- Fun little challenge run I did recently. The goal was to beat the game without using the Focus button at all, which is used for healing and some other important things. Hope you enjoy!

Hiveblood IS a good charm; helped me get past NKG. Provided you keep dodging long enough, that double damage is reduced to one
I love hiveblood. It's really good for bosses. If you can dodge bosses for 10 seconds after a hit it negates all damage or halves it

@@konakg8174 I know it’s not cheating, but even then it still annoys me because I was hoping for a no soul playthrough, it’s like saying I’m gonna play through minecraft without using the space bar and then changing jump to like p and technically not using the space bar.

You can actually cheese the flower quest really easily. Set a dream gate at the flower quest start, DON’T get the flower yet, bench at queen’s gardens stag station, then dream gate back, grab the flower, save quit, then make your way to the grave with little difficulty. If you fuck that up, then you just have my skill.
getting the flower forces you’re save point to the bench just outside the pale mourner, save quitting would do nothing

thanks for that quick cast PSA. After like a year after giving up steel soul (and 100% speedrun and 5 hour speedrun) and pantheon 5 I did both first try. damn, shade soul + shamans stone eats everything.

Joni’s blessing is just kinda bad, even if it was just free health with no downsides it would still kinda suck

It costs 4 charm notches it's probably the worst charm in the game
The only way Joni’s blessing could be considered viable is mixed with hive blood, and even that’s a stretch.
Hiveblood is amazing for bosses like NKG, and I like it because I’m not that good at the game but not terrible either, so it heals a lot for me.

"No focus run" - Oh, okay. This will be an interesting challenge, not being able to heal. Hard, but not impossible.
"Pantheon 5" - You're actually insane. I'm calling the police
(Disclaimer, I haven’t seen anything yet and just giving my knowledge before I begin the video)
It is possible. Since the only way to heal is either benches or collecting four mask shards, you would use those. The only two ending you can get is 1, true ending (defeating radiance) or two, completing pantheon five.

10:29 This "floating" is actually a platforming game design feature called "coyote ledges" where a character can stand on a ledge when almost off it to be more forgiving. You can also see this in games such as celeste.
There's "coyote time" but I don't think there are "coyote ledges". Coyote time is where you have a small time window to use your jump after walking off of a ledge. That's different from the hitboxes of the ledges and the characters being slightly larger than the sprites, which is very common since hitboxes are usually rectangles.
I think the knight's hitbox is just wider than his legs

I did the second trail at the Coliseum with channelled nail and no howling wraiths. Just regular old vengeful spirit and the dive. All because I didn't know how to get the other stuff.

While I was watching this I thought about an odd restriction. How much of the map can you go through without any keys? You can access City of Tears easily from the east side, you can use a skip to enter the sewers (though I doubt you could reach very far behind a lever). The only inaccessible areas I can think of are the collector's tower and godhome.
On current patch you can't get to shade soul I believe.
It also depends on whether you count anything that opens an area (King's brand comes to mind) as a key
@@Funrmunt "Key" in this case would be anything that has the word key, or acts as a physical key. King's Brand wouldn't count, it allows passage into a protected area, doesn't really physically unlock the place.
@@byronholt2031 would kingsoul count as a key or not? It is a physical thing, but it acts similarly to the King's brand
