You can actually book a ticket from Newark Airport on Swiss to London City the same is also said for JFK Amsterdam schiphol London City airport. Even though there is an option of flying the British carriers like British Airways and Virgin Atlantic from both EWR/JFK. Like it and in East Asia you should have tried the Korean Air version 10:59 the thames barrier
You can fly from pretty much anywhere in the world to London city, if you're willing to connect at a hub. I regularly used to fly to various cities from London city with KLM, connecting in Amsterdam.
@th8257 thank you for telling me about that are there flights from London City operated by KLM timed to connect to KLM Asia flight 807/808 Luchthaven Amsterdam schiphol🇳🇱 to Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport🇵🇭. That way traffic to Heathrow might be avoided
London City Airport is still quite small. I remember taking a 55 minute flight from Antwerp, stepping out of the plane, walking into the arrival hall, tripping over the carpet and fracturing my pubic bone. Fun times! After beging helped by the stewardesses and the pilot from the plane and some fire fighters and getting some oxygen, off i went to Eastham Hospital where I spent almost a week yapping in pain and enjoying their Indian meals (most of the patients were Indian, thankfully) until an ambulance took me back under the Channel to good old Belgium. A PR from the airport visited me in the hospital a day after the accident, carrying a huge basket full of chocolates, sweets, fruit and books. That wouldn't have happened at Heathrow I'm sure ;-)

Thanks. Very good video. I have a flight with Swiss on their A220 Business class this September 2024. My first time on the Airbus A220 aircraft. Looking forward!

Fun fact, LCY is not the only one of London's airports that are actually in London. Heathrow is in the London Borough of Hillingdon, so is within the official definition of Greater London's 32 boroughs. City Airport is in the London Borough of Newham.
My problem with LCY is that they don't offer a lounge which makes waiting for the plane quite unpleasant. But I also like the Airbus A220 with its large windows, nice seats and little screens for flight information. Some also like the loud spooling up noise of the PW engines which is typical for all modern PW engines on the A220, the A320neos and the new Gulfstream G7 jets G500/G600.
Awesome Swiss Business Class flight review there The Flip Flop Traveller!, Qantas are now using the A220 for their domestic routes around Australia., i believe they have more A220's on order!.
LYC is on my list now, never heard of it (embarrassingly). The observation deck at ZRH is fantastic with speakers connected to the ATC, spacious BC lounge, and the airport hotel (Raddison blu). Cheers.
London city airport is great fun. A number of airlines use it. It's incredibly quick and easy to use and the views you get when landing / taking off are great. You can get into central London so easily too on the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) which connects with the tube. The station is joined on to the terminal.
The point of LCY isn't to be amazing, but rather to be convenient. Security never takes more than 5 minutes, even at peak time, and you can arrive half an hour before a flight.
London is an incredible city. The population is around 10 million. It can be it’s own separate country. London has 3 major airports and a London city airport, where you can reach anywhere in the British isles and Europe within an hour by private jet.
I have to disgaree on the comment "Is London City amazing?" In my opinion, for what I want an airport to be - convenient, hassle free, fast, in the centre of the city...it is amazing. Built on a former dock, where you can still see the dock freight railway lines embedded beside the runway, the ability to imagine then deliver an airport is incredible. The airport knows its customer and focuses on serving their needs well. The building itself could have a a significant redeisgn and upgrade. Flights into LCY typically have a price premium and it's worth it. Note there is a railway (DLR) station at the airport with direct services to Stratford, Bank, Tower Gateway, and Woolwich, which run every five minutes or so, the fare when paid by card, to Stratford is £1.90.
I’m thinking of coming from Buckinghamshire, Amersham to Aldgate all the way on the metropolitan line, walk down the minors to tower gate, then DLR to LCY airport, not bad eh,
fun fact: the elevation of ZRH is 432m AMSL. (I just thought of that haha) I remember some of your previous videos included airport elevation, and if you've ever considered adding it back I think it's may (or may not) be quite cool for your analytical viewers to find interesting!
