Oh those cones of yarn... I am working through my stash that contains several sweaters worth of yarn before I allow myself to buy a cone, but I am going to get there. The J & S cones are helping to move me along. And Emma... your dedication to the process of yarn creation is inspiring. Not something I will ever do, but I love to watch the process. Everything made from that yarn will have so much love worked into it. Lastly, although I am not a color work knitter yet... I will purchase Emma's starry cup cozy pattern ... The pattern is inspriring me to finally open that door and explore a new to me world.... One more way an industrious and curious person can make beautiful and useful objects with 2 sticks and some string..... I am very excited to start on one.
Congratulations Corinne! I’m so glad to see you have joined the world of toy knitting, if only for one project. Your daughter will love it, and isn’t that why we make toys?!?
Very much enjoyed this Shopcast. I listened while on my Peloton which kept me on the bike longer. So much inspiration. Loved Emma’s and Kelsey’s segments. Thanks so much!!!
Another great episode! So much inspiration. I can’t wait to get my hands on the new Aran Jon Arbon! And thank you to Kelsey for keeping me sane with gift knitting season. Letting go of knitting something for ‘everyone’ and will take pleasure in the gifts I am able to get done.
what synchronicity -- I sat down this morning to knit a bit wearing my Hirne cardigan, and started up the shopcast and there's Maggie in hers! such a lovely pattern, and lovely shopcast as usual!
Such a great shopcast- I love Nana Duck!!!!!! The new (to TWT) John Arbon yarn is a true WOW. Maggie, please bring your fair isle sweater to the next shopcast - I'd love to see it!!!
Great inspiration as always. Gift knitting or not is all wonderful. Love Gudrun’s new hats and am thinking of the DK pattern! Thank you again for sharing your love of woolie wool!
Bravo for using seizing the opportunity (however unwelcome) presented by your vest to modify, learn, and grow. It's beautiful. And I couldn't agree more with Kelsey--in fact, my gift knitting motto is stolen from Lord Peter Wimsey (ohhh, Dorothy Sayers would make a great British yarn/book gift box...). I knit gifts "as my Whimsy takes me" and bestow them upon loved ones throughout the year. It has removed the holiday pressure from gift knitting and brought back my delight in it. The whole episode was lovely.
Wishing everyone at The Woolly Thistle a very happy and healthy holiday! I look forward to each weeks episode and the beautiful projects everyone has been working on, there is always so much inspiration and very grateful for Connie’s transparency in the lack of drive to pickup projects even when for people you love. I’m deeply sorry for your loss!!!
Oh, my; the Appledore colors are so pretty! Love Nana Duck - I need to knit those critters. I think Horatio (the donkey) will be first on my needles, when I get there. It is a challenging time, so I appreciate your Shop Casts even more.
I am so excited about coming back over to the US and visiting The Woolly Thistle!! I'm watching - while working another sample to bring in my DK - while the snow falls heavily outside here in Perthshire, Scotland. ☃
Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying my Selection box! I love the colors I received, and have great plans to make several projects from the suggestion card-possibly even a Christmas gift or two.
Delighted was the perfect word to describe how I felt when opening the Selection Box. I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. I am still enjoying just admiring all that yarny goodness in one place. I may have already added to the collection to make a vest. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving.
I LOVED the segments from Emma and Kelsey! I learn so much from them. Corinne's support chicken is so sweet! I can't wait to see her completed. Another great podcast! Happy Thanksgiving gals!😊
Another wonderful episode. I bought the J&S bag and I’m going to be knitting a couple of gnomes for friends. I joined the knit along but I haven’t had a lot of time to post. I’ve been doing a lot of Christmas knitting and hats for the homeless in the big city closest to me. The more I see the toys the more I am drawn to try knitting one. They are so cute. And of course I need to make an emotional support chicken. So much knitting, so little time. ❤❤❤
Corinne, your Nana Duck is already adorable, and I can’t wait to see her all finished! I have Mouche and Friends, but haven’t started any of the little friends yet and you are inspiring me to start! I have two sweet granddaughters who will love them, I just have to pick which one to make first 😊
My Emotional Support Chicken went to Maghaberry, NI. My daughter fell completely in love with her, but our little granddaughter likes to invite her for “tea!” It’s time to make another, but I really should FINISH SOMETHING FIRST! Argh! I’m finishing up my Dacite (Stolen Stiches - Carol Feller) just in time for our New Hampshire winter. It’s made from Lettlopi in a beautiful shade of blue. Maybe “Heaven Blue.” Thanks for introducing me to the joy of woolly knitting!
As always, what a great episode full of inspiration. Wow Corinne, the vests are beautiful. I have been following this sage closely as I would love to knit this once you figure it all out. You embody your mantra: "All knitting is good knitting". What would life be if we never learned from our mistakes?
All the woolly goodness! Saving up for J&S cones! Hard to decide which colors though! Prefer the “heather-y” blends, so yummy! Love the colorwork tips (ANY bits-n-bobs will do)! Thanks for everything! JA Appledore yarn colors…Delish! The names are a hoot!
I knit a beautiful pair of mittens in Rauma for my aunt and immediately wanted them back after I sent them so I am working on a pair for myself! A double gift knit- one for my aunt, one for me :) The Rauma is from y'all of course!
