    the sprite of the Penitent One seems to be bigger compared to the first game. Which makes me think Blasphemous II will have larger areas and an even bigger map to explore, which is thrilling to consider. Kinda like how Team Cherry said Pharloom will be bigger than Hallownest in Silksong as opposed to the original Hollow Knight (not that I believe Silksong will ever release mind you, i've lost hope and faith in that a while a go). THIS is my most anticipated metroidvania now (along with Momodora Moonlit Farewell), screw Silksong.

      I feel you on Silksong, which had its chance and will now need to wait its turn to come out.
      I suspect Blasphemous 2 will have larger areas and a larger world. Sounds like it could be pretty robust, which is so exciting.

    Maybe there are dudes dressed up as the penitent because there is a cult related to him (or maybe to crisanta) developed after our death thanks to deogracias that has shown our sacred body to as many people as possible until his death/petrification.
    Maybe we have a wooden arm because the cvustodia of sin has become a part of the penitent and we can use the "power of guilt". (confirmed by a twitter post)
    I noticed that in the same twitter post that we use the LEFT arm to performe the wooden attack. Maybe ,gameplay speaking we will have a set of special attacks related to our new arm. Another explanation to this detail might be that the gif it's old and they used the wrong hand (the penitent one does not even have a weapon).
    last theory: the hands shown in the trailer are a right hand ;more related to humans and down to earth and a left hand more related to the divine. Maybe there are factions between divine beings? like in blasphemous 1 between the holy guardians visages.
    I noticed another important detail in the trailer: our coffint is different from the one at the end of the first game: there are 2 hands holding a skull (maybe ours?) in it maybe the 2 sides of the miracle represented by the 2 hands are fighting for having us on their side.
    also 2 other hands are holding a sphere under the skull but it is not clear from the trailer OR maybe it is a third hand that does not want to take the skull (our power) but simply supports it meaning that the 3rd hand wants to help us (this theory is very imaginative but until we have new footage it may be true). HANDS ARE IMPORTANT IN THIS GAME.
    ANOTHER thing noticed: at the start of the trailer we have a white scarf but in game the scarf is always brown-ish maybe there a reason why it is like that?
    I might be wrong but it is very fun to speculate!!!

    a small possible detail i noticed, when the penitente is jumping between the children of moonlight at 18:32 he appears to use a double jump, its hard to see it at first because he immediately grabs onto the platform, but you can see him do a small jump animation and change momentum from left to straight up if you look closely, along with some air rings forming under him, which to me looks like a double jump. these air rings look the exactly like the ones you see when he uses the new air dash, which leads me to believe this double jump could be another ability the penitente unlocks in this game, or is perhaps tied to the rapier and dagger weapon like you speculated with the air dash. im so excited to play this when it comes out. thanks for the breakdown and analysis!

    • @aric7726
      @aric7726 Год назад

      I'm wondering if it could also be that to grab onto the ring you need to use the rapier, and this clip could simply be the player activating the ability within range of the ring, then shooting up to grab it.
      I'm not hugely convinced that TGK would add a double jump, as they clearly seemed to prefer more grounded traversal methods in blas 1 - however, we have already seen the addition of an air dash so perhaps this has gone out of the window. I like the idea of the rapier having air-related abilities which are unique to it

    • @StephenStine
      @StephenStine Год назад

      @@aric7726 You can observe the Pentitente is actually wielding the Praying Blade weapon and not the Rapier when he "double jumps" with the air ring and in the next jump right afterwards there are no air rings before he grapples the cherub ring. Which leads to believe this might actually be a double jump mechanic and because pentinente seemed to fall short of the cherub ring from the wall he jumped from. If it's anything to go by from Blas 1, we might need something equipped like a rosary bead to do double jumps.

    Since we have like 5 frames of the large NPC woman holding up the collapsing room I can't be too sure. But I wonder if she might be connected to that earlier wax area. Her face is what stood out to me, as it's not symmetrical, with her left eye and eyebrow almost seeming to be sagging off her face, as if it was made of wax and starting to melt. Though you can see there's almost a solid line of darker skin compared to light skin that doesn't match the lighting, which may be some sort of half-face mask like what the Lady of the Charred Visage wore, except this one is designed to make her face look normal.
    I'd also note that her face seems weirdly... hunchbacked relative to her actual body structure. Like, her face seems to be much further out and down from where it should be relative to her shoulders, which combined with that brown-ish ring around her face resembling Deogracias' circular face mask, I wonder if she may be a case of the new Miracle blessing someone by deforming their face, leading her to create a wax mask of what she used to look like that she wears overtop of her true face.

    The background room of the Skeleton boss fight is reminding me of the Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo, for the display of the mummified monks. At 25:54 you can see the Penitent One's posture suddently shift for a moment before going back to the blocking stance (it's extremely brief). I think that after the animation where he reels back from the blow you can instantly block again, which might make it possible to parry multiple attacks in quick succesion, similar to something like Sekiro. Some other attacks (like the falling ghost's shockwave) do seem to have an automatic block after the first one, since there's no "reset" animation.

    A correction I want to make: You can deffinetly parry multiple blows consecutively in Blasphemous 1, at least you can on shockwaves and the like, though I always use the item which extends your parry window so I don't know if that remains true if you don't use it. Also you can see in the clip with the penitent one parrying the sickle wielding enemy that they do drop parry for a frame or so, I would guess they have an item that reduces parry windup or the raipier and dagger just parry fast rather than now being able to hold the block.

    • @LoreHunter
      @LoreHunter  Год назад

      Do you perhaps have a good example in B1 of where you can block multiple shockwaves? Typically you'll either have a parry where you then perform the execution, or if its a deflect often you're sliding back and it it never comes up. I have certainly not seen the situation with the sickle enemy, but perhaps its because I don't use that relic. Regarding them, you can momentarily see maybe a slight deviation in the block that I thought might be them hitting block again, but the footage is so slowed down that I wasn't sure it would be feasible to respond that fast (then again maybe with that relic you can).
      EDIT: Thanks for the response btw, I was trying to sort this out for awhile but couldn't (in my own footage) find an example.

    • @olivewooled1297
      @olivewooled1297 Год назад

      @@LoreHunter Typically if you're hit again during a slide (again, this may only function with the specific relic) you will parry a second time and enter another slide, I don't have one for shockwaves specifically, however I could parry multiple times during the boss fight with the female penitent one during her teleporting stab attack, only for the first two stabs though, and I do remember that it was uncommon, and that you would have to finagle it on certain shockwaves (if it would work at all). I have also not seen the situation with the sickle enemy, I don't really think there was an attack like that in B1; though in response to the reaction time I actually agree with you, it is far more likely they were just spamming the button.
      I will also note that my multi parry shenanigans could also be attributed to the fact that I also used the item which causes your parry to be double sided, I know for a fact that I would get ping-ponged back and forth occasionally due to that item on some bosses.

      I'm so relieved that finally these versions are coming out (confirmed by the game director). It's obvious that Sony and Microsoft are going to want to force developers on their new consoles to sell them, but it's unfair for the very many One / PS4 players, and especially for a pixel art game where the excess power is only used to nothing... especially when the game is developped for Switch too. Very excited by this sequel, Blasphemous 1 is a masterpiece.

    I think you miss the point a little bit by even mentioning the abuse of disabled people.
    This game is called "Blasphemous".
    The entire point is to take sacred things and desanctify them. Her likeness in the game is culturally relevant (as you said), but it also serves the purpose of the story, to blaspheme.
