one of the filthiest oh yes but also so versatile ! i have one even if i'm mostly a blues and fusion-jazz guy, it works so good !!!
i also have the 2x12 with the g12 neo creambacks but i changed the speakers they were to floppy in the low end to my taste, so i ended up with greenbacks G12H55 and now its just amazing !
if you want to check, i recorded it on a jazz rock song with a torpedo live (greenback G12H55) :
ruclips.net/video/m67GQqV0Wag/видео.html
guitar starts at 2:25 min and 4:50 min ;)
AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK ! i really enjoy watching your content !
I've got a Crush 20 and it's such a gain heavy practice amp and it's got good cleans and distortion
Hey man, is it class A/B or were you like me going “I love my TAE but god I miss playing loud?” 🤣🤘
Awesome as always! BTW, @ 3:29 is that Saxon's cover of Ride like the Wind I hear?
My favorite amp I have ever purchased. I love mine.
Welcome to CSGuitars, the science of spending all of your money.
That's the main activity of musicians
@@ScienceofLoud We'd all have significantly more money if not for GAS
Look on the bright side of buying the Rockerverb: The weight of the amp will compensate for the lighter weight of your wallet
True, and a few squats while holding it will save on a gym membership
@@ScienceofLoud SQUAT!
@@CastToVoid THE RUSSIANS ARE BACK AGAIN
If you hadn't told me all of the sounds you got were from a SINGLE CHANNEL and I was only listening to the audio, I would have guessed you had at least 2 or 3 different amps. That is an insane amplifier. May need to start saving my pennies.
Also, that Crush Mini into an expansion cabinet is actually really impressive for the size. I could see it being used as an accent sound for layering guitar sounds.
The range on the distortion channel is crazy, if you want to get real nasty and doomy with it you can push it into hairy fuzz territory too.
The little Crush amps are some of the best solid states around, they just need a big enough cabinet to shine.
@@ScienceofLoud I'm amazed with it took this long for manufacturers to realize that a speaker out jack to a bigger cab could make their little practice amps sound less like a dinky toy and more like something you'd actually want to use for lower volume practice. Even more shocking is that it wasn't Boss with their Katana Mini.
The Dark terror has a similiar gain structure to the rockerverb so maybe you should give that a shot.
Came for the sweet, sweet Orange tones. Stayed for Colin calling the casuals "roasters".
Two years later, same. Orange distortion is just so goddamn nice.
holy shit that sounded good ! Never truly believed orange amps were suited for the heavier Metals, but nope, I was wrong.
Personally I didn’t like how my 808 variant played with my Rockerverb MkIII, but when I added my Laney TI Boost, HOOOOOO BABY that shit was nasty!
I'm still massively impressed by my TI Boost. Best purchase I've made, even outdoes my Polara when it comes to favourite pedals.
@@WastedLimbs I thought I could replace it with different pedals from other brands and it turns out that nothing I own quite does what the TI Boost does.
treble boosters > screamers 9 times outta 10 tbh
I’ve tried boosting it with a Boss SD-1 on my Boss GT-1000, and while I do enjoy the kind of muddy yet monstrous tone you get from the tube screamer, the SD-1 takes it to brand new territory.
Tubescreamer-type ODs never work with Orange amps in my opinion. It's mids on top of mids. I totally agree about the Treble-booster, and a humble Boss BD-2 works well with Oranges too.
Your cover of Bark at the Moon is on point!
6:03 This riff sounds so AWESOME!!!!
Glad you spoke about it’s versatility and not just classifying it as a stoner rock amp
I just love this amp! They sound soooo good in a mix without having to do much to the tracks at all. It's incredibly versatile as well.
I’ve just got into his videos and I really like them. Keep doing what you’re doing man.
I really appreciate this channel. Definitely one of the better guitar related channel on YT. Keep up the good work, and keep the disclosures up, a lot of other channels aren't quite as open about sponsors.
Firstly, this is easily my favorite gear channel now. I'm always learning something here, it's always entertaining and there's always killer riffs 🤘
I've been ping-ponging between amp choices for awhile but I'm going to pull the trigger on a Rockerverb 50 this week and a lot of my choice is due to this video.
Thanks! 🤘
You had me sold when you played Bark at the moon. I’m getting one of these amps. Soon.
i’m totally in lust with that sweet tone of your flying V. got to get me one!
Have the Mk1 for years and love it. Sounds awesome and it's a free fitness session every week when I take it to and from the studio.
Dude you CRUSHED Bark at the Moon! Well done!!
Woah!! 😮 that mini Orange at the end sounded fantastic through the larger cab!
