I'm sure you guys are thinking I bought another vehicle. Actually this is an old co workers Dad's Truck. It is a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado. He wanting me to install a 2.5/1.5 leveling kit and a set of wheel spacers or wheel adapters. In this video I will show you how to install a cheap leveling kit on a 2019-2021 Chevy Silverado. This leveling kit will also work for 2019-2022 GMC Sierra. I also show you how to install wheel spacers or wheel adapters on a 2019-2021 Chevy Silverado. As many of you know I am not much of a lift guy but have to say this new look with the level and wheel spacers looks great and I may have to do one down the road for myself. I also got a chance to drive it down the road afterwards and it rides just as good as stock. For a cheap Silverado or sierra leveling kit I think this works great.

One of the few good channels without any overpowering music, just narration and work. Keep it up 👍🏻
Thank you. I do put some music in every once in a while
Yes, I totally enjoyed this video. I just bought a used 2019 Silverado LT and I wanted to give it the ‘Trail Boss’ lift, without spending Trail Boss money. I wanted a little lift, but I do tow, so I wanted more than a level kit. So your video was perfect for me! I wanted to see / learn what was involved with the rear! Thank you for making / posting!
Thank you. I appreciate the comments
Thank You Sir. I just bought a left over 2024 silverado work truck in single cab short bed and will be doing the same to mine. You helped me a lot to see whats required,
Glad I could help
I've done a few of these. On the front, there isn't any need for the spring compressor. Also the 2ay the spacer is supposed to work is... there are socket headed bolts provided, and they are supposed the thread in from the bottom side, and then point up forming a stud just like the original strut. Then the spacer sits on top of the strut and nuts onto the original studs with the provided washers and nuts. You than spin the entire assembly around 180⁰ degrees and put it back in the truck and use the original factory nuts to mount it to the frame just like factory.
Yes in this cheapo kit that wasn't the case
I just did this to my 2021 and I installed the studs to mounting bracket for the strut from the bottom and then used the factory nuts on the top. After I did that I held the spacer up in postion and marked. It made things easier.
Nice. Definitely easier I bet
Thank you for showing more of the "how to." I really like this video!
Thank you.
Among everyone on RUclips in this field, but you are the best because of the amount of diversity in cars in each video. Especially with GM vehicles. Great work
Thank you very much for that comment
Ive had a very similar kit on my truck for over 30,000 miles, and recently my upper ball joint failed. I strongly suggest replacing the upper control arms while you have this apart, or else in 30,000 ish miles youre going to take it all back apart to put arms in!
This truck had 1000 miles on it
@TWAMotorsports yes, mine did too when I put the kit on, but, and mostly for the benefit of those coming here because they are considering doing this to their truck. Right around 30,000 miles of having this on the truck my right upper ball joint failed, and it is because I lifted it. It didn't come apart, but it shifted enough that the tire started rubbing it. You might want to save yourself the trouble and put aftermarket control arms on when you install the kit, otherwise you have to pretty much do the job over again to remove the struts to access the bolts for the upper control arms instead of taking an extra 10 minutes to do them the first time you have it apart. Also you may want to keep an eye on this truck in the video for loose ball joints, that's bad news if one comes apart!
@Dumbass_mechanic and this isn't my truck. Friends dad.
Did help the look of the truck...im just not too into these yet...and I see them at work everyday 😄
Yeah looks better but I'm not sold yet.
The truck looks good. I like lowered trucks but I get it because it is a 4WD. Great instructional video Travis.
Thank you Larry. Me too Lol
I like it. Not too much, just looks a little meaner with that levelling kit.
Not a huge change
To protect your threads when using a pry bar, thread on the nuts and use them as your surface. Also, e brake will hold the back rotors and just have some apply the brakes while doing the front for torquing without wheel.
Definitely good advice
Hey I’ve got a lowered Chevy, and a leveled Ford. Variety is good.
Nothing wrong with that
Drive a lifted Suburban 7.5in on 22x12 on33s. Next is my dad's 94 suburban dropped. Love the videos 👌👌👌👌👌
Thank you. Sounds like some good projects.
Perfect, well done presentation. You have absolutely convinced me I need to hire this out. Or buy a lot of stuff.
Thank you
Awesome video. That truck is definitely in good hands.
With wheel spacers, speaking from experience. Always make sure they are hub centric and MADE IN USA 🇺🇸. Some guys even put a bit of blue thread locker for peace of mind.
Thank you. It was nice to do something different
Thank you for this video!! Why do some people say not to lift from the differential? It drives me crazy. I see a lot of people do it, but something in my head says not too...
