- The Sustainable City hosted the Million Solar Stars challenge in partnership with Akon Lighting America. Students raced the solar model cars they designed and built on the rooftop of Fairgreen International School to demonstrate the value of solar energy in a fun, competitive and scalable manner.

What @President Oneday is saying is true - and it needs to be said. As much as Akon is heading in the right direction, the way he is going, the white man, and non-Africans will still hold the reigns of power - and he Akon (and a few Africans) will become very rich in the process.
Of course, almost anything that takes Africans in that direction (of improved economical situation etc.), is better than where Africans find them selves on the global economic stage - *BUT* there are better ways of travelling along that road.
One better way is to make sure that the money generated stays within the black community (by giving them the chance to bid for the new works etc.), instead of simply assuming that only non-Africans can help create the cities and industries the continent needs.
What kind of message does that send to young Africans? - that they always have to rely on non-Africans, (or even worse the white man), to "save" or "rescue" them - it sends out a far more powerful message for Africa to see other (black) Africans helping to build Africa - that's all @President oneday was saying.
