It's just a matter of being able to enable it in multiplayer. Alternatively, mod the game so that Master Hand kills himself if his % is above 300. The problem is that Master Hand is genuine garbage and wouldn't be exciting to play as or watch since he cannot freely move and his attacks are horrily telegraphed and very punishable. Even Kirby would have a 9:1 matchup with him, if not 10:0.

I'll never forget one of the funniest things that was on Mew2King's stream once, which apparently some of these clips are from. Before it was patched out, some players where exploiting Slippi to use Giga Bowser, and M2K happened to random into one. His random character first game was getting trolled and lost, so before he starts the next game, he pauses for a moment, and then just says "I know how to beat this" and goes right to puff. Next thing you know Giga Bowser is getting wrecked by Pound -> Rest. The Giga Bowser player at one point was on last stock and wasn't trolling anymore. They actually looked scared to approach. As broken as it is in many ways, Giga Bowser exacerbates Bowser's main issue: he's too damn big and gets beat up for it. Being big in Melee sucks. Great video! This is why I love Melee. All the stories makes this game so fun to be apart of. EDIT: Pound not nair!

@@OmegaGlops Nah, I’m pretty sure it’s just garbage data being read for a character that happens to have the same flag for 2 fighters spawning at once that the Ice Climbers have (however they don’t also have the built-in delay between characters for inputs like Icies do). As for why it picks Mario, my guess is that it just defaults to him as a safeguard of some sort to not crash the game but I honestly don’t really know, lol And I believe so! I’m sure there’s AR codes floating around online that do a similar thing for other characters that would work in offline. Mario Climbers was just unique because it was loading something that was already present in the game but usually not accessible, so when you select it on unranked/direct connect, it would load in the other person’s game even if they didn’t have the codes; the code just allows you to access it, it doesn’t add anything to your game. But I think the other codes that do a similar thing add an additional fighter to whoever you picked, which obviously isn’t already a thing in the game and thus wouldn’t work on Slippi
I get why it's not wanted in competitive play, but I do wish we could see more Giga Bowser gameplay at that high level just because it would be fun, and not as serious as competitive play.
Fr. Never played smash competitively, but giga bowser doesn’t seem very broken at all. Grab immunity, damage, and massive attack range would be his only big pros. Still slow as hell, a huge hit box, and bad at recovery
When you consider the amount of time that one might have put into playing Giga Bowser versus any other character in order to place in tournaments, it's fair to assume he's on a different tier than the other characters people have sunk thousands into. It's also important to consider a huge factor for their legality is how their design blatantly goes against many of the skills valued in competitive play.
It’s cause once you get to the top of a competitive scene of anything, you tend to react super negatively to anything that could potentially change said competitive scene. Melee players in particular are especially bad with this because they’re choosing to stick to an extremely out of date version of a game simply because the competitive scene of said game evolved to revolve around exploiting a glitch to gain an advantage and said glitch has been rightly patched from all subsequent versions.
The only characters I really find annoying and unfun to play against are Jigglypuff (in everything) Samus (in ultimate if FS is enabled) and Hero. Everything else usually seems pretty tolerable. But god. Fucking Jigglypuff Pound BAir stalling is infuriating.

I wonder if a "no counterpick Giga" rule could be implemented, where you cannot pick Giga Bowser as a counter pick. Either if you lost you can elect to pick first and allow the winner to counter pick you, or you can can't pick him after losing a game. I think the latter might be better, as it prevents people from winning a set with a surprise Giga Bowser, but still allows people to open sets with him.
Bit late, but it'd be as simple as always allowing a counterpick if giga bowser is selected, likely worded as something like, "In the case that a player selects Giga Bowser, the other player will be allowed to select character again."

Tatsunoko vs Capcom tournaments sometimes legalize their giant "Giga Bowser-like" characters with highly specific rules in place. Just look at sports like baseball, which have a ton of niche rules that seem odd but are intended to address exploits and abuses that would ruin the integrity of the game. I'm sure Giga Bowser could be considered tournament legal if the anti-Giga Bowser crowd had their biggest complaints addressed with stipulations that prevented exploits, such as the one where one could pick GB on game 3 as a hard counter pick of the opponent's character for an easy win. Maybe have it so that a player can only choose to play as Giga on game one, they can stick with Giga on subsequent games so long as they picked Giga on game one, and they can also forfeit their chance to play Giga in subsequent games of the set by picking another character at the end of a match (but they won't have another chance to swap back to Giga again for the duration of the set against their current opponent).
As someone who doesn't play this game, feels like Giga Bowser should be legal but consideration to banning him as a counterpick. That way if you want to play him, you have to main him >:)