Glad I could help
I might have seen a few of your videos. I love dropped trucks but this came through because I brought a new truck and thinking about a lift. I didn't want to go crazy so this looks right up my alley. This is going to be a watch later again video. Thanks. Subbing.
Thank you for watching and subscribing
It looks good, Definitely more aggressive! All it needs now is a wheel and tire. 👍🏽
I agree with that
I finally got around to watching this video. I love how thorough you are. This is a nice simple lift that looks good. Do you know if he was able to get a good alignment after this was done? Yes do more lifts/levels.
Thank you. He didn't say they had issues with alignment
Good Monday evening TW.. wow that Z71 is sweeeeeet 👍.... Lift it... WOW.. that's very clean underneath... Nice set up he bought.... Looks great.. The only thing is I'm not a huge fan of wheel spacers.... But if you get a good brand it's a plus... 👍. Your you tube gear looks and sounds great on my surround sound system TV in my living room 👍🇺🇲
Thank you Keith. Its nice to do something different
Those Allen bolts should of threaded up through the bottom of the spacer. The new nuts thread the spacers to the struts. Then the oe nuts thread over the Allen bolts like stock. Just for future reference.
Not with this cheap ebay leveling kit
Thank you for taking on a current gen Silverado, can't wait to see if you ever slam one on the ground or a current gen Yukon / Tahoe with that IRS, for now I'll enjoy my slammed 04 Yukon keep up the good work 👍
Thank you. Maybe eventually
Great video! One of the best I've seen regarding the new Chevy trucks. I purchased a MotoFab lift kit that I will be installing soon on my 2020 Silverado. I'd like to know what strut compressor was used in the video?
I did try the link that was provided, but it doesn't work.
Thanks.
Thank you. Mine is a cheap one. I think I listed in video description
I wonder if you could fit some bigger tires on those stock rims that would look nice
Probably
Very well put together truck and video. Did it seem like the front was sitting higher than the rear if so was that the desired look?
Thank you. It did look a little higher but was even.
I can't believe how much them trucks cost... looks good.
It is crazy!
Those wheel spacers look like they are definitely not the right hub size since you can move it up and down while it's all the way on. Sketchy. Also the Allen key bolts are supposed to thread up from the underside of the spacer so the bottom of the bolt goes up and threw the strut tower and you use factory nuts to mount them up. Everyone does it this way tho making it a lot more hassle.
Instructions were sketchy. Cheap parts are what was at play here. Lol
@@TWAMotorsports ya that's fair. The rancho struts confuse me a little to. I thought those only came on the trail boss. Meaning upper control arms probably won't last long with a 4.5" over default silverado height lol.
This was install parts for a friend's dad they ordered situation. I offered my thoughts but did what they wanted. Lol
Great vid. Great content, super detailed, and without the BS.
Thank you
Big improvement! Always enjoy the videos
Thank you
Man...someone is gonna have to replace those struts eventually and will not like you. The good news is I believe that Loctite does have some anti-seize properties in that it will prevent dis-similar metals from electrolysis like aluminum gets with most any bolt. Blue is a better option than red IMO, like you did. I think that anti-seize is a better option and I would have mentioned that to the fella your doing work for. A pervious owner of a dirt bike used oxide bolts like that for pinch bolts on an aluminum triple tree (holds the forks on the motorcycles). Rust all in them from washing and mud. Very visible on the bike. I know its a dirt bike, but there is a reason the OEM bolts have a dipped coating on them to keep them look good and the rust out. The first time I pulled them out it started to mess up the aluminum the threads in the clamps. That is like a 500 dollar or better pain of a part to change. I ended up using dipped OEM bolts from KTM to replace with anti-seize compound. No issues coming loose and IMO one of the most important parts on the bike to torque correctly.
I agree 100% I warned him but thats what he wanted. No way I was using red on them.
Came across your video. Very good . I am going to install the 3inch front 2 inch rear. Same deal. How did you turn the strut once you compressed the spring?
Should turn easily when compressed
is a allignment needed after installing that spacer boss...
Awesome video - really well done and simple.
Do you think I would need to replace the upper control arms for a 2" level?
Thanks in advance!
Joe.
Thank you. I don't know as I rarely do lifts.
I did a 2 inch level on my 21 rst & did not need a uca. Still running stock 20 inch wheels... u will need an alignment
👍
Just jack up leaf springs, don’t have to remove shock, and lower axel. Don’t make a simple , simple job hard !!!
When you torque the wheel spacers why not just put the e-brake on, instead of risking damaging the wheels studs with a pry bar. That always works for me
It does in the rear. I am careful not to let it ruin the threads
Great video ! one thing i noticed is that after you put the strut back in that the shock was facing the same way as you took it out.so what 180 turn did you do?
