    Another great and really useful video! Battery Park is one of the neighbourhoods we're looking at moving to for the reason that it's meant to be really family friendly xx

    Loved this Katie, thanks for sharing & I’ve saved it to my travel list 😊 I’ve done a few of these attractions several times pre kids but it’s nice to see you doing them with kids in tow.
    I’m amazed at how much your girls walked, my two are terrible so I’m not sure how far we’d get 🙄 I’ve never seen the Carousel attraction, it’s beautiful definitely remembering that one.
    Looking forward to your other videos xx

    Lovely video - it's made me want to go back to New York again! I went quite a few years ago, but it was one of my favourite holidays. We ate at a different kind of food place each night so had Chinese, Italian, went to an Irish pub and had an amazing steak at The Waldorf Astoria, where we were staying. I loved Central Park and wish we'd spent longer there. We also did Top of the Rock, Dylan's Candy Bar and Times Square. If we'd had more time we would have seen a show on Broadway. And we went shopping in places like Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Tiffany's (amazing store - most of which we couldn't afford!) Walking if you can is definitely the way to go. We found so many random little stores and buildings on our walks. I'm glad you all had a great holiday xx

    Would you consider doing a video about how you plan and research your travel please? You always find the most amazing places and I just don’t know how you do it. For example, you made a comment (might not have been in this video) about finding out about a place from Instagram.....how do you search on Instagram..... for example, just putting #newyork would bring up millions of posts?

    Absolutely loved watching this!!! Great info and so many lovely memories for you. We had a nightmare flight home, from checkin to landing 🤦‍♀️ L was so so overtired she absolutely let rip and screamed for over an hour solid...managed to bounce her off to sleep in Tula after take off (luckily there was room to stand out the way at the front as we were on a Dreamliner) and she slept for 30mins and was ok until she had to be strapped in for landing, had to pin her down 😢😢 it was terrible, but once we were off she was fine. It was only a 2.5 hr flight as well!!! That’s been her only bad one though so hopefully she’ll be ok in August on a 4.5hr one!!! Xxx

    I love New York. Battery Park is lovely. I've been to New York 3 times. Twice for work and 2 years ago with a friend. We've also seen all these sights and I've seen the WTC when it was in the middle of being built and when it was built. The third time I went I realised you don't necessarily need the Subway. We were able to walk from Central Park down to 34th Street no problem. You don't realise how close it is. xx

    Hi Katie, thanks for the video - very helpful. Wondering if you had any tips on what to carry around in the backpack (since there are plenty of water parks, etc.) but you can't carry around or your back will kill you at the end of the day.
    We have a 1.5 and a 4 yr old and going to NYC in June.

    Just loved this video. Your so brilliant at editing looks so professional. The fish ride looks amazing little Wren giggling on it no wonder you went on it twice. Your girls and Wren looked so happy they all get on so well. I would have struggled with emotions at the world trade centre. Reading all those names of all those people that died would have made me very emotional. If I went to New York I would definitely go. But definitely no mascara on. Staten Island Ferry views wow and free as well. Looked so lovely and peaceful. Did you ever get blisters or sore feet with walking so far and so much? I’m sure you will definitely be going back to visit New York with your family again you all had a ball.

      Thanks so much no I didn’t get blisters but I did make sure I wore old shoes that had been worn in. I went up the world trade centre in 2001 a few months before 9/11. It was so unbelievably high, I cannot even begin to comprehend how something so tragic happened. So so very sad x

      Katie Ellison I know it’s still hard to believe that they had two planes ram into them and then they just collapsed. It was horrific, I remember it live in TV. I git very upset when I seen that. All those poor people. Ones that did get out that were covered in the toxic ash they also died before their time with Cancer. Just utterly horrific.

    • @katie_ellison
      @katie_ellison  5 лет назад

      No as long as it is short distances you can have your little one on your lap. It's not ideal but there is no other way.

    So helpful Katie! Would you recommend the hotel you stayed especially with kids at or was it just standard hotel Xx

    • @katie_ellison
      @katie_ellison  6 лет назад

      Which one? The one in Battery Park Manhattan was fantastic mainly for it's location, the hotel itself wasn't particularly geared towards kids (although it has big rooms which is good in NY), but the location made it amazing for families. The Brooklyn hotel was great for families because of the size of the rooms, they were huge (you get bigger rooms in Brooklyn than Manhattan) x

    I was told by many people that New York isn’t a place to go if you have children. I have a three year old. I’m definitely considering taking her now.
    Is there a big difference with the crowd on weekdays versus weekends? I was thinking of going Sunday-Thursday.

    So my burning question is: How did you fit a family of 5 in one yellow taxi? Always wondered how I would do this if we took our kids to NY. Most of the taxis we got fit 3 maximum in the back, with the front bit sectioned off. The WTC museum is really well done. I’m so glad we went to visit. It was just me and Sam on that trip so luckily didn’t have to weigh up whether to take the kids or not. But it’s definitely do-able with kids, you can skip the more heavy sections. We were there for around 4 hours and even then didn’t manage to see every single thing.

      Hey lovely of course, just let me know anything you want to know. In terms of flights we got an amazing deal on flights, for 5 of us it was just over £1500 return with BA. The same flights I looked at a few weeks before we travelled had gone up to £6100. That was because it was their winter sale so definitely worth holding out. That was also in half term might be cheaper if you took them out of school. x

    All in all, how much did this vacation cost? I looked up The Conrad hotel and it was a 5 star luxury hotel .. is there cheaper hotel options in The same area :)? 🙏🏼❤️

    • @katie_ellison
      @katie_ellison  6 лет назад

      It’s 5* but you can get deals. We got a deal for booking ahead (it’s called advance purchase) and a discount for staying more than 3 nights. It also depends when you go cause prices fluctuate massively. New York is an expensive city to stay in when it comes to hotels but there’s always going to be cheaper places if you look around. 💛

    We are planning for a visit to new York soon and we have a toddler and we were wondering should we have his car seat with us or not? Can you use a taxi without using a car seat for your toddler?

    • @katie_ellison
      @katie_ellison  4 года назад

      We didn't use a car seat while we were there, we had him on our laps or in the seat with the seatbelt. It isn't ideal but we only went short distances in the taxi (and slowly as the NYC traffic is mental!) so we decided to make the judgement call not to bring one.
