Saw them in ‘75 @Avery Fisher Hall. Double bill with Billy Cobham Band. An incredible unforgettable night it was. I believe Randy Brecker was with Cobham at the time and Mike Lawrence was with the Eleventh House. I remember thinking that Mouzon kind of outplayed Cobham but I was young and had that kind of mentality at the time.
Alphonse was the heaviest most adventurous new and dynamic drummer out there at the time just as much if not more than that of Billy Cobham ,sadly today there is only one jazz-rock Gato out there today whom is anywhere as close in terms of technique, chops etc and that's Ron Bruner Jr.whom has played with the late Allan Hokdsworth at the Baked Potato in West L.A..back in 2111 ..
Larry was a God. This band was right up there with The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return To Forever and all those freaky fusion bands from the seventies.
