The 80s were sure an amazing time for teen adventure movies, and while there still have been some really good ones over the years since, it was just a different kind of special magic in the 80's.

  • @The_Dudester

    Some random thoughts:
    1) This was lightning in a bottle. The actors were perfectly cast-they had incredible chemistry. It was as if an actual family unit made a movie together.
    2) I could actually see Thor as a tow truck driver. Back before the creation of the MCU, super heroes had meek alter egos. Thor's was as a crippled doctor. Being a tow truck driver, Thor could go save the earth and be back before the end of shift to punch out.
    3) The centerfold-during the movie we saw enough of the centerfold that either Elizabeth or a doppelganger posed nude for a photographer. That magazine was but a prop, but imagine it's value at auction.
    4) Elizabeth showed some chops as a singer, too bad she wasn't allowed an opportunity to follow up. For decades a musical was considered a no go in Hollyweird. It would have been mesmerizing to see Elizabeth as a lounge singer.

    • @TheRealNormanBates

    • @The_Dudester
      @The_Dudester 4 года назад +4

      @@iamthatguyfromslipknot1137 Where to begin?
      1) I read a biography of legendary movie director Cecil B. DeMille. He basically created Hollywood. In 1921 the first studio was a barn off a dirt road we now know as Hollywood Boulevard. Cecil also created the casting couch. "Want a part in a movie honey? Have a seat on my couch."
      2) Even in the days of John Wayne at the height of his superstardom there was a problem with liberals ruling the roost. So, Wayne created his own production company and made his own movies in the 1960's and 70's. Wayne was also a womanizer. He didn't use a casting couch, but he did bed a number of his co-stars.
      3) Because A listers and their sycophants live in a bubble where almost everyone is gay, they think the majority of the US is gay, so we get gay in every TV series and they try to shoe horn it into movies.
      4) I created an axiom in the early 90's that spoon fed crap long enough, people will develop a taste for it. When The Last Jedi not only deviated from canon, it went way way way off track, some people thought it was okay-but that's because they've been watching TV series where Snow White makes an alliance with The Evil Queen because they both dislike Cinderella. Deep sigh and roll of the eyes.
      And so it goes.

@@The_Dudester yes mate and it's also really refreshing to have a chat with someone that really knows their stuff and also isn't afraid to speak out to,,I hate liberals and the whole gay thing as it totally ruined the True blood series for me as I loved the books and read them all and was really interested in how they were going to achieve some of the things from the books but then they just deviated so far from the books putting all that gay theme in there,, needless to say I stopped watching once they did that,,the first couple of series was ok then it just turned really gay and no good...hey if people want to be gay it's their life but I really hate how it is so pushed apon us these days and like you say it's more or less in every new series and pushed into movies as much as possible to,your right though people have become so used to watching crap they just accepted it now as good TV..keep spreading truth my friend because people are so blind these days there's not many of us that really see the real world any more..

Bradley Whitford was also one of the main antagonists in 2017's Get Out, and he's got quite the career on TV, with his most famous role being Josh Lyman on The West Wing and his most recent in the NBC comedy Perfect Harmony, a show that's on the bubble.

That was when you didn't have hardly any super hero movies around. And like Minty said only true comic book nerds would know about the characters. The only good films you had in those days was the Superman films and my all time favorite Tim Burtons 1989 Batman film. Which has the best actors for the roles of Batman and The Joker. Nothing against Heath Ledgers performance and all the other actors to play the parts of Joker and Batman. But Nicholson and Keaton are the best.

Lived in London, UK all my life and I only remember it as 'Adventures in Babysitting'. Loved this film.

I'm kind of surprised that more people haven't pointed out that the Japanese poster features the slanted glass building that Sarah actually climbs at the end of the movie. So while the weird hook man is bizarre and off the building is actually more accurate to the movie than the other posters.