Yes. It has to turn.
Maybe my decision based on this video kit on the way although I’m going a different direction oem replicas 26x10 on 35’s for my 23 1500 Silverado.
👍
I have a 2022 silverado. I want the same thing done . Wish u lived in Arizona
Yeah that's a ways off
Looks very very good. Good work and good explanation thanks man!
Thank you
Oooohhhh , you did a leveling kit without doing UCA’s…. Oh no!!! 😂😂 I’m just busting your chops, good stuff, I’m getting ready to do a leveling kit on my 19 elevation with 2” spacers also ! Awesome how to !
Imstall parts I was given. Just showing the process. Lol
@@TWAMotorsports you know how gm guys are, absolutely prohibited to do a leveling kit without UCAs lol 😂
I get it
@onefastlife5017 that's was I wondering chevys guys say can't put leveling on rancho strut bc already have 2 lif included.
What do u guys think ??
You are very knowledgeable!!!! So question, is it true those spacers are not recommended for the new trucks??? I have a 2021 Sierra and a local installer commented that the rough country spacer are better. They have a plate up top and something else in the bottom. He says those you are using may be bad for ball joint?
As long as they are quality ones I see no issues with one wearing ball joints more than another.
@@TWAMotorsports thanks for the response. Would it be safe to say even a 2.5 would also work without having ball joint issues???
I would think so if hub centric
@@TWAMotorsports one more question. I have the 2021 SLT Sierra 2 WD. Would you recommend just a 2 1/2 level or do both the front and back??
Generally they are an inch higher in back so depends on what you are looking for.
Definitely made an improvement!
Thank you. I thought so
Nice to see something get altitude on your channel lol.
I thought it would be a good change of pace.
Why not use the emergency brake for torque procedure on the rear spacer/wheels? Try black RTV instead of blue lock tight on the threads.
That works on the rear. He wanted locktite
@@TWAMotorsports put some on threads. It will not allow it move and be easily removed later. I used to put it on my turbo studs/header. Cleans off with brass brush.
I would have done that be he was adamant about loctite lol
@@TWAMotorsports for the front all you have to do is have someone press down on the brake pedal while you torque them.
Any update on how this worked out for your buddies dad? I was wondering how the upper control arm held up with the extra force on it.
I haven't heard any complaints
Good to know thanks for the reply.
@Wallacebjn you're welcome
Great video as always lil bit easier have someone hold the breaks to torque them spacers lol
Thank you Daniel. Thats for sure
You didnt have to compress the spring...you could of used a bar and turned that bushing to get the 180 angle. Other than that, you did 👍
I could not get it to move like ones in the past.
Great content Kool vid Travis
Thank you
I see that you left in the shim that is at the bottom of the leaf pack. was the pinion angle still in spec? i have the 2.5 inch tapered block for my lift and have received mixed answered on leaving the shim in.
No issues with it in place.
@@TWAMotorsports that is good to hear didn't want to fight driveline vibration if it wasn't suppose to be in.
I sure didn't notice any
Truck looks great. What kind of Silverado is this? I have a 2020 RST and want to level it out.
Was thinking of a 2” level but don’t want the front to look higher than the rear. Would that have been a problem if you didn’t but the rear block in?
I think you would need a 1.5 up front to be level. This is a very base 2021
Is that why you did a 1” block in the back ?
Thanks
Yes
Thanks!
You're welcome
I've got the strut off and the spacer on. I also have spring compressors on each side of the spring but can't get the strut to rotate. What's the trick, do you have a video of you rotating the strut 180 degrees?
Got it. Ended up using a vice, strap wrench, and spring compressors. Worked great!
Glad you got it figured out
You should do more lifts ....
I may in the future
did u have to get a alignment after that boss
I am thinking about doing basically same thing to 2016 escalade esv.and 285 70 r17
Its not a bad job
Nice job !
Did you need to take out the battery box on the passenger's side to remove the strut?
No I didn't
Curious about the tire size. It looks awesome.
Wish I could remember. Its not mine
What size of kit you use. You’re link has several size. And I want the exact size for my 2021 Chevy. Its exactly like that truck. Same color also. Thanks in advance.
Customer brought it. 2.5/1.0 i believe
Tried the link for the kit, and it shows fitment as 2007-2018 Silverado & Sierra 1500 2.5
It should be the same
because i did the same thing with no alignment and my out side of my tires are showing alot of wear
Love it!
Thank you
What was the total length of time to do the job?
Couple hours
Definitely do more lifts
Probably need to
I thought that stud was supposed to go from the bottom up on the spacer?
