How poetically tragic. 3 years ago this guy 'took a knee' to protest police brutality against black men (which was in fact the first time I had ever heard of that action). 3 years later, a policeman brutally 'takes a knee' on the neck of a black man for 8 minutes 46 seconds. You can't make this stuff up.

When Colin Kaepernick was taking a Knee for National Anthem and got all this backlash, this rally broke me and any hope for the USA.
I am from Germany. I always get from Americans the question why we don’t show pride? Do we not have pride in what we have achieved? We did saw children together, injected them chemicals and made furniture from their bones. We try to learn from this. And the first lesson is, that pride is shown by action not symbols. We are always skeptical when someone is running around with a symbol to show his pride, but his actions undermine Human Dignity and the Constitution. There is a line between pride and blind nationalism.
Kaepernicks action did not undermine the constitution, it did embrace it!
May and American explain to me how his action was disrespectful, by demanding Human Dignity?

Also I thought at least you were brave, but the amount of cowardness you show in front of every shopping mall where by default young immigrant boys gather. You just lower your head and run like chicken. Of course you are very "brave" when you are taking a stand against Orthodox Christian Slavic european nations, like when you supported the bombing of Serbia in 1999 You disgust me

This was at a time when he was benched for his performance and was replaced by a very bad QB, he protested shortly AFTER that.

I think people are absolutely ignorant to disagree with his protest. One of their claims is that “he is disrespecting the military”. If anything he is honor our military by using his right that was fought for by soldiers. In America we are supposed to be treated equally, have the same rights and equally justice, and if this is not shown in America all the time then what are we standing for? We’re are standing for a lie or what America “should be” instead or “what it is”. The sad and hard truth is that racism and injustice still exist in our country. So what’s wrong with a man risking his job and using his large platform to gain attention and to protest against the injustice in our country? I absolutely cannot find the wrong in this. *hint- this is coming from a veteran’s kid.

P.Anthony Lasiloo wtf r u talking about? The flag stands for genocide??? R u kidding??? The flag litterely is written down to mean life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, your just giving it an evil meaning because ur a privlaged Native American bitch that gets his life handed to him by the government for mistakes it made 200 years ago and your looking from something to bitch about.... genocide still happens today? Do you even know what genocide is? Genocide is the mass killing of a particular race or ethnicity... you find me any evidence of the government participating in genocide in the past 150 years and I'll be beyond shocked... ever heard of black hawk down? When the US tried to stop genocide in Somalia? But apparently the US does genocide, hell we even promote it!! As someone who has join the air force and plans to be a pararescuemen, you discussed me with your uneducated ramblings... god bless the USA

What I mean in greater terms is the U.S. killing Natives and non-Natives (around the world). The flag does represent stages of genocide. Why not acknowledge the non-Native genocide? killings such as the Iraq war where Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction. No we are not privileged in any way or form. The government continues to make mistakes today. Maybe study things more instead of complaining.

He makes his money off of disrespecting the flag and those that died for it. Nobody in my family (who have fought in every war since the 1700s) fought for some rich privileged game player to disrespect it. Maybe that's what the people in your family fought for. And that's fine we all fight for different reasons. Martin Luther King never disrespected the flag. He had a plan of action to try and change the things that are wrong with this country. He tried to further unite the country he loved. He never got paid to be an activist. I'm all for taking a knee, when I pray. I'm a lot older than 50 and was raised in a bi-racial home when it was illegal in some states for blacks and whites to be married. The struggle for justice and equality has not been helped by his actions. Happy MLK Day.

@@blakehager2543 you forgot that we are also free to stand up for what we believe in. Kaepernik kneeled and did nothing to hurt anyone. Get over it. Many soldiers actually understand why he did it and don’t get offended. Maybe next time, listen to his reasoning for doing it instead of going in with a preconceived notion about it. If there a literal soldiers who don’t get offended by it, I think you can get over it. I bet you’re also the type to say, “Protest peacefully please” aren’t you?

Do any Americans know all the verses of the National Anthem. The song is pro slavery. My daughter is military, so is my family. He did not lie with what he said. A lot of police departments are still letting racist cop continue to do what they want without censoring them. The NFL is a business like all the others. He did not sign away his personal rights when he signed his contract. I see Jerry Jones took a knee with his players. I know it hurt his heart but not his pocket. People learn what the National Anthem is really about. You might take a knee too. Also pay attention to what he says and his interviews. You might learn something and stop being sheep. Following lies is how you elected Trump.

The man has more people of color working for him in the doj and in the state department. I would know I'm black and work with many doj officials.
