasonic and JAL - i can understand blocking streaming given the bandwidth footprint, but blocking corporate vpn's is just dumb.
Yeh wifi is pretty basic these days.
It's basically First Class. I struggle to see what FC could offer beyond this.
Check out my video and see :) the seat is double the size
Yeah I agree, maybe slightly better food and definitely premium champagne and wines but comfort wise just as good.
@@rod_at_adelaide5766 If there is no demand for first class, JAL won't offer it. Clearly there is demand for first class, whether you think its worth it or not.
You're already in your own private suite, with large lye-flat seat and excellent food, what more can you have? FC will cost at least 2X the price of this, and for what?
@@karlp8484 Do you think JAL has a First class just for the fun of it? They are there to make money. There is demand for First class, regardless of what you think. Some people clearly feel its worthwhile.
How far in advance did you book these flights?
Feb 2024
I thought for the value of business class was almost as good as your first class .. your thoughts.,
To be honest, you’re probably right. Sure, first class is a massive seat but this is also very good.
Have you flown on ANA business or first class?
I tried ANA's 787 business class years ago but not recently. I'm mostly locked into One World airlines.
Seattle, I think.
I hope the storage was enough I find bloggers like the look of missing centre bins but ask aircrew there are never enough j/c bins
Generally speaking I don't see the point of removing them. Who cares what it looks like? It's a cabin, not a shopping centre. The priority should be comfort and practicality and more storage is usually better.
They didn't want to pay the tariff for the alcohol if they served it on the ground at JFK.
JAL vs ANA business class...which is better?
I haven't done ANA's newest business class so I couldn't fairly compare them
If it wasn't for the mediocre IFE content, I would count this as the best business class onboard product in the asia pacific region
Agreed
Every JAL flight I have been on has been unbearably hot (to the point that people complained). As I understand it they set their temperature to 26c which is way too hot for sleeping.
yeah I think this was one of the few JAL flights where I didn't ask for the temperature to be reduced. Maybe they've had a change of policy?
@@PaulStewartAviation thanks - and appreciated the review (I could see my apartment in Tokyo as you came into land which was especially fun)!
@@stephenmcwilliams6013 you’re welcome :)
haha at 2:52 maybe some poor guy just left his iMac behind!
:)
It’s similar to Q-suites which Qatar have had for years
It’s true, JAL are catching up to QR who are the benchmark,
The bidet 😂
Clarkson's farm! Just finished the latest series
how good is it??
@@PaulStewartAviation Really good! I think the series have gradually got better as he has found his swing, and the other people have become more used to the cameras etc.
@@shehebehsuebwisshgauwbevsjs yes that's true. I must admit that the episode where they made the car park was very Top Gear-ish. "How hard can it be?" haha. It certainly portray's Clarkson in a better light after his recent gaffes...
@@PaulStewartAviation yep wholly agreed. Also the humour is less staged than it felt for the grand tour, more subtle (like his saying 'so we'll be in a range rover selling small bags of powder', which unless you know is referencing drug dealers just seems like a casual comment, whereas for the grand tour they would have had the car blowing up etc.)
@@shehebehsuebwisshgauwbevsjs yes the humour was pretty poor with the first series of The Grand Tour. It's almost like the BBC moderated Jezza's (sometimes) stupidity. But as TGT matured, it thankfully became more like Top Gear and much funnier.
Aluminum construction aircraft don't rust either! Aluminum doesn't rust!!
JAL is always reliable
You can sit in business class, why can't I afford it?
there is still any barking dog in A350?
That hydraulic sound?
@@PaulStewartAviation yes, i call it barking dog.
@@dondychristianto783 ah yep I know what you're talking about. Hmmm I don't think I did hear it. It certainly wasn't as noticeable as the A320
@@PaulStewartAviation thats good. the last time i fly with 330 still have a barking dog. i donnt know why boeing donnt have it.
Love the video. Can't believe still the mask wearing
Asians always wear masks if they have any respiratory symptoms
? Price range? They are a good airline, must in the higher level. 🤭
The prices depend on your route and dates. JAL and ANA are relatively cheap for Aussies.
Greenwich is pronounced 'grenich'.
"Grenwich"? It's pronounced "Grenitch".

People who have never been overseas 👇
I’ve been to 9 countries and I’m 11
I went to Vietnam in 2019
No offence here but I find your voice hard to understand because it seems sort of “trapped “ in your throat most of the time! Any viewers feel the same?!
🤷♂️
Dress appropriately. What is the point of flying in business class when you make first impression of an ordinary Joe from economy class working for peanuts in McDonalds?
😂😂
People who can afford it don’t really care what impression they are making. When I get to fly business class I always try to stay awake to enjoy the amenities. Those who can actually afford it regularly just go sleep immediately. As they should.
It’s a long flight. Comfy cloth is better.
@@benbaran4517 it's true. You can always spot someone who is flying in first/business for the first time as they dress-up. Everyone else just dresses comfortably (other than the odd very insecure person in a suit)
stop cutting off the takeoff roll. the entire thing is half the reason I watch these videos.
Every time i include the full takeoff the views drop off 🤷♂️ . The full takeoff and landing videos are on my 2nd channel
But that has no interest my friends, it is not a cruise aboard a liner which will last 15 days, it is simply a trip or a plane trip which will last a few hours , because people do not intend to spend their 15 days of vacation on board a plane, all this is completely ridiculous, that's what I think!!!
Kk
Cool 🤷♂️😂
I suspect most people travelling on business-class are on corporate trips. But there are always people who have money and wish to fly in style.
