This was a really good review. I just got a pair of canvas Campos, and your description of them feeling hard underfoot, like skate shoes, is totally spot on. That was a big surprise to me, not what I expected at all. They're so hard, they make a clacking sound against the pavement, almost like they're plastic. I'm relieved to hear yours softened up a bit after a couple weeks, hope these do, too, because at the moment I would say these are quite uncomfortable. I'm used to a cushiony shoe, though, so maybe people who aren't wouldn't notice anything off about these. Personality, I feel like I'm wearing men's dress shoes around.
Glad the review helped, but unfortunately while the initial hard skate sole feel faded for me, they did not feel more cushioned over time. The insoles are removable, so you could try more cushioned insoles. But if you aren't happy & don't find them comfortable, I would try contacting Veja customer service to see what they can offer you.
@@prettybigshoes Thanks for the helpful feedback. Yes, I notice that the entire shoe's cushioning comes only from its (quite firm and stiff) insole; remove that, and you can pinch between the shoe interior and the sole exterior and have only a fraction of an inch between your fingers; there is no cushioning built into the shoe itself at all. I may try an insole transplant, as you suggest, but it's disappointing, as part of the shoe's appeal is its environmental sustainability. Not only is having to buy a new insole wasteful but I'm not sure if there is much out there in terms of an environmentally friendly replacement insole. At any rate, I'll give the shoe a couple weeks and see how it feels after then. Maybe the sole softening up will be enough.
I’ve actually just got a new pair & the insole seems a bit thinner to me than my original pair & they weigh slightly lighter too. So Campos may have minor manufacture changes over time too. I’ll be reporting back on my blog & hopefully a new video soon.
@@narutodayo yes there could well be some differences. Veja could fill you in on the specifics. From a sustainability viewpoint, they do intend their products to last at least. My original pair sadly got a hole at the heel after 1 year & my new pair are a free replacement from Veja as they consider this “premature wear”.
@allineJ08 I think Veja have updated their Campo size chart conversions again and they look accurate to me now. On that it says 6 us is size 37 (as usual) and this should fit if your foot length is 23.3 to 23.6 cm. They also do a size 37.5 and if you’re unsure contact Veja for more measurements and fitting advice. Hope this helps
Did this happen your pair? Did you try contacting Veja about it? My sole was in great condition after 1 year, but I wasn’t wearing them all day everyday.
Lovely to hear Megan thanks. They look very similar styles. Is there much difference between them? I love the look of Esplars even more - they’re so neat - but went for Campos because I saw a few reviews saying they were a more substantial shoe with a bit more support? Thanks Janine
@@prettybigshoes I found the Campos do offer more support than the Esplars. The Esplars tongue is also a little uncomfortable but it breaks in the more you wear it. I found the Esplars to run a tad bit bigger than the Campos but not much of a difference where I had to go a size smaller. I do like the look of the Esplars better and I feel like they pair nicely with any type of outfit. Overall, both are really great shoes! However, if I plan to do a lot of walking, definitely the Campos. :)
I've heard this said. I've tried on Stan Smiths but they didn't feel comfy at all so I've never had a pair to truly compare. In fairness, while my Campos feel nice & comfy to me now (except walking >3 miles), they took time to get used to as I was used to super soft sneakers like Skechers. If they didn't look so pretty, I might have even returned them because of that but SO glad I didn't!
I'm usually 44 / 11.5 us women's in Nike and wear 42 Campos so 42 should be plenty for you. But shoe fit is very individual so it's always best to check with Veja direct if you're unsure of sizing or if buying elsewhere make sure you can return them (hopefully for free) if they don't feel right. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the sizing feedback. My sister & I both actually wear one euro size smaller than usual in Veja Campo. I think they can feel generous because they are quite wide, but feet are so individual so thanks for sharing your experience.
The tongue has very soft padding behind it & I'm not aware of it at all, but my socks are higher than the tongue. I do see plenty of people out & about wearing Vejas with no show socks though.
@@AMAM-yf2om that said I don't think I'd personally like the top of the tongue directly against my skin but that's true for all my sneakers - I always wear socks :)
@@AMAM-yf2om Many people actually complain about the tongue being painful in the beginning and cutting into the bare skin if you wear short socks but after a short time you break the shoes in it becomes comfortable. My Vejas are full white and so I wear them with full-white and scrunched crew socks most of the time and I never had a problem with an uncomfortable feeling even not in the beginning. Another good trick is to bind and hide the laces behind the tongue where the short socks are. This way the laces work as kind of a cushion that doesn't let the tongue touch your skin.
Have you tried Veja yourself Andi? They seem good quality after 3 months & I’m hopeful they will last well but time will tell. They are pricey enough, but at least more money goes to the producers and they try to use sustainable methods.
@@prettybigshoes i have 2 pairs an urca and a campo but they are damaging so fast. The leather material cracks and the sole come off after a few months. So hope you have a better luck with them.✌🏻
@@prettybigshoes i ordered them via Office shoes so not directly from veja. Campo have been returned today to office shoes. I was wearing them for 2 months and the sole just come off from the shoe. 🙈 Honestly for that much money I excepted a better quality. Anyway i like design it’s just the quality seems bad. 🤷🏻♀️
Very sorry to hear about your quality issues but glad office took them back at least. I know that both Nike & Adidas have good warranties if you buy direct in case that’s of use

I just got these in navy I can’t wait to wear them for the first time tomorrow 😊 love yours in pink
Cool enjoy! I hope you love yours too. I adore my rose gold ones even more than my original pink pair 😍

I have veja wear it everyday at work for 3 months now no problem only good compliments 😊

The life span of the outer sole is about 5-6 months if you wear it on daily basis doing office work, then it would crack & decompose.

I have my esplars now for almost 3 years. Wore them a LOT and the soles are still oke
I have the campos and esplars. I prefer the campos over the esplars but both are really comfy! Probably my favorite shoes 😍

I wear my Esplar for work and the Campo for casual days
Good stuff 👍 Esplar look very similar to Campo, but lighter and more minimal? Do you walk much in your Esplar? I’m tempted to try them thanks

No the only problem I had was the hole at the heel after a year. But veja replaced them and my new Campos are nearly a year old now & all good 👍
