My 10 year old is learning to skate and now at 50 I want to join him. Your videos have been so helpful to me. Growing up in Florida ice skating and hockey was not a sport we had but with the popularity growing we now have rinks everywhere here. Thank you for putting so much time into helping others like myself.
You’re awesome Chris! Keep up the good work, you’re by far my favorite hockey gear/review channel. You are highly highly underrated and will always recommend you to anyone with hockey questions!
Had a set on my AS1s and didn't realize how much of a difference they made until I got new skates and switched back to regular steel. Best runners on the market.. period!
Front blade flex unleashing power is 100% pure gimmick, but if the player believes it works, it has done its job. The only thing a blade can do is offer a longer contact surface, that's why speed skaters use such long blades, not great for playing hockey.
This seemed more like a bladetech commercial than information about the various runners and how they impact skating and balance. There has definitely been a shift in tech over the last 5 years.
Great video!! Going to get some new steel soon and will get BT since Step doesn’t make Bauer steel anymore. Now onto the chocolate… your 100% correct. European chocolate is amazing!! Lived in Germany for years and Milka is out of this world. The US dominates in the candy bar (Snickers) category though. 🖐🏻🎤
I am from Switzerland and I would say that British chocolate is very good too. There is a brand which sounds like Burberry, and it was good. But I agree with you that American chocolate is not good, it is quite too much sugar so it tastes too sweet.
You might be thinking of Cadburys. It’s better than Hershey’s, but it’s too sweet for me. When it comes to the big brands, Swiss chocolate rules. Britain has some really good smaller brands, albeit at a price.
Could you please touch on how a combination of the BladeTech Runners with the Marsblade Holders would act and if they would multiply their benefits or if the would outmatch each other? By the way, you are my main source of information about the technological development in ice hockey.
Interesting discussion here.... I am using SpeedBlade black because they came with my AS3s. Not really sure if they're any better than the older Tacks blades.
It's true about chocolate in the USA. They use crappy fats and poorly processed cocoa over here :) You can find good chocolate though, but you have to go out of your way to find it.
Respect you, your channel, and your opinion! Having said that, Flare Blade is far superior in every way when compared to all other steel. In my opinion of course ;)
Great overview of the BladeTech runners. Did you try these runners out and if so, what did you think of them? Also, bc BT runners flex, did you find that they break easier than regular runners?
I’m on the ice roughly 15 hours per week and my stock as1 blades are dying. I’m looking for new ones. What would you suggest, step steel, or blade tech?
Definitely feels a little more advertorial than your typical reviews. Would love to see an actual blind side by side test of different runners to see how valid the performance claims and differences are.
Hey everybody I need your advice. Its been a while since I don’t skate on ice (+10 years) I considered myself as an basic-intermediate skater and I’m determine to go back te the ice and I would like to know what style of shape it could be better for me in order to return from 10% or less… THKS!
Ok firstly the Chocolate thing🤔 The UK definitely has the better chocolate taste as I’ve also had US chocolate and it’s not even close.Plus I lived in OZ for 10yrs and they put an additive in their chocolate to stop it melting in the heat when it’s stored in shops which really does affect the taste (and badly) Cadbury’s tastes weird out there🙈 As for these Skate Blades Chris and Gents I need some help here as I have recently purchased a pair of mint used CCM FT1 Jetspeed Skates which have had a TUUK Lightspeed edge blade quick release holder swap with no Blades (280mm Size) so what blades can I use or do I actually need to get these up and running again using Blade tech runners?
I've used step steel forever now. I was forced to try something else since the price for step in the Tuuk holders is going up when you can find it. I was questioning the BladeTech claims. But, grabbed the top end with the diamond coating...the bite on the ice is as good as step. You do feel "livelier" with them. And, I'm used to sharpening every two to three games with a touch up on burrs every skate. I've now gone 7 games and all skates in between without sharpening and only ONE small burr on one edge. It's unreal.
Two questions. 1) Does the different colors on skate have any negative impact on the blade. 2) Green seams like an impossible color for all manufacturers. Why is this?
This man knows his chocolate. The first advert was for ... chocolate! The second advert was for ... toothpaste! 🤣 Anyone who thinks they will gain from these blades might gain far more from skating lessons. Tommy in your video has good technique, not all rec players are that good.
@@xeltist The skate blade companies do durability tests on their blades, for example how long they hold an edge after various uses, etc. They could easily publish that data, but they don't unless it shows them in a good light... Additionally, for players would could easily normalize the data by counting things like ice time and number of skate sharpenings, and not count actual time. In that way we could easily get metrics. Without data the assertion is pretty meaningless tbh.
no they won't help you skate faster.....it's a marketing gimmick, the changes these make are so small you'll never see any real benefit, even at the pro level in the NHL the fastest skaters lap times haven't really changed that much since 1997, all of this hype about skates that make you faster is mostly BS. but to be clear, yes, mechanically speaking these should make you faster but in reality the changes are so small and insignificant there's no actual real benefit, if there was you'd expect that fastest skater in 1997 would be much slower than the fastest skater in 2021 with DECADES of tech advancement at play but you're talking 1/10th of a second....like it or not the only way to skate faster or shoot harder is to practice....quit buying crap you don't need and put in the work guys.
unfortunately had a steel break in half last week so I put new blade tech steel on my skates today for my game and new steel is the worst, always spend the whole game thinking about my feet and trying not to fall. the glide with the lower friction mirrored finish was nice tho.
@@wwjohnnymaydo yes and everything feels so different and uncomfortable, these skates I have now are the only pair of new skates ive ever had so I have no clue which profile id want

The only two things that can make you skate faster are the work on your skating technique and right choice of blade profile and radius of hollow!

Just picked up blade tech and the Warrior convert QRE 20. The odd thing is I can't find any reviews on the QRE 20.
why there is no option to use the quality steel as the figure skaters have ( e.g. gold seal)
when will they finally develop e-blades?

Green definitely slows the glide down. Red just like red cars obviously goes faster. Cmon man really?

Does anyone have any information about durability for these runners and are there any issues with new CCM easy swap system?
How do the DLC black steel compare to Bauer’s vertex carbon in terms of longevity?
I don't know🤷🏽♂

If only they made blades in my size 🥴 322cm is getting tough to find. How can we get these hockey product companies to stop being sizeist?
buy two sets and weld them together?
Thumbs up innit
I'd like to see some real metrics about how much longer the blades will last... "Probably twice as long" just isn't that convincing.
hard to get real accurate metrics when every player is different