It has made up my mind. I used to not like the orange sound at all. Now I’m all for it. It’s got a lot of character
I was a little taken aback by my Rocker 15 combo when I bought it, it was small, not too heavy and plenty loud enough to keep up with larger amps, the darker and slightly looser response took some time to get used to but now I've grown to really appreciate the "Orange Sound" cuts through live like nobody's business.
Got a nice little orange collection, including the crush mini, micro crush (completely different animal) and micro terror, that Rocker definitely made me realize which brand I needed.
Sounded pretty amazing! I appreciate you play drop C riffs a lot on your demos because that’s what I primarily play lol
Always been a fan of the Rockerverb, good demo as always, hopefully one day I'll get chance to try one of these bad boys out
man you know lots, makes me feel good to be a fan and learn
Awesome. I really wanted a Rockerverb, but didn’t wanna drop 2 grand. So I bought a Jim Root terror 🤘
Gotta admit, that clean did sound good! And that mini amp even sounded great as well!
I really like the orange amps’ sound! Especially the MD/Dark Terror/Dual Dark series.
Excellent video mate as always
Really nice video editing quality! Cool products, I just got a Crush 12 and I love it to bits :)
I really want to take a look at the Crush amps, but at the time I was requesting these amps Orange were completely sold out on them. They've been really popular over lockdown.
yea I could say the Crush 12 really has the sound that much more expensive oranges have but god damn I really couldn't make use of that OD
@@admiralrng6506 it does sound good in the headphones but then I am not a great player so I am happy a bit with anything :P
Bought one of these 2 months ago and its a great amp. The gain on its own is really nice. I stuck a fortin 33 in front of it and it went from a dark and unruly sounding monster to something down right nasty!. Its one of the best amps I own.
Great stuff as always. Thank you for sharing. Cheers
Impressive sound of this little one at the end. Great
Clean channel? WTF is a clean channel? I have never heard of this, but I already know I don't like it.
ITS A TRAP!!
It's good for Grandpa's Guitars (acoustics)
And reverb? How much is the switch? Haha!
Lifting with the legs. Good form. That amp sounds amazing.
Love the Orange sound!
I'm EAGERLY awaiting the AD30 review. It's my favourite amp. I've had both the head and combo. I prefer the head and Orange 2x12 closed back. I'm interested in hearing your opinions and maybe learning some new tricks.
Got a great deal on a Rockerverb 100 MKIII 4 years ago after having wanted one for years. Haven't regretted that purchase once. Like Colin said 50 W is MORE than what you need, so being heard isn't exactly the main concern with these amps. I get that their not everyones cup of tea, but i love my Rockerverb. I usually have my Protone Pedals Dead Horse Overdrive or a Tube Screamer in front of the amp to tighten it up a bit. It's always fun to turn on this amp. Always.
That's some juicy tone there brother.
Never considered an Orange before. I think its time to check it out.
Check out the Rocker 15 - it's a beaut.
@@matthogan-jones117 I think it's time indeed. It will sound incredible through my Boogie 4x12
I bought a black one few months ago. Threw a Ibanez TS9 in front of it and Fortin Zuul noise gate and I've never been happier. The versatility of this amp is in a league of it's own.
Lovely video and playing! Maybe I need this beast
Best demo of this amp, hands down. Wow I want one but am way too poor, great video!
Love this head - TNS is using two of these thru 4x12 and it's killer live. These lil guys are very thick and full sounding.
Bless CSGuitars you fukkin angel, here I am scraping the internet looking for a new amp head because i blew out my Joyo meteor yesterday rip and you provide this gem
Love the Laphroaig on the amp there
I love my Orange amps. A trick I've found to clearing up the sound just a little bit is to us an EQ pedal to make your input slightly bright, brighter than you might normally. Another way to achieve this is to use gold foils or filtertrons (or another "jangly" pickup) instead of your standard humbuckers, p90s, or single coils.
This amp can do a lot. I really enjoy it for lead work. It feels so good too.
I tried this in a store and I absolutely loved it and I had the suspicion that this amp would sound even better with a boost chucked in front and my god I was right.
Might have to save for one of these and a Two Notes instead of the Kemper I was thinking of
Do it. You won’t. No balls.
Really good amp, in my opinion so versatile
Love the Rockerverbs. My go to amp!
Happy halloween you lucky werewolf. I really like the rockerverb 50. always has been one of my 2 favorite amps. Those are more of a big deal in the states too. i think even madonna used those rockerverbs to play pantera riffs. Jokes aside, she would have the best for her stage production, whatever it was. she has a nice acoustic too.
