- Here’s a history of cancelled Spyro The Dragon games! The Spyro series has gone through multiple changes, just like Crash Bandicoot. Moving from one publisher to another (currently Activision), there’s a couple of scrapped Spyro games which not a lot you are aware of, let’s dive into it!

Spyro's series will always be a fun experience and also reliving childhood memories. ^^ I still wished we had that Spyro's Fairy Tales and Agent 9 spin-off game.
Technically speaking, we go that Agent 9 spin-off with Ratchet and Clank.
I think that's what it would come down to today.... I can already hear ''rip-off''

I honestly thought a hero’s tail was meant to be Spyro 5. That’s how I always saw it.
Sure it's true that ideas of Spyro games like: Spyro Ever After, Agent 9 the Game /Prime 8, and Spyro's Kingdom were officially canceled just like the ideas of Crash Bandicoot games like: Crash Bandicoot: Evolution, Crash Landed, Crash Team Racing Reboot 2010, and Cortex Chaos were officially canceled as well that I didn't know that since I was a kid.
But there's still the rumors about new Crash Bandicoot game that is still might be coming in this year 2020, and new Spyro the Dragon game that is still might be coming in next year 2021 as well. That I still can't wait for them after three remakes of Crash & Spyro like: Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy 2017, Spyro: Reignited Trilogy 2018, and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled 2019.
It's been like 12 years since the last brand new Crash & Spyro games from 2008 like: Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant and The Legend of Spyro 3: Dawn of the Dragon before the Skylanders Franchise, and Crash & Spyro remakes.
But I stil can't wait for new Crash & Spyro games. 🙂😁🤞
I loved looking at some of these cancelled spyro games - some of them I’ve never even heard of before! You can’t help but wonder what they would have looked like if they were completed! Informative and interesting video as always

I wonder if the art from the 2012 game will be used for the next game. It looks like it would be a cool area, fully fleshed out and explorable.

Can I make a quick suggestion? I like the little tid-bits of info every now and then, but maybe find a softer sound effect than the KH menu highlight sound effect. It's too 'loud' and distracting compared to the rest of the audio, I'm afraid.

Although it was meant to be an educational game, I would like to see the ideas from Spyro Ever After happen in some way. Maybe the game can take place in a reimagined version of the Fairy World where the levels are based off of Fairy Tails?
I do hope that Agent 9 game can become a reality at some point especially with his improved controls in Spyro Year of the Dragon (Reiginited). Maybe the story can be about how he became Agent 9 for the intro and then he adventures after Spyro rescued him?

Skylanders is painfully underrated. I really enjoyed the games, plus the concept alone is so fun and creative. Sucks how people hate on it purely because of Spyro's face. :p

Jess McSkimmings I’ll admit I didn’t mind the idea of toys to life at first, but it just kept getting so repetitive year in and year out and for the longest time it felt like it was never gonna end. It was surprised when it all did however.
@@BrennySpain I agree, I lost interest when Trap Team came out. There were just too many figures to buy and not enough time between games to afford them all. In fact, I've only just finished my Spyro's Adventure set, and I've been collecting since the beginning.

Based on the art of that un-named Activision game with the title “Dream World 2”, I’m guessing this may have had something to do with the Legend of Spyro. The art style seems quite similar to the style of TLoS, and in the Eternal Night, they did HAVE a dream world. This would explain this title, “Dream World 2”. Possibly a sequel to Dawn of the Dragon? Or maybe this was an idea for an Eternal Night sequel that was scrapped for DoTD?

The Spyro games are really full of interesting dev history, specially the Spyro's Kingdom part. From many concept ideas and devs, gameplay and ambience changing constantly until it became Skylanders. I personally find that a "gritty" Spyro world was too much, The Legend of Spyro wasn't THAT dark either to give Spyro a "bloody" mature take.
And that Xbox prototype sounded very interesting, I wonder how would have been if the game was complete, maybe the first Spyro game for Xbox.

12:38 no, that's not why the information is fake. The website which is now down was a formerly very popular forum site called assemblergames which was shut down last year. There are _plenty_ of archives of the site online - if you go to one of them you'll see the post did stay up and wasn't taken down, but it was shown to be fake anyway when the creator of the post was revealed to be a notorious Spyro hoaxer

That's interesting I always love the cool ideas from the canceled, but most gets recycled into some games. And my biggest plans to begin game making.
I feel like I would have enjoyed a darker and more violent spyro game, but im imagining the game having spyro performing finishing moves by pressing a button when the enemy is weakened, with one finishing move I'm imagining right now having him use the sharp pointy end of his tail to stab the enemy like 6 from aliens vs predator using her tail for some of her finishing moves

With how Agent 9 controls now in Reignited I wouldn't mind at all with him getting a spinoff. He was imo the best of Spyro's friends to play as now, and wouldn't mind his gameplay being expanded on.
Would people compare it to R&C nowadays?
I wouldn't be surprised, but I don't think that should really stop them, and I'm sure game devs can think of things to make Agent 9 stand out on his own as well compared to Ratchet.
Dream World II seems to be inspired by Dark Passage
A *proper* console sequel to A Hero’s Tail (aka ‘Shadow Legacy’) would have been so much better than the DS version we got! Also a game after Dawn of the Dragon would have been nice also with Spyro & Cynder grown up. 😊
If you'd like to know more about why Spyro 4 (Enter the Dragonfly), was a critical and financial failure, there's actually a lot of information you can get out of this document of the game by Mr.FO1:

It explains a lot about what happened in the games development, including some cut content found by the creator of this video.
This alone is able to explain why Enter the Dragonfly never received Xbox/PC ports, as well as why Check Six and Equinox went bankrupt and never made another game outside of EtD.
My thoughts. (Surprised that New Beginning DS wasn't an Shadow Legacy sequel initially.)
Spyro Ever After: Fun idea having Spyro encounter other Fairy Tail Characters. (Imagine his reaction upon learning what dragons were initially were) but
I kinda loath the idea of Spyro being an Educational character. He's a fighter. Not an School Teacher!
2002-2004 Game: Like the enviroment detail much better than Enter the Dragonfly's. Would've liked to play this!
Agent 9 Game: I don't get why they tried making him James Bond. Wasn't that what Sgt. Byrd was?

It feels good to be hearing about Skylanders in 2020! Probably wouldn’t be a hardcore gamer if I wasn’t into it and probably not a fan of the original and Legend of Spyro games. I wish I could say the same about the original fanbase regarding Skylanders in the first place. At least some aren’t bad, but most from what I’ve seen have constantly complained until the reignited trilogy was announced. Glad you’re not one of them, Vivi.

Oh hey Vivi I’m sorry if I asked you this before, but have you played a game called scaler that was released on ps2 at all? I actually played it for the first time a couple of years back. It was actually pretty good overall I thought. I didn’t love it but it was quite a fun platformer. If it wasn’t for cynical, aka thegamersjoint, I would’ve had no idea it existed either.

I feel like spyro with those darkish blue eyes looks terrible. Less saturated colors of blue, green blue, green or even a Grey purple would have been better.