I took out elevation (and very recently population as well) because of the number of comments that I’d constantly get saying it was wrong (when it wasn’t) 😂.
Haha yes of course- but most would consider downtown and midtown Manhattan to be the heart of the city, from which Central Park is a few miles away, just helping to put it into perspective for those who may not know how convenient LGA is 😉
@@tfft in my opinion LCY is not intended for connecting flights. I don't see the point of flying from LCY if it's to waste time on a connecting flight. If you want to fly long haul LHR and LGW have enough direct worldwide routes. LCY is a niche market for commuters and business travelers which both East London and the Geneva area have plenty of. It is a real shame that they use a bus gate in Zurich and not a real jet bridge like they used to do at GVA. More time wasted for nothing!
Great review Kevin. I jumped forward your videos, I'm working from oldest and am currently just after India ! So nice to see you keep tweeking the format with the scores and what all. I'd still leave the FlipFlop score card to the end though with some thoughts ... keep the score secret to the end.... Well done for bagging that first Bombardier ! If you ever go to Gibraltar and walk across the runway from your hotel then I will raid my very small piggy bank for a thanks for you. It's a strange place, like 1980s UK or Isle of Man but with monkeys !
I put the score at the beginning because I want people to watch and take note of things in the context of knowing the overall experience already. Without that, a clip here or there of the video could anecdotally give the wrong impression. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Thanks, very interesting, but you headed for the east side of the airport and took off to the west. I've only used LCY once to NCE on a BA Embraer, great Club World English breakfast and excellent seats.
Another great video! I haven't flown SWISS yet, however, it looks like their the soft product seemed fine for business class. The chocolate at the end is a nice touch! On the other hand, the aircraft interior looks quite old and outdated especially with all the marks and stains that have been acquired through the years. I hope to fly via LCY soon, it's only 30 mins away from me and I constantly see planes lining up to land. The airport looks pretty straightforward too.
Was a good movie to watch. Swiss is belong to Lufthansa and the service is datable , , SwissAir was topnotch and honestly, I avoid where I can to fly Lufthansa or Swiss!
How was Stratford now a days Kev ?......I had a house there.....but sold it last 2019 and moved back here in Philippines for good.....lived there since 1986.....
@tfft oh ok.....it wasn't yhe same as it was before.....there's just too much crime and violence there now.....hence the reason of us moving out kf there.....
An interesting Video and Flight.... Thanks. But I have a question please, is this voice actually yours, because it sounds very manufactured? Apologies if I am mistaken, but it does sound odd....??? Thanks.
2-3 seating. Probably designed for 2-2 but airlines seem to always squeeze a few extra seats out of every aluminum tube. Or, was it 3-3 in economy? Impossible, you say?
Not the case for this one. 2-3 was designed purposely to have wider seats than any competing aircraft while making it physically impossible to install 3-3. Remember, the Canadians are nice people lol.
@@tfft Sure Canadians are great pepple. Have known one for about fifty years now. Governments are a different story. Canadians and Americans seem to have to suffer through some oddball governments in recent years. But what has all that got to do with this airplane or Swiss airlines or better airline seating?
In 2024 Airbus is World leader by far. Do you remember this: New York Times 11 April 1969 « Britain Abandons the European Airbus Project; Believes Building the Plane Is a Losing Proposition. » British 'wisdom'..😂😂 Then France asked Germany if they wanted to continue the A300 project, and signed an agreement 50-50 at 1969 Paris Air Show.
Unless I missed it, there was no shot of what the cabin looks like in general. It was just up the steps and then skip to a shot of the seat. I understand the preference to not show random people, but if you are doing a flight review and don't show a few shots of how the cabin generally looks, it feels lacking in my opinion.
