    Thank you for your overview of the Dwarf 3. I ordered my Dwarf 2 way back in 2022 and have been overall impressed with what it does for such a small aperture. I will definitely get the Dwarf 3 when it is available, but in the meantime I will enjoy using the Dwarf 2. Things like getting a good image of Makarian's Chain with the weather here in the UK is difficult, but it says a lot about the Dwarf 2 that you are able to do so.

    Thanks so much very informative! I'm going to question your FOV calculation. If the pixels are smaller at 2.75"/pix, but the number of pixels is the same, I think the FOV is a little bit smaller now vs. D2, not a little bigger. Still close to 3 degrees. Excited about so many of the improvements!

    I have both S50 and D2. D2 was my first Smart scope. I like D2 for it wide field. S50 for it small FOV when I want close up image and better resolution than D2. Now with D3 coming and it seem like it in between these two. I will upgrade to D3 when I need a wider field for DSO object and hopefully a much much better image resolution either better or on par with S50.

    Thanks for the detailed comparison - really valuable! Can you say any more about the imaging possibilities with the wide angle lens, in particular, the exposure settings. The combination of wide angle imaging and video, with longer exposures and in EQ mode makes this potentially two imaging platforms in one! I think that is compelling.

    1) without the filter holder, how we could use a bathinov mask for precise focusing?
    2) will it be impossibile to use external filters at all? I don't thik the quality of the internal ones could compare with brands like Optolong, Baader and others.
    Cannot wait for the price 🙂

    • @GalaxyArtMedia

      Your welcome, using a bahtinov mask do not require filters just to be able to place it in front of a lens and telescope, The internal filter can be at very good quality as baader or optolong or even produced by them. • @alandyer910
    @alandyer910 6 месяцев назад +1

    Thanks for the overview comparison. I think one of the major changes will be the ability to use the wide lens for imaging and recording not just for finding. People have been asking for that (“I want to shoot the Milky Way with it!”) though I’d be surprised if the image quality for astronomy will be any good. The Dwarf II’s finder uses a sensor they never revealed the identity of, as it was just a cheap one good for its purpose of live views. But not made for imaging. Will the Dwarf III be better? We shall see!

    I have a 512GB card in my Dwarf II and it's full. I have been using it to record time-lapses of eclipses (~3 hours in length) and solar activity as well as astrophotography. I used a 20,000ah external power bank to run it for 3+ hours to capture solar activity. Somehow I don't think the Dwarf III is capable of recording 4k video or images at 30FPS for 3 hours straight with only 128GB of available storage. Storage is cheap. I will probably wait for them to come out with a version with more memory or with an SD card slot before I upgrade.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia

      I belive the 64 giga might be enough for a 3 hours of 4k i do not see why 128 would not be then. Please check the 3 hours 4k rocording and message me back to see how large it is i am curious. I do not see any problems on doing 3 hours recordings or larger with the dwarf3 at the moment, larger space is nice to have but i think 128 is douable if you download the data more often

      sensor makes 10 times the difference everything else remainign the same, having also larger focal length and aperture is a plus, but with more aperture would have been even better

    HEY DWARF LAB !! You better give all the did your RESEARCH with the 2 a BIG discount on the 3. The 2 only got 1 MAJOR update and it was scraped?? so bummed to see a 3 so fast after the 2. Call it something else like a pro or a GIANT.

    Its just too early to trash my D2, not even a year old….bugger. Looks like Dwarflab is in a hurry and their main focus is on the D3. Waiting for a decent roadmap concerning the D2, no maybe’s……

      @@GalaxyArtMedia dwarf2 is not in my opinion a full telescope. Like mobile phones are not a full telescope.
      Both can take pictures.
      Its hard to find accessories to dwarf2.
