- This is the first of three days crossing Panama at the Ocean to Ocean Enduro.
The first part of our journey took us through the deep mud and slippery rocks as we made our way through the Jungle.
I'm riding with @JesseAnsley on a KTM 125 SX, not your traditional Adventure Bike. I'll get part two and three up asap.

Chris just put about 2500 miles of wear on that DR in the space of 25 meters 😂
I was thinking the samethine! He was bouncing off that rev limiter like kids running into balls in a ball pit.
Thanks.
I’ve always wondered what a 890 would sound like doing 24000 RPM.
🤣
🤣😂🤣😂😅😅🤣😂🤣😂😅😁
hahha
“put er’ in the ketchup!”
"yep, twice on Tuesdays" broke me
Your attitude and who you are is the reason I watch . Thank you
Thank you!
5:10 I had to tell my DR650 to look away for this bit! 😳🤣 Crazy slippery hills, well done Chris 💪😎
That poor DR didn't know Chris was coming up the hill
Ride it like you stole it Birch!
He reved the shit out of this poor single cylinder
XD
You're awesome and we appreciate your videos. I gain confidence each video you post. 🤙🏼
Thanks man!
I never understood why people get to the top of a hard line and then stop like there is nobody coming up behind them. Show some courtesy, move past the spot and get tf out the way. 😂
Absolutely rips my nightie, too. Time and again I work out a line up root mud bastard hill and some ambulance chaser is parked right in my high velocity and spectacular exit.
Oh man that's such a dick move,it's so logical to get off the line 🙄
That used to strip my sprockets with frustration
Natural selection I guess.
Not all understand that though
That’s just awful conditions, I’m so glad I’m not there 😂🏍🇨🇦
That looked like a complete nightmare at the start but you always keep your cool and make it look easy. Cracked me up with your “yeah and twice on a Tuesday” comment 😂 such a kiwi thing to say. Also crack up when you limmy bash roosted those fellas in that little paddock. 😂 i love watching you videos and listening to your commentary as it cracks me up all the time.
This was so intense, I nearly cracked my tablet in two pieces as if it was the handle bar! Great ride Chris!
Just Insane !! and on a 890 doing hard core rpm .... respect Chris !
Nothing but respect mate - incredible.
Wow Chris! I knew you were a badass but that video was fun! Shelby and I enjoyed getting to hangout and ride with you in Panama
Always showing what the bikes capable of in the right hands! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💪🏽🏍💨
Got to love it! That looked like some hard going there, looks like you had a good time with it!
Yeah it was a lot of fun. Definitely a work out.
Awesome! Cant wait for the next videos. Dunno how you do it, insane skills.
Crazy adventure! Cheers from Brazil
My favorite video yet. Thanks.
🤣🤣🤣 “yeah, twice on Tuesdays”… so funny
That was epic, great bike and even better rider
👓great to watch
Thanks!
Bravo...COMPLENTTI sei un pilota incrdibile mi piacci tantissimo.❤
🤣🤣 twice on Tuesdays hahahaha that was a Kiwi answer hahaha loved it
Continuous watching making me to jump in to the ride and my mind saying.....go. Go...😆🤣😄.excellent energy ,brilliant riding skills. Best wishes.👌
damn, difficulty level through the roof, wel done !
What an awesome job you have.
You are a king 👑 off-road..no problem 😊🤗
Great video. Thank you for not just posting a success story, but some of the issues you face and that you stall just like us newbees. I bought the 890 as my first motorcycle last year and was a little discouraged with my first few times into the wild. You build my courage!
Absolutely best choice for a first bike!
Epic day sums it up Chris, glad the DR and the 890 are not mine on the limiter😂. Great watching!
Another incredible show of skill on an adv bike…deep mud is such a pain in the ass
Looking forward to the footage from day 2 and 3!
Helge remembering he did this with a machete, a couple of months, twice the weight and one quarter the horsepower 😅 well done guys, looks exhausting, thanks for sharing
I feel like taking a shower after seeing this!
The footage and editing are as impressive as your bike skills.
As always Chris to the rescue 😂😂
Just another day in Nevesville or Riverhead A 👍👍
Great vid, ace 💪🏁
Chris is a Very skillful rider .. top
Absolutely Bonkers!!
Holy shit, man! That was EPIC!
What a mess man! Good times.
Hey excelent even. Hard to be done on Adventure motorcycle simple you are an allien. So good to lean from your off road clinic here in Panama
Living the dream! 🧡
Love seeing big bikes being punted through crap terrain. Makes me want to practise and give it a go. 💪👍
Get in to it!
Nice job Chris.
Better than netflix
Amazing; nasty trails on an 890.
You are the boss.
I'm waiting for my 890 R, maybe next Monday.
What tires do you use and air pressure for that type of terrain?
2nd part please
"YEP, twice on Tuesdays" lol!
Nice riding 👍 Great video too! 😁
This is hilarious. I used to lease that property at the end of the stage, to run a bed and breakfast. Awesome riding by the way. There is no way I would take my 890 through all that.