Anyway, I was checking out the schematic of the preamp once upon a time. busy preamp section....... fwiw, i had a thought to build a killer pre, then make several power amp modules. kt's, el's different wattages, but one godly preamp, oh well, it was a fun thought.... i have an 18w and 50w hammond organ amp pair. hammond iron is supposed to be some of the best, so i hung on to them for a future project.. you see why i was scamming on the rockerverb's pre heh edit: i'm talking about the old hammond parts , but new other hammond company xformers are good too.
I got the 100 watt one for €800 second hand its absolutely fantastic
I love watching guitar equipment i cant afford😆
I would love to turn notifications on for your channel Colin, but due to some RUclips rules I cant. Well, back we go to stalking your channel every other day and hoping the algorithm helps me out here and there^^ Keep up your work, truly one of the best in the business!
If you use Discord then we have a bot that notifies you when a video is released. RUclips is garbage for its notifications, but Discord is working really well for keeping the community in the loop.
@@ScienceofLoud done that, cheers mate!
Honestly my dream rig of amps is a Peavey 6505 and an orange rockerverb. I love the death and thrash sounds I get from the 6505 and I like the rock and hard rock I get from orange amps such as the rockerverb.
Goooood goooood...let the Rockerverb flow through you.... 😈
Still rocking my mk 1 and yes, the mk 3 is just BEAUTIFUL 👍
Great sounding amp hands down
Helix just added a model of this bad boy and I am in heaven
HAIRY
I liked this vid, thank you^^
Talking about back breakers, try shifting a Blackstar HT Stage 100. At almost 62 years old, the fucker almost kills me. lol. Nice rendition of Jorn's cover of "Ride Like the Wind" :)
Lmao love the sincerity at the intro
I have a Rockerverb 100 MKIII and it's been rock solid and out of all of my amps is my staple and go-to.
Have you played a mesa mark v 35 ?? I'm considering getting the rockerverb mk3 50 watt for a change ? Just hard to pull the trigger
@@CBGypsy03 I haven't. I used to have a Mesa Boogie Stiletto and a Triple Rec. There's just something about the Rockerverb midrange that I just love.
@@thenerdlabofficial Ok awesome, thanks for the reply. I think I will buy the head and play it threw the recto 2x12 cab with v30s first.. then maybe get the 2x12 cab from orange if it's a keeper. They sure sound sweet on you tube.
Those who have this amp, try boosting the front with a compressor pedal, it sounds amazing (I recommend a compressor with a blend control full on)
I have a rockerverb 50 mkiii. Of course I love the dirty channel but the sound im getting out of the clean is out of this world. This is how i do it: I run the channel volume around 8-9 oclock and use the attenuation to control volume, I run the bass setting around 10, and the treble around 2, run a Revv G3 with a scooped eq setting with the gain around 9-10 and a mxr 10 band eq to very slightly cut the mids some more and to boost over all signal. It this really punchy tone that is also round and crackles in all the right ways. Axe is a Ibanez Pia but it also sounds dope through a PRS or my Baum Wingman.
I’m gonna buy one and run my Metal Zone in the clean channel 😎🤪
@8:49 we were all like OH YEAH, THAT'S ALSO WHY WE FREAKING LOVE ORANGE!!!!
Mine comes in 2 day !!! Ill try it threw a mesa cab with v30s first then maybe get the matching orange cab
I've wanted an Orange Rockerverb 50 for years but life keeps getting in the way. And wife... Wife and life. Instead I have a Line 6 Spider IV with a partially blown speaker I got at a yard sale.
I laughed and I cried 😂
i run the exact same rig with a ppc212v. it amazes me every time i play haha
A light neodymium speaker cab but one of the heaviest heads out there. Wow
Good video straight to the point no B's thanks
Oh boy that V in combination with the Orange is a match made in hell. Love it!!
4:30 who else expected for 'Nothing Else Matters' solo?
the riff at 06:00 surely made zacky v proud
The steed behind the Opus Eponymous tone.
4:31 - there it is... the Laphroaig single malt! :D
I love the Laphroig 10 but I had Lagavulin 16 for the first time last night. Heavenly.
Oh boy we can expect another video?!?
BUT DOES IT MT2....LOL JK love the tone of this amp and with the MAXON sounded great
Love the Crush Pro 120.... $400 for a dual channel head that you’d swear has tubes in it!
Aiming for a rocker 15 at the moment as my bedroom dream amp
I'm so spoiled by the previous episodes that I expected a preamp circuit breakdown
She will be mine !! Oh yesssss
The amp sounds fantastic. Dumb question... Are you using that Boss tube expander? I figured the point of the amp's built in attenuator would obviate the need for something like the Boss. Thx. Great vid!!