An opinion you are more than welcome to. If and when it's possible or relevant, I do it. Let's remember in some countries it is completly illegal to film someone without the prior consent. This doesn't mean you can just film them and then blur their face. In countries like Switzerland, Germany, etc., the very act of recording someone in any way is a crime. Publishing that recording is an additional crime. When I can, I try to push the boundries as far as I can in more public setting, but in a confined cabin, when it is full of people- it is not an option in some places.
@@tfft Yes got it. Big fan of the channel. But thought I'd share feedback that I felt without a shot of the cabin I wasn't able to get a sense of what the experience feels like. Never been on a A220, so I was thinking to myself "okay will be interesting to see if the cabin looks cramped vs spacious", but then never got the chance in the video to see the cabin However, I understand the constraints. Again, love the channel, keep it up!
@@tfft From my location to ZRH is 2h + min 1.5h Checkin and Passport check for UK + 1:45 Flight + 30‘ to exit + 30‘ to city total 7:15 (best case), while my Train actually takes indeed 9h but does this really matter?
You can't beat London City for convenience, in contrast to the pain in the ass it takes to get to Heathrow or Gatwick. A shame its limited to regional flights to Europe only.
It can be faster to fly long haul into Amsterdam then make a 50 min connection to LCY, than flying into Heathrow or Gatwick to get to Canary Wharf or much of east London. Except of course on Sunday mornings 😞
f you're travelling further afield and willing to connect, then flying to and from London city with KLM to connect in Amsterdam, Lufthansa to connect in Frankfurt, Milan / Rome with ITA, is well worth it.
@@tfftIndeed I was just about to mention SEN. It's only a little bit further out than LTN or STN. Point is that London is spread out and most people do not reside in the city itself. Hence the most convenient airport depends on where you live and/or work.
I'm so glad they've done away with the security-theater liquid restrictions! That said, on my last flight, the stewardess asked for my drink order. I said I'll have a "Molotov cocktail" The pilot returned to the airport. Fml smh. You know what to do Kevv 👇
Not sure Boeing will ever recover from their disastrous move on the Bombardier C Series. They didn't want to compete against it, and now it's an Airbus A220. CHEH!
City center airports really shouldn't be allowed to remain open once larger hubs are completed outside the city. It's a bad and unproductive use of land even if you ignore the well documented health impacts for air quality in the surrounding area. LCY, DCA, SAN, DAL, and SJC all fall into this category. It makes connections difficult and diverts resources that would otherwise go into better connecting the main airport to the city.
Have u ever been through london city, it's mainly for business ess travel and the way they stay relevant is by keeping everything quick and smooth even during peak times
Admire the dedication of arriving 2.5 hours early at London City Airport. I've arrived 40 minutes before departure before and I still had time to get a coffee.

Awesome Swiss Business Class flight review there The Flip Flop Traveller!, Qantas are now using the A220 for their domestic routes around Australia., i believe they have more A220's on order!.
I think I'm quite alright not flying Qantas for the next decade or so lol.
LYC is on my list now, never heard of it (embarrassingly). The observation deck at ZRH is fantastic with speakers connected to the ATC, spacious BC lounge, and the airport hotel (Raddison blu). Cheers.
Ahh I spent quite a bit of time on that observation deck… but there were no speakers!
@@tfft They used to be near the telescopes, however I'm not surprised being out in the open weather and all.
London city airport is great fun. A number of airlines use it. It's incredibly quick and easy to use and the views you get when landing / taking off are great. You can get into central London so easily too on the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) which connects with the tube. The station is joined on to the terminal.
The other interesting thing about LCY is that ATC is fully remote. They have a remote location 115 Km away. With very secure high speed networking!
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Thanks for this vlog. The take-off is like at John Wayne airport in California. Awesome. Thank you.
Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft 🛫👍
The point of LCY isn't to be amazing, but rather to be convenient. Security never takes more than 5 minutes, even at peak time, and you can arrive half an hour before a flight.
