Fossils and crops were easy dailies for bells once I completed my fossil exhibit and had my current villager photos. While I was filling out the sea creatures exhibit, though, I got into the meditative practice of diving and used that for bell generation. It is more time consuming but oh so relaxing. 😂
Normally I would just sell crops and fossils for money. But if you have the bell boom ordinance on, and also have the Pile of Cash DIY you can make a lot of bells. Just wait for the pile of cash to become a hot item at nooks. It may take a while so be sure to check it every day. The pile of cash requires 99,000 bells to craft. Now for hot items you normally get double what your materials are worth but someone saw this oversight and made the cash pile worth not as much, however it is still a profit. If you craft and sell for a few hours you can make an insane amount of bells. The first time I did it I didn't stop untill I made like 20,000,000.

My favorite way of making bells tbh are big fish and rare bugs that I'd keep collecting until the next time I see flick or CJ! Sea creatures tend to really add up too!
When I first started I would just fish and catch bugs until my inventory was full then sell them
I'm a different breed and often time travel months at a time day by day to get a good turnip spike on my main trading island. That being said, fossils are a seriously good source of bells in this game. I'll dig them up and throw them into my storage and forget about them, then go and assess them and sell them for a good chunk of change.
If it makes you feel better I have like a HORDE of Fossils in my storage.
I just do is see what hot item is the most valuable excluding food based ones if want to grind up bells.
If fossils can sell from 1K to 6K then the best way is to do the min and max number to get decent comparison
6,721 fossils x 1k is 67,210 to 403,260,000 bells for 6K

One way I make bells is collecting all the fruit on my island and selling them to Timmy and Tommy. You can get around 20,000 bells each time!
I still think the best money maker is actually blue roses. With turnips you need to be constantly checking at nooks and tracking prices or going online and seeing what others have. It's a lot of work. But a blue rose farm, easy, no upkeep, just pick, craft to double the value, sell. Every other day. Also you don't need all the flowers in one place, you can still make attractive gardens and have a few hundred throughout. With picking, crafting to double, you really can have like a million every other day with reasonable flower gardens.
My favorite way to make bells is to sell bugs to flick. Mostly because I suck at fishing.

Personally my favorite way to earn come bells is crops and fruits, having an orchard and a farm with every fruit and vegetable in game. I have a day just any day (mostly when everything has regrown) i pick all my fruit trees and grab my crops and sell them to Timmy and Tommy and i can assure you Nook inc. is in crippling debt because me. :)
Back when somewhat shortly before I stopped playing this game due to lack of things to do to motivate me, I would in this game, pretend to be playing a farming sim like Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, and cook up my crops into food items, then sell them after cooking them.
I feel this is something everyone does but I make like three fishing nets & fishing rods and basically fill my pocket with bugs and fish and basically sell them, quite easy tbh!! I’ll also sell things like rocks & shells if I’m super desperate and of course the fossils
for the bell boom ordinance, if u are buying items with an increase of 20% and selling items with an increase of 20%, is there even a change? wouldn't it just be the same as no bell boom ordinance?

You only sell and don't buy stuff while it is in place. Most things from Nook's Cranny can be crafted and by the time the ordinances are available most people have way more flowers than they actually want on their island. If you plan out a build that you know you will be ordering off the catalog for, you just change the ordinance to something else before commencing with purchases.

What does anyone do with that many bells anyways? Genuinely curious since I have no real use for them after the house upgrades and whatnot. A few million bells is all I ever need in the course of building my island.

Fossils are my way to earn money fast, followed by the sea creatures you have to dive for and the farming.
I collect mostly bugs too and only the big fish that are worth something and keep them in my storage untill Flick or CJ appear on my island. I mostly sell to Flick because his prices for bugs are insane. CJ doesn't add much to the worth of the fish and you can only sell to him before you play his game, so I only do that with the big fish that are worth selling for something more.
Otherwise I just sell what I don't need or what I collect (shells, fruits, clothes, furniture).
I barely buy turnips because it's just wasting money for me personally. I always forget to check in with Timmy and Tommy for the daily selling prices and before I know it they have rotted.
So turnips are a nope for me, I just can't commit to it. 😂

I like to sell 30 of each vegetable to make maybe 100k or so in bells, of course I have the bell boom ordinance in place, but that's usually how I make money. Turnips is if I wake up early enough
I make money by selling fruits and crops every 3 days, money tree every day, and I bulk-sell assessed fossils every now and then. Keeps me going for what I need but sometimes I have to save up

yeah i still prefer rose wreath selling. unfortunate turnips are too much of a hassle, you cant store them, you have to check in TWICE every day to maximize your chance of profit, and they also go bad no matter what you do.

I have a massive farm that gets me around 275,000 bells if watered every day, 200,000 if watered once, and 125,000 if not watered, so that’s how I make my money. I don’t have Online and the one time i tried turnips, i got decreasing twice in a row, so no turnips for me.

This game was the worst one in the series. Why? Because they were adding the old things instead of making new things which is a totally scam. They should have added new things to New Horizons. Happy Home Designer has to be in the base game because they gave us unfinished game also this dlc is just old game but they cut it in half and made it as a dlc. They were adding old things in updates the whole time when these things should have been in the base game also these updates should have added new things not old things.
