13:57 I really enjoy Skabs commentary! He always refers to the gameplay in the context of the character. Where most commentators would say something to the effect of “bowser’s upsmash covers the stall” Skabs said Bowser’s shell protects him. Felt like it I was watching the characters themselves a little more closely after that. Good stuff!
@@nathanlevesque7812 Your probably right, I only watch Scend matches. Makes sense though, Gackt has the most wacky/creative playstyle so I'm sure Scend studies the cool nonsense Gackt pulls off
He's been doing it since Smash 4 and pulled out some career-ending PKTA moves... Back in the day they just called it the "Gackt things" because no other Ness mains (I used to watch Fow and he rarely did something like that) utilize PKTA that often.
Leon has a really great Bowser and the game was super super close. It seemed like his mental kinda cracked at the end as it was slipping from him which is totally fair Gackt was getting around seemingly almost everything he did. Fantastic game by both players, great set!
This is an old tech. They changed his up b from Smash 4 onward, so when PKTA first hits a surface he'll bounce off of it, and you can either tech it or do PKTA again (during recovery).
When are we going to sadly admit Ness is top tier: -quick frame data -every move kills except down tilt/jab -kill throw at 100% -hang a charged smash attack off the ledge -Fat ass disjointed hitboxes -damage output is ridiculous -an up-b that is un-techable at like 50-60% -PK fire... -sweet spot f-smash kills hella early -annoying voice that gets in your head if he's winning -one of/if not the longest directional air dodge in the game As much as I hate this character he's definitely underrated.
A character's tier cannot be determined without evaluating the roster as a whole. It's based on matchups, not sauce. Strong characters can have a bland moveset. Weak characters can have a wild moveset. It's not a consistent relationship.
Ness is high tier in most tier lists. What stops him being top tier is his floaty double jump, and slow/exploitable up B, which makes it difficult for Ness to escape combos.
i wouldn’t say ness has a bad recovery, feel like ppl just say that bc that’s what we used to think. i think the issue is he gets counterpicked extremely easily, his losing MUs are characters that happen to be incredibly easy to pick up (cloud, gnw, palu, etc) and even if u manage to beat someone who only uses one of those characters as a counterpick what do u do vs someone who actually mains them and knows the ins and outs of the mu? he’s a good character don’t get me wrong, but lack of range and his floatiness are very big flaws
Ive watched every game so far up to this point, and Gackt by far has looked the most impressive and consistent to me. Maybe as a former nes plyer im partial, but hes been seriously smooth.
I just wanted to show some love to Tantalus on coms. I watched a lot of Pound day 2 live and I enjoyed every set this guy commentated because I felt that he does a great job describing what players want in a particular set and how they adjust between sets. It’s clear that he has a lot of game knowledge which makes these sets a lot more enjoyable from a spectator perspective because he can clearly describe a lot of the very specific decisions players are making during important interactions. In addition it just felt like he was having a lot of fun and had good chemistry with whoever he shares a commentary block with. In this community it can often feel like some common habits and trends in commentary get very annoying such as when commentators just list all of the moves that are happening on screen in a very fast and accelerated voice or when they just scream after every interaction. Because of this I feel like it’s our responsibility as viewers to point out examples of what we would like to see, so new and veteran commentators can learn what things to incorporate in their craft. Again great job tantalus and hopefully we can get him to commentate a top 8 sometime in the future.
yep. scend shouted it out a while ago, some ppl call it the dtilt blender. you get 6+ downtillts in 2-3 secs. works when characters are very close to you near ledge, and works even more with huge characters like bowser
Great commentators. Also impressive play from Leon. I’m going back and watching pound again now that I’ve watched a lot more smash and his bowser is so, so clean.

He’s been doing that for a few years now, although I don’t know who did it first.
No, that's a Gackt move. You're just more familiar with Scend.

Yo, I did not know Ness could knock himself into a tech situation.
That's a super sick mix-up.

As much as I hate this character he's definitely underrated.
Well he's not a top tier character since he struggles against most of the swordies and characters that can easily counter play him

Ness is high tier in most tier lists. What stops him being top tier is his floaty double jump, and slow/exploitable up B, which makes it difficult for Ness to escape combos.
And most of that is mitigated by having a trash recovery and a bad double jump that makes him have a horrible disadvantage. He's a high tier.

Wait. That last ledge interaction, is that a thing?
I think it's because you can't run past people in ult so Bowser was basically stuck in place