Not according to the instructions
@@TWAMotorsports i saw another video on another shop and they said that the screws go from bottom up and the you use the lock nuts from the top.
Maybe a different kit
Looks good!
Thank you
Aren't you supposed to put them stud bolts in from the back side before bolting it on?
You don't have to
Any issues after the instal with rear shock length being to short? Some kits recommend longer shocks or an extender when adding rear blocks.
He hasn't complained of any
@@TWAMotorsports thanks
You're welcome
Was that a trail boss Silverado custom? It should already be level
No. Just a base level I believe
Are you sure you put those top hat bolts in correctly?..
Per the cheap ebay instructions
What's the difference between the Strut spacer Leveling Kit and the one that u mount under the shocks is any one better than the other one
No idea. These parts were brought to me
people are talking me i need biger arm controls to fix that outside wear on my tires... is that true boss
Maybe. I have only done this one for a friends dad
so stock height trucks that arent at4 or trail boss come w no rear spring plates? springs just rest on axle?
No idea. This was really base crank window truck.
I want to see you drop a new Chevy!!
I need to
How did the sway bar link come out mine keeps spinning when I try and take it off
Has a insert on the end to insert metric hex to keep from spinning
Nice job. Well done. Looks really good.
Thank you
Anyone know if a lovely jit will solve me clearance issues after spacers
did u have to get a allinment after boss
Yes
Im leveled and was thinking about
1 1/2" spacers.......was there any rubbing issues on this ride??
No rubbing at all
@@TWAMotorsports thanks for the info!!
You're welcome
@@TWAMotorsports after leveling, I did get some larger tires than the stock, 265/70 17(?) I believe, so hopefully
1 1/2" spacers will still be OK. If not, I can do a return thru Amazon. Thanks
Bout to lift mine! Thank you!
Hopefully it helps
I very badly want to do a 3" RC kit on my '23 1500 LT, but I am pretty sure that this would void my extended warranty....:\
Only on suspension parts
@@TWAMotorsports
Oh really? I didn't know this. I always thought that it was a blanket-type void when things like lifts/level kits are installed. I've never owned a new rig with a factory warranty like this before.
I am mostly only concerned with my engine warranty, and not so much suspension related stuff. With the 2.7L 4 cylinder in my truck, I don't want that coverage to dissappear becuase I changed the suspension geometry.
Thanks for the info.
No they legally can't. Only things that could be affected by the lift
Wouldn’t void your warranty at all just when you do take it to the dealership for a suspension problem they have to prove that the lift caused the problem which in most cases they can’t prove
Correct, and they 100% will try to find a way not to cover it. Once had a friends warranty declined on window motor because of tint. Lol
Are you able to do this lift on a trail boss
Not sure
You should get one and lower it
I agree
hey do you know what tire size A/T tires that he has on the truck.
I don't. Was a friends dad's truck
Do you have to do any alignment
Not required but wouldn't hurt
I bought a 22mm for the lug nut and while it goes on well it doesn’t get all the way in tho..it grabs only about half inch or less , is that normal ?
Doesn't sound normal
@@TWAMotorsports what do you use then 22 ? I’ll try with something different
Need longer one
@@TWAMotorsports it’s a deep socket 😂🤷♂️
Not sure then
What kinda of tires were those
Stock I think. Not my truck
Good job Travis'
Thank you
What is the tire size on the truck?
Not sure. Isn't my truck
What kind of dewalt is that
20 volt. Link in video description I think
What size spacer where they ?
Link in description
Come an do my silverado just like that one lol
Sorry but no time
🤘🏽
Thank you
That was stupid I'm my opinion...the lock tight on the Allen's bolt is just out of control. Someone is either going to strip it upon removal or break a bit...smh. redictulas. If anything, I would've used the locktight on the wheel spacers 😉
I agree but did what he wanted. I also said I wouldn't take it back apart for him. Lol
Why would you go through all that work only to achieve those results? Hahahahahaha
Isn't my truck
@@TWAMotorsports That’s good news! Lol 😂
Chevrolet is way behind everyone when it comes to sporty looking trucks. Ford leads the as hard as it is for me to say that being a die hard Chevy guy.
I feel that way about the interiors too
locktite smh the owner is nuts
I know
Why would you lower a truck? lol
Looks better, easier to get in and out of, better gas mileage
@@TWAMotorsports get a car then. 😂
Everyone likes something different. If we all had the same tatse it would be a boring world.
I AM NOT A FAN OF HIGH TRUCK BODIES OVER THE TIRES. I PEFER THE LOW LOOK.
Me too.
What tires are those
No idea. Not mine