Corinne, I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you loving, healing energy in a time of grief. It's another fantastic episode. Watching you guys is dangerous because it makes me want all the yarn and books. Happy Thanksgiving! Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
Corinne, I think cutting away the knitted fabric around the armholes of your vest is a good way to go! In fact, some Scandinavian patterns tell you to knit the top of the sweater without any neck opening and then reinforce with a sewing machine and basically cut out a semicircle for the neck, which is similar to what you will be doing but just around the armhole. The vest looks so lovely - would be a pity to give it up! You can do it! 😊
I'm embracing Kelsey's reminder that we don't HAVE TO knit gifts. I always start too late and scramble to finish when it's already such a busy time. On the other hand, I do have the Old Port pattern and so who knows, might be a couple hats to gift:)
I always love watching all the excitement in your wooly world! Corrine, had the same problem in decreasing the arm holes when I knit the McCartney sweater which I turned into a vest. I usedJamieson and smith 2 ply and after I steeked the arm holes, I did cut it to decrease the amount of fabric and it turned out just fine!! I steeked with the sewing machine and have blocked it- I m wearing it now. Thanks for all your stories of knitting challenges and successes!
I originally found your shop 2 years ago while visiting Fairlee, VT, we go 3x a year. I was so disappointed your shop was online only and I couldn’t visit. Typically we visit over the holidays so I fear I may need to make a separate trip to visit the shop in person. I then found the shopcast and have been an avid shopper and water since. I am excited to open my December goodies!
Love a new shopcast and all of your contributors! Ruth’s crochet projects are always such fun and I love Emma’s new cozy pattern. Kelsey - such cute hat and stash colorwork cardigan projects! Wools that are a bit crunchy and rustic are my absolute favorites. Corinne - your cowl and sweater pattens are just stunning.❤
This month turned from wonderfully beautiful 80 to snowy 20’s seemingly overnight. It’s double sweater weather! All the woolly wool from TWT --Now! Happy Thanksgiving and the beginning of Advent.
Love that Corinne is about to cut her vest for her desired fit! I’m about to needle felt steeks on a colorwork vest for the first time-it’s all about being satisfied with doing what you love!💕 ❤🧶🫶
Your shopcast brightens my day, thank you! I find that knitting comforts my soul in tough times and it is lovely to know others feel the same! I love the striped socks and didn’t see the yarn on their website, perhaps it isn’t available anymore. Happy Thanksgiving knitting friends!
Corinne, so sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty. I have a kitty that is always on my lap when I sit down to knit so I know how much you miss her.
Loved seeing all your knits ladies! Can’t wait to see the finished duck. And the stripey socks are magical. Love seeing the crochet as well and the fleece process. Another successful shopcast.
Love you guys ❤ always look forward to the shop-casts. Totally love that Corrine is knitting the Duck ❤. Love Gudrun totally loved looking at segments of her visit. She is a totally delightful woman and her designs are beautiful. Love all the segments totally enjoy shopping with you.
If you finish learning everything you can glean from the Fortrose vest and it isn't wearable you could cut it and sew it into a lovely bag! It's a beautiful pattern and I love the colors.
Watching your shop cast just makes my Friday evening so relaxing and inspiring. Corinne, welcome to the joys of toy-knitting. Whenever I knit one of Cinthia’s patterns I just marvel at how clear and accurate they are and how much personality each animal has. Once the eyes get put in, the animal seems to just come alive. Thanks to the rest of TWT crew for all of your segments. My head is filled with inspiration. Thanks so much!!
I so enjoyed the shopcast today on a cold, wet day in PA. Such woolly goodness! I learned a lot from Kelsey and really liked Emma’s segment. The combing of her fleece was so good!
Another great podcast for all of us to enjoy. Thank you to Kelsey for her timely reality/peptalk regarding gift knitting; yes, I was stressing about it and she set me straight. So many lovely new yarn brands I love the colors of the new Appledore Aran yarns and can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Thank you for such a fun shop cast! Your wooly yarn and projects inspire me. I just ordered the J&S bakers dozen and hoping it will inspire me to knit outside my usual color combos.
Sorry for the loss of your cat, Corinne. I remember your coop casts from back in the day; loved the sound of your chickens. All of the segments are wonderful and fun to watch. Love Emma's cup cozey and will definitely check that out. Thank you especially to Kelsey for the practical gift knitting advice. I appreciate your knitting words of wisdom!
Love the Shopcast... "It's a good thing!" like Martha, hahaha! You both are so funny. I always enjoy seeing what everyone is knitting. Kelsey, your cardigan colors are gorgeous!!!! That all plays together so nicely. Have a great day everyone!
Thank you Emma - great overview of using ‘bits & bobs’ for colorwork. That was very freeing as was permission not to gift knit. My gift knitting is clearing WIPs in process by end of the year and starting fresh in the New Year.
I loved seeing the Appledore Aran colors! Pig Snout is such a cute name and beautiful color. I knitted the Hudson Ripple Bandana in Appledore DK (Pig Snout) and loved it.
Loved this episode! You always have great potential "eye candy" projects, but am eewwhhh la la-ing over the new John Arbon aran weight yarn you featured and see a project in the future! I have two Jamieson & Smith Baker's Dozen packs coming and I can't wait!!!! Thank you for the great offer just in time for the holidays!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your woolly crew!!
Such an enjoyable shopcast! Loved seeing Corinne’s Mouche & Friends duck. I’ve just recently purchased the book and two kits, getting ready for the arrival of a great nephew early next year! I’m now inspired!
I haven't missed one of your shopcasts in the three years since I joined the group. This is the first comment I've left because it is the first episode I've been able to watch on the Friday when it comes out. I especially enjoy seeing the progress on your projects.
Brilliant! To quote Corinne! Thank you, as always, for inspiration. I'm grateful to all of you at TWT.
I really enjoyed Ruth’s segment and the review of the mosaic book with comparisons of knitted and crocheted motifs.
Oh those cones of yarn... I am working through my stash that contains several sweaters worth of yarn before I allow myself to buy a cone, but I am going to get there.