It's a nice place!
Awesome can't wait for part 2
Well done Chris, was having heart palpitations just watching you on my computer let alone being there. :)
Well, There Chris goes again! Riding an 890 where I couldn't ride a 350. Way to go Birchy!
Bleeping brilliant
Awesome - Thanks!
MUUUUY buen capitulo . 👏👏👏
🐴 7:07 min
Good stuff making sure the lads get their tip!
Gotta respect the locals!
@@ChrisBirchNZ Aye the Colombians are great folks too-We'll get you over here sooner or later
Very impressive but I can't say it looks like much fun! I live in Costa Rica so I know all about that kinda mud... it is super extra slippery!
10:30 you are puffing like me when I use my helmet GoPro 😁
That mud just makes the day a slog…
Good video though 👍🏻
Brilliant 😊 have ever done a old verse new, like 690 v 625 or 990 adventure v 890.
Jesus christ, that was Insane, but really cool. 👍👍
That's amazing bro! we are scheduling in Colombia some trips, just let me know! Regards!
Love it...., So You can try in Indonesia for the next... 👍👍
Wow impressive ! We wanna see that rear tire 😉 thanks a lot for your videos!
"twice on Tuesdays" hilarious!!!
"Send in the probe, and your it " love it.😆
Epic video, I would love to do this trip 👍⛰️
Epic!!
Oh man. I feel this ❤😄
Awesome!.. By the way I like how you have kept that banana there for quick bite with zip-ties :) ..
Was giving a thought in trading my ATAS for a smaller bike... found to first gain some "nail kits" to harvest that best! Impressive !
Legend!
Good one Chris you are the tough guy showing Spanish how compete, bit different to south Island, bet its real HOT too
“It seems like the sort of time you’re supposed to do a wheelie.” Yeah buddy! 😂🎉
is that a banana strapped behind your headlight?! 🤣🤣🤣
Hard core!
Epic 👌🏼👌🏼💪🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Love from Nepal♥️♥️🇳🇵
Fantastic video Chris, like always thanks👏🏻👏🏻but I think maybe you really enjoy that terrain a little bit more on a 150 😂😂
I couldn't believe what that 890 would plow through!
Now THAT'S a lot of mud! Truly an endurance track, "get to the finish or die trying" 😂
I wonder what kind of tyres those were on the 890
You can't get enough of the DR650 now ay
Glad I’m not the only one that vocally admonishes themselves whilst riding…😂
Woowww cool, this condition as same as my island, west kalimantan, indonesia, condition soft land, clay, peat, jungle tracking,
More like a pack of angry chainsaws than motorbikes. Lots of clutch and fork seal carnage!
that's pretty intense, I could hear your rear tire howling for mercy at certain times during the video.
My god! Clay-mud hell 🥸
Gooey! BTW, how is that little bag between the clocks and screen mounted? Just velcro?
Great effort doing that on the 890 ADV R. I'm sure you were expending a lot more energy than the guys on the 300s. 9 hours is a long time in that mud.
It was a big day that's for sure. I love the challenge of the bigger bikes, most of the time ha ha
fantastic frend...im indonesia adventure💪💪
That looked SLICK! Could you explain to me why you go full throttle with the wheel spinning like crazy? I thought this would only give less traction and drive?
Just 🤯🤠
My girl friend has ridden and mapped all of the south western Nicaragua on a 150 Serpento, and is now riding and mapping Guatemala..
Looks like you were going from the Caribbean side to the Panama city side (north to South) and looks a lot like that NZ clay
Haha... the valves of that DR
One careful owner’ honest’
Awesome riding Chris/ I'm loving your training videos as well. Quick question do you run your gopro on a chest mount or chin mount?
Glad your enjoying the videos. I run DJ Chin mount mainly
That looked brutal, those poor bikes 😂
I take it you don't use the slip settings? I've been enjoying my Norden and it's slip settings but I've never been in anything that gnarly. That looks like it takes the fun right out of it.
Hills are fun, mud is ok, muddy hills is sweat
We are all at the town of "where ever we are" I suppose.
Mr. Birch, I am sorry for my ignorance but I was wondering which of your say no to slow courses you would recommend. I am 43 and while I have ridden motorcycles for quite some time I would classify my skill level as not very good. While I don’t reck a lot I cannot even wheelie. I currently have and xr650r and some smaller low displacement bikes but I am thinking of changing out the Xr for a 690 or 701. My goal is lighter adventure rinding. I did not know if you would recommend the dirt bike course or the adventure bike course. Thank you for your time Sir. V/R Jonny
Awesome Chris!....very well done!, probably you are in the biggest bike riding there...am I right?
There were some guys on big bikes taking a slightly easier route, full respect to them!
Wow Chris...once again you have made a crazy hard ride on a big bike look easy! Are you running a 15t front sprocket on the 890? Made a huge difference on my 790!
I do on my bike. This one was stock
On that first big hill, were you in 2nd gear on purpose to limit wheel spin?