Before the days of for glory, In brawl wii internet matchmaking, 12 year old me got paired up against a gigabowser who spawned in as Bowser, immediately transformed and would get an animation to turn back into regular Bowser every 30 seconds but then immediately turn back into giga Bowser. I've tried scouring the internet for the existence of this glitch or hack and I can't find anything.
It's been proven, even in this video, that Giga isn't broken 100% of the time. He can get outplayed and out-combo'd. I agree with Genex, the counter-pick would be awesome. Having to choose for the blind if you counter-pick assuming the Giga round 1, or go normal pick. It would be amazing. And yeah, again as Genex said, imagine a finals "Best of 5" where it's 2-2 and someone counter-picks Giga. Even if they don't win, it would be AMAZING to see.
It breaks the current meta and makes characters like marth unviable. I would be fun for audiences for a while. But onces the novelty wears off it would leave everyone mad and annoyed. There is a reason why competitive players did not concent to play agains GigaBowser. Even players who main a favorsble matchup

It's just such a beautiful song I couldn't help myself. As for giga dittos, best I can do is point you to the old giga Bowser ditto clip of mew2king fighting another giga Bowser. As it stands, any giga Bowser mirrors would have to be played in the real world because Slippi just straight up crashes if giga Bowser is on anything but port 2.

It's kinda sad how Bowser is so bad of a character in Melee that the only way to make him viable is to allow people to play as the bigger boss version.
making giga legal would provide much-needed shakeups to an ancient game, and it's also really funny to watch both the character in action and purists crying about how busted he is but as a gamecube player I'm not keen on the idea of going to a tournament and having to fight a character that isn't available in my version of the game. I think its less that giga bowser is overpowered, it's more so a total lack of experience playing against players using him so players are just not really ready for it. If he was always legal, I think strategies against him would develop more and more over time.
The fact Giga Bowser lost in first tournament proves that any skilled player can beat an unskilled Giga Bowser. I'm not sure Nintendo can forsee about older games but, Giga Bowser is only unofficial such, I don't know how does it work.

Giga Bowser should be an official playable character in the next Smash Bros. He would operate similarly to how Multiversus did Iron Giant.
they could easily patch him into Ultimate. He's very close to complete, he just needs a final smash and victory animations.

I laughed everytime sentences like “giga bowser meta” or “counterpick giga bowser” were said
Before the days of for glory, In brawl wii internet matchmaking, 12 year old me got paired up against a gigabowser who spawned in as Bowser, immediately transformed and would get an animation to turn back into regular Bowser every 30 seconds but then immediately turn back into giga Bowser. I've tried scouring the internet for the existence of this glitch or hack and I can't find anything.

Man, your editing is something utterly unique. No matter what you end up making, I'd watch it for that factor alone.
It's been proven, even in this video, that Giga isn't broken 100% of the time. He can get outplayed and out-combo'd. I agree with Genex, the counter-pick would be awesome. Having to choose for the blind if you counter-pick assuming the Giga round 1, or go normal pick. It would be amazing. And yeah, again as Genex said, imagine a finals "Best of 5" where it's 2-2 and someone counter-picks Giga. Even if they don't win, it would be AMAZING to see.
It breaks the current meta and makes characters like marth unviable. I would be fun for audiences for a while. But onces the novelty wears off it would leave everyone mad and annoyed.
There is a reason why competitive players did not concent to play agains GigaBowser. Even players who main a favorsble matchup

I think there should be a large event that doesn’t mention giga bowser at all in the rules, It shouldn’t mention whether he’s banned or not. Then bring in 1 dude that plays gigabowser and tell him he’s legal. The moment pools/round 1 starts, change the rules to make him legal…. And watch the fireworks
A lot of Smashers would just cry for their money back and threat to quit the scene most likely, some may even argue taking legal action, I wouldn't doubt it.

@@t-real7088 Just be careful with rule wording so that no character is restricted so long as they can be knocked out of bounds, therefore only really banning Master/Crazy Hand. As for the other irregular characters, who cares? None of them are useful except maybe Mario Climbers.

Considering how stagnant Melee's meta is, and how _close_ a lot of the matches ended up being (to the point that Giga Bowser dropped sets and lost a tournament), I don't see why he shouldn't be legal. 🤷

As for giga dittos, best I can do is point you to the old giga Bowser ditto clip of mew2king fighting another giga Bowser. As it stands, any giga Bowser mirrors would have to be played in the real world because Slippi just straight up crashes if giga Bowser is on anything but port 2.

making giga legal would provide much-needed shakeups to an ancient game, and it's also really funny to watch both the character in action and purists crying about how busted he is
but as a gamecube player I'm not keen on the idea of going to a tournament and having to fight a character that isn't available in my version of the game. In the interest of keeping a level playing field, giga should probably stay illegal.

I think its less that giga bowser is overpowered, it's more so a total lack of experience playing against players using him so players are just not really ready for it. If he was always legal, I think strategies against him would develop more and more over time.
The fact Giga Bowser lost in first tournament proves that any skilled player can beat an unskilled Giga Bowser.
I'm not sure Nintendo can forsee about older games but, Giga Bowser is only unofficial such, I don't know how does it work.
