creepy pastas gave me many many sleepless, terrified nights as a child, but are now some of my fondest memories and got me into my interest with horror.
Bro, sonic.exe was the one that fucked me up the most as a kid, even as an adult its still creepy.

The car light hoax is actually real because if you turn that little light on while your parents drive at night time then the light reflects from the windshield and your parents can't see the road. I've tried it and it is pretty annoying to drive with the little light on

Hoaxes are fascinating to learn more about. Seems like whenever there is a hoax, you wouldn't be able to tell if it genuinely is a hoax or not.
I remember my freind when i was like 10 was convincing everyone there was a tiger charecter in fnaf as a secret. Lol
it depends on the hoax, some are really obviously fake, but some are hard to tell. it also kinda depends on how stupid a person is as well.

another internet hoax is the 3am challenge. that trend had my dumbass staying up to 3am to talk to siri and being disappointed when she didn't sound demonic.
I remember in school where I was in the library and a lockdown happened, and it wasn't a drill. So, a few seconds later, my stupid-ass looked out the window. I saw a man dressed in a clown costume who was running from a police officer in the parking lot near the window where I was peeping through.

I wasn't afraid of the storys of creepy pasta but more scared of the thought of hen drown coming after me while i was playing Majora's mask and that game was already creepy as hell
Or even Slenderman since he came from creepypasta as 11 year old me thinked Slenderman was real since my friends in elementary school said he was real and can travel to every city. So I made sure to lock everything in my room each night just to make sure he didn’t come in my room.

I looked it up years after it was a thing, like 2013. That thing somehow made me unable to sleep.

I did the Bloody Mary thing years back at a sleepover and after doing the requirements me and my friend did the thing and sat with in bathroom for about 2 minutes until nothing was happening and we played Nintendo for the rest of the night
The thing with car lights is because it makes everything from the back window look darker, same reason a room you can BARELY see in is still not a room where a torch is a good idea. Another example being how stars are easier to see if their are no lights on.

Looking back most Creepypastas were fucking awful to read with how poorly written most of them were especially the newer ones, but as a kid I found shit like Sonic.exe, Herobrine, Squidward's Suicide and Ben Drowned to be genuinely scary but then again I was like 7 or 8 years old back then around like 2012 and I am almost in my 20s.

another hoax is those never ending surveys to get 3 free iphones. they claim that you only have one more step to go, but next thing you know, you're completing a 2 hour survey. i always hated how they would make you download a game and play it for 30 seconds, but they could never verify that you played it or even downloaded it. i also hated how they would ask irrelevant questions like what's my parent's income or if anyone in my family is sick... or when they'd try to make you buy a gift card.
Not only that but they would also take you to new tabs and claim your phone hacked. Smh those were annoying af

Man I really do miss this stuff honestly like one of the playground rumors my friend told me was when you beat Luigis mansion you can play as Mario and I believed that until I actually beat the game and found out you couldn’t, but still same with the bloody Mary thing I genuinely believe that, and I remember vividly doing it. I was scared out of my mind, but it was awesome. I miss all the stuff honestly I wish I could go back to it.
I got in a deep rabbit hole of fake Minecraft creepy pastas when I was younger not just hero brine but other stuff like null or other ones I forgot.
Flashback to when my friend showed me minecraft and explained to me that in the tutorial world you have to break at least one block of all of the stone mob-statues so that when herobrine comes he can’t control them like giant monsters. This scarred me so much I to this day can’t play minecraft on my own without someone talking to me