Sure, wasn't suggesting it should have been a mini Changi 😉
Loved the video good to your experience out of LCY.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
London is an incredible city. The population is around 10 million. It can be it’s own separate country. London has 3 major airports and a London city airport, where you can reach anywhere in the British isles and Europe within an hour by private jet.
Europe's bigger than you suggest. London to Sicily - my last trip - was about three hours.
Yeah I was gonna say, Turkish Airlines might disagree with the one hour comment 😂
@@well-blazeredman6187 I said by private jet. Off course commercial airlines will be slightly longer. I work in travel and tourism.
I don’t think there are any private jets flying at 1500 MPH…
Private jets use other London airports, like Biggins Hill. Worth to mention that you cannot fly anywhere in Europe within one hour.
Amazing as in a full feature destination airport 😉
Great video, there is another one Southend but with very limited EZJ flights to leisure destinations
FYI Next year sees EZY opening a SEN base.
Thanks for watching 🩴
The area covered by London City Airport is around 600,000 m2. That represents a value of around 6 billion euro!
Staggering!
LCY is more located like a LaGuardia than in Central Park (given most people would say the centre of london would be something like Oxford Circus)
Good video anyway, subscribed!
Haha yes of course- but most would consider downtown and midtown Manhattan to be the heart of the city, from which Central Park is a few miles away, just helping to put it into perspective for those who may not know how convenient LGA is 😉
A fun trip could be bll to lcy on a fairchild dornier 328jet
Ah I’ve always wanted to fly on a 328! Was looking at Denver Air to possibly try in the future.
Can anyone confirm Swiss no longer serves LCY from Geneva?
No, they don't. You can find all the info on the London city airport website and filter by airline.
@@zeddeka So sad! I think GVA-LCY was much better suited than ZRH-LCY.
Better suited for who? lol... Zurich is SWISS' true connection hub.
Hi Kevin. Many, many years ago, possibly even before you were born😅 planes always spooled up with their brakes on. Thanks for another great review
Yes, that was pre-Kevin haha
I'd like to experience rocket launch too 😂😂 . Thanks Kevin for a quality review as always.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Which camera are you using too?
All of my content is filmed on iPhones.
@@tfft the quality is amazing! Which iPhone are you using?
Thanks, very interesting, but you headed for the east side of the airport and took off to the west. I've only used LCY once to NCE on a BA Embraer, great Club World English breakfast and excellent seats.
Yes, there was a text correction in the video 😉 Thanks for watching 🩴
Tfft, I look forward to the video of the hotel you stayed in Stratford and the beautiful sunset 🤣
Lol no video coming.
@@tfft I thought not😂
That's my kind of take off!!
Same here!
Any reviews from London hotels coming up?
No plans for any, no.
London has 6 airports, you're forgetting London Southend Airport.
Heathrow is also inside the M25 so is considered 'in London'.
Isn't Southend closer to France than London? lol
City Airport actually isn’t in the City, but is in Greater London…but Heathrow is too
Thanks for watching 🩴
Another great video! I haven't flown SWISS yet, however, it looks like their the soft product seemed fine for business class. The chocolate at the end is a nice touch! On the other hand, the aircraft interior looks quite old and outdated especially with all the marks and stains that have been acquired through the years.
I hope to fly via LCY soon, it's only 30 mins away from me and I constantly see planes lining up to land. The airport looks pretty straightforward too.
Personally I think these interiors are the 2nd best of any Euro business class out there!
@@tfft what’s the first?
There is a sixth London airport called Southend.
Which is in Essex haha.
Yeah, I gotta draw the line somewhere. Kinda like saying Stewart or Islip is a NYC airport.
Flawless! 😍
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Was a good movie to watch. Swiss is belong to Lufthansa and the service is datable , , SwissAir was topnotch and honestly, I avoid where I can to fly Lufthansa or Swiss!
Thanks for watching 🩴
In 2 weeks again! Geneva - Copenhagen Swiss A220
Enjoy your trip 🗺️
@@tfft thanks!
