it must've taken them at least a few years before they trusted that he was intelligent enough to not only files their taxes for them but also outwit the irs if they ever get audited but once they did, i imagine it was the happiest day of their lives
A train set for a child doing taxes, seriously? breaking the Tax code. I love to hear if that could be enforced or a judge rule for the State on that one!!
Context of the episode matters here. Sheldon had gotten the family incredibly large tax write-offs for several years. The auditor was trying to find a technicality so that Sheldon's tax returns could be thrown out. Basically, Sheldon was so smart that he was cheating the IRS out of thousands of dollars
@@SinisterPixel It's not cheating, if it's legal. Very minor detail, but saying it is cheating means you admit of wrong doing and that could in fact make it illegal as you are attempting a fraud.

In reality any form of compensation would probably suffice to prove violation of the statutes. Otherwise you could "pay" in groceries to avoid liability. And you can totally trade a model train especially in certain model train collector circles. Imagine the father got him a comic book. Would you say you can't trade a comic book?

@2:24 Sheldon moves with one hand and punches the clock with the other. Any somewhat experienced chess player knows you are supposed to use the same hand.
@@BeansOnButter excelent question. When you let go of a piece your turn is over (no take backs). You can only hit the clock AFTER you made your move. Using the same hand to move and hit the clock ensures you don’t hit the clock too soon. Time is very precious in a tournament game, every split second can make a difference in the end game. Yes! I mean the laws would be about 20/30 years different given Shawshank was set in the 40's for its initial start and went through the 50's and ultimately ends in 67 when we Followed Red through parole to meeting up with Andy and I believe Young Sheldon is set late 80's and Early 90's and surely in the intervening years between the 2 Characters there would have been some changes to US Tax laws and rules but god damn it yes that would be cool

Everyone needs a Sheldon in their life.
mostly in the area of taxing lol

Absolutely. Personally I would ask him to be my tutor.

What to hell….why are we getting audited…..what you sure it doesn’t say applauded…hahaha cracks me up that kid
Lots of time and effort spent to squeeze pennies out of a struggling family
I think it's more that they're surprised that the tax has been done by an unqualified 9 year old kid, which was an anomaly in tax practices.
Sort of
But more people are happy to just accept and not succeed in life and be gud slaves
That's just the tax man in general
I also like to think of it as ‘George’ teaching ‘Sheldon’ a lesson for going behind his dad’s back.

I like young sheldon better than big bang.
Young Sheldon seemed to be better because then he was a kid and seeing his environment and why he turned out the way he was.
Same
Except cheating on his wife, and a few other things, George was a good father.
