Seems like Yoyoka descended into your home to help you reawaken. She was where she was because she was meant to be there.

So many lovely people involved in that meeting - it's really heart-warming, not only for you (obviously!) but for us the viewers and music lovers. I remember some people sadly saying "never meet your heroes" ... well, it depends on the heroes I think because the Soma family certainly didn't disapoint!
..speaking of meeting heroes, and the hero who brought the Soma family to Wave's neck-of-the-woods: Prince is one hero I'm kinda glad Yoyoka *didn't* get to meet. Yoyoka is a natural collaborator, and while Prince worked with lots of different musicians, he was no collaborator, sadly..
Wave, your story is simply incredible. I have been a Yoyoka fan - no, a fanatic -- since the first Good Times Bad Times video. I watch all of her videos over and over and every reaction I can find. You have been very steady with following her videos and your reactions are always not only entertaining, but instructive as well. I am a 70 year old ex-guitarist (I still play a bit) and I think because Yoyoka is the same age as my granddaughter, it made me realize how special she was to have that kind of talent at her age. Add the fact that I love Japanese culture and have been to Japan, Yoyoka has been truly a gift in my life. I am so happy for you that you had this once in a lifetime, amazing opportunity. Congratulations !

Absolutely unreal dude! I would have been in constant fear of them blowing everything off at any second. Like how can a mere mortal live up to their standards? Then again I just read an article about how we are so focused on our flaws, we tend to disregard our own abilities and achievents.
You surely must have been the most humble and polite american they had met so far and I guess that floats well with people living in Japan

Also, just hearing about your interaction with Yoyoka and her wonderful family brought joy to my heart.

But right from the first time I came across you and your intro where you said about your no longer gigging but just doing one man covers and reactions I could see how you loved to react (it was first contact with bandmaid) but I could also see, just from the tone of your voice, that you were not at all cool about not playing for real anymore.
I'm also sure you had your reasons but I teared up when you got to that bit.

The more I watch and learn about this event, the more impressed, and if I'm being honest, envious I am.
Seriously though, I cannot think of a more deserving "Reactor" to receive this honor and recognition from such a phenomenal performer.
Yoyoka and her family recognized your honest assessment and respect from half a world away. Mutual respect and admiration, being acknowledged from the other side of the planet . . . Is there even a word to describe everything that means?
I trying, but I'm not able to think of another US based reactor that has been recognized in such a way.
I've tried to express this before; It isn't just the way you react to a performance. There is something special and personal in how you genuinely convey how that performance made you feel. It is easily percieved and relatable by your viewers. Then you take it even further and educate us as to WHY some particular part of a performance is so important or the level of skill required to have pulled it off. I pride myself on generally being able to notice details, however I'm regularly humbled watching you. I feel as though you're improving my ability to appreciate both the nuances of the music itself and of the musicians ability and technique.
I'm always looking forward to what you're going to do next.
By the way, kudos to Rosie. I somehow get the impression that she contributes to the running of your channel considerably more than is seen by us on this side of the fence. I'm glad she has been making more appearances. It just feels good watching the both of you together.

As inspired, and inspiring, as ever, Wave - never mind your flat spots - we all have those!
I was shocked when I saw Rie reveal on IG that they're hoping to move to USA - I thought "shit, that's jumping in the deep end..?!?"
But with friendship like yours, Wave, I'm kinda reassured that they'll be ok..
Beyond the fact that the whole experience is so cool, what if anything did she think about that sweet Band-Maid picture behind you?
Also, as reactors go, you tend to highlight the positives about whichever artist you watch in a genuine way. In a negative world, that's a kind and precious gift. It's no surprise her family picked up on that. I hope it leads to your getting to meet many more cool artists.

Yoyoka was right, your YYZ performance was amazing, your cover was very tight, whereas Yoyokas was very technically out of sight, your cover had the motif, the feel that comes from experience. I thought it was very tight and its interesting that Yoyoka did too, a high compliment. Rock on dude!

typically I really don't like reactors, but man you have to know something, The soma's are a level above commercial music and production, they have a deep connection to people and family, I know they sensed your genuine ad thoughtful personality, and that's why they chose you, you're not a prima donna or self proclaimed expert, and your talents are far greater than you admit, you did a great job playing with Yoyoka. They know more about you than you knew about yourself and you were selected from the heart.

You had to be more nervous than most anytime in your life, but I didn't notice it. You stepped up and gave it your all. I know you had to tear up at some point. I think I understand why you were contacted.
You never had any ulterior motives. You kept your distance and respected Yoyoka and her family. You never asked for anything and you were just thankful that her playing motivated you to get serious about your playing again.
Think about all the people that think they can just hitch their horse to the Yoyoka wagon. Think about how protective a father is of their daughter. Now think about how people are on the internet.
You quarter pounder, were a breath of fresh air. Your sincerity is why they contacted you. Because you know Yoyoka wants to play with everyone and try to pick up any little tidbit she can use to improve her own skills.
That may sound ridiculous, but remember what Bruce Lee taught us. "I am not a master of the martial arts. I am a student master. You can call me a master when I am gone and buried, because then I will stop learning." Yoyoka is a pure musician and she will never stop learning.
