One of the dumbest reasons for canceling someone is when they accidentally don’t properly pronounce the name of a specific character in a game. Usually a good amount of the fanbase that plays the game is not in the same country as to where the game was created. For example, if you are from Europe, you will probably have a hard time pronouncing names that are primarily for Asians (for example, Park Hyung-Seok from Korea).

I always found that stupid. I'm one of those that internally cringes for a moment at mispronounced names, yet I just see that as a little funny. Especially thinking back to how I used to pronounce it the same way. I don't get why some people take it as a reason to cancel or harass someone.
Even if it's because the name is foreign, some people just dunno how to pronounce it. They're not trying to be offensive.
People seem to use the term canceling to mean “people on the internet got mad” and I feel like the word has essentially lost all weight from its original meaning where someone would actually take a major hit in their career for doing unacceptable things but now it’s just sooo overused

I remember a while ago Scott Cawthon, the creator of FNAF was cancelled because he donated to some Republicans that weren't so pro LGBTQ+. He didn't even donate to them because of that and still cancelled him. I remember him donating a lot (and I mean a lot) to charity's (some even LGBTQ+ orgs) yet they still cancelled him. He ended up retiring because of it. Probably one of the best examples of false cancelation.
Is that why he’s done with FNAF? I always was under the assumption that he’s washed up and he got tired. He still releases books and stuff and he’s making a movie though, also he’s helped with the recent FNAF books and games and the VR sequel coming out, so is he truly retired?

the internet really made everyone stupid, i swear. when i was young we were told dont believe everything you read or see online, and nowadays its believe everything you see or read online. we need to bring back those wacky early 2000s instructional videos about the importance of recognizing online dangers but replace it with how to properly research online
It's pretty darn annoying when others decide what's racist and cancel people over it.
For instance, if you wear steriotypical clothes based off of a certain culture and ask people if what you're doing is racist, then the people who aren't from the culture in question will usually state that doing that is racist, whereas most people from the culture itself are perfectly fine with it, as long as it's not utterly hateful clothing. There are some exceptions of this, but I'm not gonna go into full detail.
People like that are insufferable so much of the time, and actually racist by not listening to the people they're trying to defend.

Every day there’s a main character on Twitter, your goal is to not be that person.
I think it stems from the same issue.
People like to bandwagon.
No matter what people say to you, don’t immediately believe everything. Keep healthy skepticism and wait for more information, then you can decide the appropriate response without hurting anybody or embarrassing yourself
If there is one thing I've learned is that getting people hooked on misinformation is easy, and that once they have that opinion even showing them evidence of the contrary will not get them to change their mind, it's inherently simpler to just lie to people about most things especially when a situation is complicated.

the number of people that have had their careers ruined or something over a completely baseless claim is insane.
no one fact checks no one gets other peoples opinions (and when they do they often ignore it)
cancelling people over what they did years ago is dumb because people change, the saying "you wouldn't survive in a cod lobby" is thrown around a lot but that's strangely accurate, cod peaked at a point in time where edginess was at its social peak and now the current social peak is to be overly sensitive and serious about everything. But even now all the edgy teenagers that were playing cod in those lobbies and throwing around slurs like it was no bodies business, they've all grown up. (or at least most of them have).
I swear the term terminally online is going to become a full on mental disorder in the coming years, because the common behaviours of some of these people are insanely unhealthy for both themselves and the people around them.

I think there’s a difference between getting “cancelled” and getting cancelled, when you’re “cancelled” in most cases nothing ever happens, a very small amount of people care about it for a few days, and normally the thing that started it was dumb to begin with. And when you actually get cancelled, it’s because you were an actual awful human being. Mr.Beast as an example of the former and people like Bill Cosby as an example of the latter.
