  • 29th June 2024 marked the 400th anniversary of the signing of the 1624 Pembroke charter by King James I. We celebrated at Pembroke with a Festival showcasing 400 years of research, impact and community, featuring talks and panel discussions with alumni, academics and students, covering topics from AI, medicine and conservation to translation and human rights.
This 'in conversation' session examines the importance of language in diplomacy, bringing together a historical study with recent frontline experience. Professor Henrietta Harrison, Stanley Ho Fellow in Chinese and author of Wolfson History Prize nominated The Perils of Interpreting, is joined by Lord (Peter) Ricketts, former Head of British Diplomatic Service and Honorary Fellow.
