  • Part Two is here but also a weird teaser for an old live music cover song game we played on my livestreams during lockdown called "Musical Disaster Wheel".
The last time I did anything with these old clips it really upset a few people who thought this had just happened. I am not at ground zero with VCP anymore. I am working again. I am talking. A lot. And I am also endlessly thankful for the gifts I have. I still live with VCP but I am high functioning.
I started vlogging on the VCP several months after diagnosis (diagnosed in early 2018) Quite an uncertain, frustrating and disruptive time.
Part two is going to share my first glimmer of hope.
When I started these vids I was hoping to do a series of my ups and downs so that MAYBE someone going through something similar might find a soul out there who is talking about the ugly bits as well as the hopeful things. I was quite scared and felt extremely alone having my "super power" stripped away from me.
I have added in a moment from MUSICAL DISASTER WHEEL a Cocktail Hour Live Music Game that is even scarier than Book Roulette! The thrill is palpable. Maybe I will resurrect it. I have to get THE BIG BOOK in order to quickly heed the call of the whims of THE WHEEL during a live show... It has been suggested many times to get all my charts in the iPad but... That will be a BIG JOB my friends. Big. Huge. And what app to use? Oh who knows.
I am here now to finally do my VCP story which is an ongoing trip.
Please subscribe to see part two where I will talk about my experience with Onsen and Bowen massage, and how I was able to speak above a leaf blower next door street again

Hi Liz -- this was really interesting. (I need to listen to Part 1 -- not sure why I started with Part 2!). Before I retired I was an SLP and worked in a hospital and did a lot of procedures, including videostroboscopies. I didn't do a lot of voice treatments so am definitely not an expert in that. But we used a program called LMRVT -- Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy, developed by Katherine Verdolini Abbott, and some of my colleagues had patients who made a lot of improvements using that program. Don't know if you have ever heard of it or if it is widely available where you are. Voice therapy varies tremendously -- much of it is done very badly! It always seems to be better at places where that is the specialty (and there aren't too many of those!). Anyway -- my heart goes out to you. It must be so frustrating to have such a beautiful instrument -- your voice -- and then to have difficulties with it. You manage to sing very beautiful despite the issues!

I’ve not heard of LMRVT but I’m checking it out now! Thanks! I’ve been pretty lucky to have found the team that diagnosed me and has been keeping tabs on me.
In part one I talk about the first experiences in getting diagnosed. It was a rather frustrating and disheartening path. Things have been much improved since the early days.
I do well if I care for my health/fitness/nutrition and keep my voice fit. I’ve been hitting my goals with vigour and humble gratitude. 🥰

This is really interesting to me as well, Joey! (Since I've dealt with some similar issues to Liz) So cool that you were in that field... But anyway, Liz is fantastic, isn't she?! 🙂

@@ladycampion Hey LadyC -- I've often wondered about the issues you were having with your voice but I didn't know if it was appropriate to ask you about them! Since Liz was discussing hers here I felt a little more comfortable blabbing! There's a really great DVD where Katherine Verdolini Abbott discusses how LMRVT is done/the theory of it but it is written for SLPs. I'm sure Liz and you could both follow it though since you both know a lot about your vocal cords and how very temperamental they can be! It's published by Plural Publishing but is expensive ($119) and is called Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy. Katherine Abbott (Kitty she is called) is at the University of Delaware I think - she's amazing. I don't know her but went to one of her training programs. She might even be willing to do teleconference therapy but I don't know. She's probably really busy. She wanted to be a professional singer but had trouble with her voice and went in the direction of learning all about it and becoming a clinician. And yes, Liz is an amazing singer and so are you. I am totally in awe of both of you and want your vocal cords to be in top shape because you both have such a rare gift!

@@lizaday9374 Liz -- so glad things have improved. In this video there was a big difference in your voice between the before and after treatment sessions so it seems that that treatment does really help you. So glad you are hitting your goals. The vocals in the music you have posted are very beautiful. The message I wrote to LadyC below --also applies to you! Thanks for sharing your story.
