Lure Making during a “TORNADO OUTBREAK”

- March 31st was another devastating day due to tornados. But lures aren’t going to make and test themselves.
In this video I’m working on a “jerkbait” kind of… it’s like a jerkbait but built more like a Crankbait with a 45 degree lip. It gives the lure a nice swimming action while keeping the profile of a minnow.
Unfortunately I used a cheap white paint for my base coat and all the airbrush paint just rubbed right off. So I decided to just roll with it and give it a distressed look. Which I think is fitting with the tornado outbreak that happened this day.
We got pretty close to the tornado that tore through Wynne, AR. They gave it an official rating of EF3. Didn’t get the best look at it because dust was getting sucked up off the fields with the inflow of the storm. Still a pretty wild experience though and a very windy one.

A fitting lure for the conditions at hand. Looks like it really weathered the storm! It performed beautifully though.

I hate painting mishaps! I recently had a horrible clear coat incident on a huge replica Rapala I am making and I just stare at it in my shop every time I go down there. Nice job overcoming the issue! As far as the nado goes... You're a crazy SOB for chasing that! LOL. I stay in the basement, close to the beer fridge, because dangit, I ain't going down without a buzz! 😂
😂 lol I like the way you think. Yeah we didn’t get too close like the storm chasers do but it was still pretty exciting. Makes me feel bad for saying that cus people did lose their life from that storm unfortunately.

That weather front spawned a couple small tornadoes here in MD too. I understand what you're saying about feeling bad about the storms, but I'm a severe weather junkie myself.
Sorry your paint screwed up, but you adapted and overcame. I did like the colors on the first attempt though. And the action looked great!
Yep we got another round moving in late tonight too. And I’m still going to do that color scheme on my next video probably to redeem myself lol
As soon as you put on the tape I said "if I did that I'd rip the paint off"..turned out nice though.
I’ve done it plenty and it turned out fine but none of my airbrush paint would stick to that crappy white acrylic.
I did NOT see that coming... I've had to repaint a bait or two because me or the airbrush messed up. Time for a different brand of paint! Super work on the rest of the lure. I'm sure the bass would take that sexy action over pretty paint any day.