How was Stratford now a days Kev ?......I had a house there.....but sold it last 2019 and moved back here in Philippines for good.....lived there since 1986.....
It served its purpose lol. Was a bit more upscale suburbia than I was expecting.
@tfft oh ok.....it wasn't yhe same as it was before.....there's just too much crime and violence there now.....hence the reason of us moving out kf there.....
They need to install full recline, business class seats on these aeroplanes!!
Umm, so you'd need to invent the seat because there are no A220s with lie flat seats lol
Great video. Just a small detail, it was runway 27 at takeoff, not 09.
Yes, thanks for that!
Thank You ✈️
Thanks for watching 🩴
I’m sure the flight attendants were thinking “oh crap, Kevin is on this flight…better not forget the safety video!” 🙃
Surely they fear all Kevins now 😅
Awesome 👌
Thanks for watching 🩴
An interesting Video and Flight.... Thanks. But I have a question please, is this voice actually yours, because it sounds very manufactured? Apologies if I am mistaken, but it does sound odd....??? Thanks.
Hmm, I’m curious what your voice sounds like…Yes, this is my voice.
Nice video
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
2-3 seating.
I believe that the A318 was superior in everything to the A220, wider and more comfortable.
Unless it was an all business class A318, I'll wholeheartedly disagree lol
Ha I call DLs 221's rocket ships too
😅
In 2024 Airbus is World leader by far. Do you remember this: New York Times 11 April 1969 « Britain Abandons the European Airbus Project; Believes Building the Plane Is a Losing Proposition. » British 'wisdom'..😂😂
Then France asked Germany if they wanted to continue the A300 project, and signed an agreement 50-50 at 1969 Paris Air Show.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Never been on a A220, so I was thinking to myself "okay will be interesting to see if the cabin looks cramped vs spacious", but then never got the chance in the video to see the cabin
However, I understand the constraints. Again, love the channel, keep it up!
i‘ll travel by train. Cheaper and less CO2. Probably even faster.
London to Zurich by train is like 8 hours 😅
@@tfft From my location to ZRH is 2h + min 1.5h Checkin and Passport check for UK + 1:45 Flight + 30‘ to exit + 30‘ to city total 7:15 (best case), while my Train actually takes indeed 9h but does this really matter?
You can't beat London City for convenience, in contrast to the pain in the ass it takes to get to Heathrow or Gatwick. A shame its limited to regional flights to Europe only.
Agreed!
Interesting flight 👍✈️🇷🇺

6 airports include london southend
I mean yes, but the cutoff has to be somewhere lol. Otherwise we could say NYC has 8 airports and LA like 12 😂
@@tfftIndeed I was just about to mention SEN. It's only a little bit further out than LTN or STN. Point is that London is spread out and most people do not reside in the city itself. Hence the most convenient airport depends on where you live and/or work.
SWISS🇨🇭❤

I'm so glad they've done away with the security-theater liquid restrictions!
That said, on my last flight, the stewardess asked for my drink order. I said I'll have a "Molotov cocktail"
The pilot returned to the airport. Fml smh.
You know what to do Kevv 👇

Not sure Boeing will ever recover from their disastrous move on the Bombardier C Series. They didn't want to compete against it, and now it's an Airbus A220.
CHEH!

You forgot London Southend Airport 😂
I mean, there's gotta be a cutoff somewhere lol
Long pants?
December? Lol

Disagree from the bottom of my heart lol
Have u ever been through london city, it's mainly for business ess travel and the way they stay relevant is by keeping everything quick and smooth even during peak times
Consider flying economy sometimes 😊
You speak as if I don’t already have like 50 economy videos on the channel 😂
The liquid restrictions are back in action unfortunately
In LCY? Really? Funny I haven't seen anything written about that.
Where were the promised trip cost figures? Getting forgetful in our old age, are we?
They’re literally in the description. Losing your eyesight, eh?
