This song made me realize that as a young man I had to leave the ghetto of Baltimore city. I joined the Air Force and got to see and experience things that I would never have had I not left. I love Momma Patti. At 56 you out of respect for her you I have t always remember to put I title in front of her name whether it is miss or mamma.

Love love love Miss Patti!!! Saw her live at Radio City many many times, shes always the greatest to me.,, this was 80’s of course & featured in Beverly Hills Cop! Heard it first when seeing the movie after i snuck into theater since i was only 9! But loved me some Eddie Murphy already even then... Ms Patti is a queen, adore this woman! And i bet they couldnt use clips from movie for video but its a cute scene when he first arrives in LA...My fave from Patti will always be the REAL & original Lady Marmalade. That was my jam dude! You MUST watch Bev Hills Cop!!! Classic. Hilarious

Patti LaBelle's "Stir It Up" will always instantly pop the scene from "Beverly Hills Cop" into the mind & hearts of all of us 80's babies & 90's teens, hopefully young folks will keep the song & film safe from being forgotten, thank you....

I heard it at the club before seeing the movie. Big hit right off the bat. Uplifting high energy. Made everybody want to dance when we heard that deep buzzy synth in the intro BOM BOM...bombom BOM BOM.

I almost forgot about this song, but man when it started playing it took me right back. I've never actually seen the video, but I do remember it on the radio. It reminds me of the *Neutron Dance* by the *Pointer Sisters* it's funny how back then a song on the radio would make you want to see the movie. Even though I didn't see the movie until the nineties when I rented it ( yes on vhs) talk about dating yourself lol. As always looking forward to seeing your next reaction peace ✌️ ☮️ and blessings 🙏!

You should try Jump by the Pointer Sisters, also from the same soundtrack. It has the same vibe. I interviewed Ms. LaBelle for my teen community newspaper after her concert. At that time she was high energy and wild on stage, and very soft spoken off stage. She lost several sisters to cancer. If I recall correctly none of them lived passed 43. Her mother and father died before reaching 50. Once she got safely passed her 50th birthday is when she truly felt alive, that's probably when she came out of her timidity.

Patti, such a sweetheart. Always full of energy and what a fantastic voice. A songstress with a similar vibe and sound, was Deniece Williams, with her song "Let's Hear It For the Boys" from the Footloose soundtrack. you should check it out as well.