It's a video production convenience. It has a number of features that allow me fine control over recording in my environment.
Ah had this before. I really prefer it with tele then anything tbh.
One of the benefits of playing an Ampeg V4 for the last few years is my Rockerverb 100 MKiii seems light by comparison.
But does it have all the gain with a metal zone and maximum minimum mids
Am I the only one who hasn't found Orange Amplifiers particularly good sounding?
I know that a lot of people use them, but they're never who I think of when I think of good tone. Perhaps, I'm simply ear trained to value sounds that are more similar to the standard Marshal stack, but I haven't been able to get the power of the Marshal from an orange, nor the warmth of a fender amp from one. I don't have this issue with Crate or Vox amps, It's only orange. And I assume it's me. I can't be the only right one in a sea of wrong people. But even when used by absolute pros, I just still don't like the tone they produce. . I just... I want to no longer be wrong about the amps, but I can't bring myself to enjoy their tone.
I completely agree with you. Idk what it is about them but in person they never quite sound as good to my ear. I always found them muddy and way to fuzzy.
@@nathanielcava4128 That's why we like them :D
I respect them and anyone who uses them, but I feel the same way. I bought an Orange 2x12 cabinet with the intent of getting an Orange head. Tried a few, didn’t bond with any of them. Ended up getting a Marshall 1959 with a master volume. Currently selling my Orange 2x12 to get a different 2x12.
@@nathanielcava4128 I like them for doom and stoner rock, but outside of that I don’t care for them much.
Taste is subjective. That's why all sorts of different shit exists. It's awesome when someone doesn't like what others do. Sometimes those people make something different that's also pretty rad.
My rhythm guy had a rv mkii and it was brutal to carry and play lead over. Smooth and fat.
Do you think you could check out a Marshall silver jubilee sometime? Their pretty good for metal with a boost out front.
Ngl, I would love to see one of these videos done with a blackstar amp
Just discovered your channel. I love it and I've subscribed.
If I may humbly make a suggestion, make much less use of pedals when reviewing equipment other than pedals. Thank you for all of the very informative videos.
No, because then all the people who want to see how amps react to pedals complain.
I strike a balance and feel it is far more important to showcase equipment in the context in which it will actually be used.
That means showing amps in the context of delays and boosts.
Nice! I want!
It’s a crime you didn’t play any Sleep! Hopefully for the AD30 vid
Man I've got a soft spot for Orange amps. Favourite being a highly modified Dark Terror I sometimes use as a test mule for random shit wanna do, hence the highly modified.
I really like the Dark Terror. It's a super simple amp, but sounds immensely good.
@@ScienceofLoud Yea mine ain't so simple anymore haha. It's really pretty great, though. It's small enough to just carry around the house and put somewhere new or throw it in the gigbag thing it's got and take it somewhere, to a practice space or whatever. Certainly a lot easier than lugging a full sized head around. Tiny amp, huge sound :D
@@nicwilson89 what mods do you have in your DT?
I wish Orange would bring back the simpler OR100. I don’t need a reverb or the attenuation knob. The OR100 had a very special overdrive tone to it. A little looser than a RV. Sadly the OR50, OR100, and Thunderverbs got discontinued and people are price gouging the market (in the USA only; everywhere else is pricing it fairly). I’ve thought about spending half the price on a UK seller, hope I don’t pay too much in taxes or import fees and pull the 220v for the 120v and let a technician check everything over. I would still save about $500 versus US pricing.
Someones been workin on thier chops this year
Love the mids in Orange amps. They guarantee you'll be haired. \m/
In the 60s and 70s, Orange amplification was Marshall's biggest comletition. I mean, Black Sabbath were endorsed by Orange. At the time they were THE heavy band. I was extemely happy when they were re- introduced, although the "Green" series was a nice diversion, no matter what color they come in, Orange is still an Orange...
I really liked the gain tone of Rockerverb MK I, but not so much the MI II. Never heard MK III in person.
I know you are an orange fan, and the mini is a solid state, but Does the mini have all the sound and grit as it’s tube cousins? Honestly? Hey, maybe a video shoot out between say a rocker 15 and a crush 20 combo shoot out?
What’s your thoughts on the CR120? I love Orange, don’t have the money for a Rockerverb, but still want a full size head.
I have never tried the CR in real life before, but what I have heard, and based on other reviews, it appears to be excellent and one of the best solid state amplifiers. Btw I have the Rockerverb, and it is extremely versatile. Plus it has built in reverb.
