This may be off topic. But I suffer from anxiety and depression. I love your restoration videos, they really do relax me and gives me an appreciation for the small things in life. Your videos are very helpful for relaxing me as well as being fun and light hearted content. What I'm saying is thank you very much... Your a legend.! Love and respect! 🤗
Sorry to say but "anxiety" is just what happens when truth is near. Instead or running to your usual escapes, sit still and quite and let the truth catch up. True peace and joy. Yes the truth hurts but it's worth it. Good luck
It makes a big difference, having down to earth blokes engaging in a little innocent and constructive fun. Thank You for your time, the fun you have and that you give us. Bonza Marty!
You poor poor man. Was that why the expression ‘you suk’ was used to display your frustration? However, it all came out alright in the end? Well done Marty.
I had this Mustang as a kid and it was one of my favorites. I can understand having to strip and repaint a model as I have done this more than once and it is never fun. You really did an excellent job of the restoration and you saved the model after the paint melted the suspension tab. Great sheet plastic work too! Thanks for sharing this.
l remember baremetalHW customized one of these and he said that this is the only one with such mechanism as lesney steered into autosteering pretty soon.
Nice restoration of a model that kept throwing hurdles in your path. Your persistence, ingenuity, and continued good cheer paid off. You really should have painted it Bullitt-green, though.
Marty, you are truly a gem!! I am addicted to these little restorations and have searched for and watched other makeovers. None are on your caliber! You are truly a perfectionist and your end product proves that! I LOVE watching your transformations!
I love your show! I get up early in the morning and enjoy watching your show because it's very relaxing before a hectic day at work. You truly are the Bob Ross of the Matchbox car painting world! Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Thank you for sharing the journey with all the bumps in the road. I so understand the frustration, but you got there in the end and the result is grand! Ace show mr! Thank you, cheers!
I discovered your channel a faew weeks ago and have binged watched all of your content your so talented and funny ive ebjoyed watching enormously thank you for the uploads. 😸
Spectacular restoration to kickstart my morning. Had to get up at 5:00 a.m. to head to a rugby match 3 hours away so this was much needed. Keep up the good work, Marty.
Excellent work...! When my brother turned sixteen years old, he convinced my parents to purchase him an old beat up 66 fastback Mustang in the same off-white color. He worked on that car for two decades and raced it at many local tracks. I’ve been looking for this casting for him...someday.
Hi Marty. Hello from Germany. Early afternoon over here, and i just enjoyed your new makeover. Good work! So much problems, but you made it and brought this 53year old Mustang back to life. Nice idea to keep the painting details more to the original. Imo it saves the charme and attraction of these old toys. You used plastic glue from Revell, a german company. They produce plastic scale model-kits. In my childhood days, middle of the 70's, i made a lot of them. Revell, Airfix and at least Matchbox. Thank you for another fantastic video. Keep up your good work.
Always enjoy your videos, Marty. As a Mustang guy, I thank you for sharing this restoration with us. It just so happens that it's a nice birthday gift to me. Cheers!
Another stunning result Marty. You encountered just about every obstacle known to man and yet you pulled off a perfect restoration. Most impressive and I love the humour at the end.
Another excellent restore job! I think I'd be introducing Kevin to the barby. Do Koalas taste of eucalyptus? Evergreen Styrene sheet is very useful stuff. I keep a variety on hand for my model work. 👍😎
Really loved this one, my grandpa restored a 64-1/2 convertible and the Mustang will always have a place in my heart. Good on ya for bring this car back to glory (by the way, it appears to be a 65-66 as most people choose to ignore the 64-1/2 designation when making these cars into models) keep it easy and have a wonderful day
modelling companies like AMT and Revell still use vacuum metalizing for their chrome trees. once you've got the machine, it's a cheap process to add chrome to plastic.
@@kruleworld I'm sorry if you took my question the wrong way. It's just the way things move so fast now days, I really never knew about that process. Thanks for for your reply.
Hi Marty, I dont know if you still look at old videos comments, but after watching your videos for a little while, I have decided to start customizing and restoring some old cars myself, teaching myself from your videos alone. Thank you for inspiring me😁😁😁
The classic ford mustang, my teen dream car. There are other casting in that series that had steering. Well today's video was full of lessons on primer and adverse chemical reactions. That went from sh#* to shiny , nice recovery after all the mishaps. Thanks for sharing Mike from Texas, Take Memories, Leave Footprints
The car actually has some very nice detail to it which couldn't be seen by the red paint that was on it. The stripping, wire wheeling and the primer brought out some fairly crisp features.
Thats my No 1 Top Matchbox of all. I had one when I was a kid, and when I started to collect, this was the first I purchased. Lovely resto from you. :)
I enjoy watching you try different techniques. I very much enjoy watching the failures, not that I wish ill upon you, so we can learn form them and see how you overcome the problems. If never tried anything new and everything worked perfectly the first time, the videos would eventually become boring.
Aah... Saturday afternoon, just about time Marty; weekend just got a whole lot better...👍🏼👍🏼 PS.. You need to rope in the Minions against Kevin-the-Gremlin.
Great work Marty! Yes, it took longer than expected, but the final result looks just like the one I've had for over 35 years, that's in very good condition. It was part of my grandmother's Christmas decorations and by the time I got it, it wasn't a toy to me, but a keepsake. In fact, you've restored quite a few of the Matchbox cars I got from Grandma; the Lomas Ambulance, the Greyhound bus, the Denver fire truck, and at least 11 other models. The Lomas Ambulance restoration was the first video of yours that I saw, and I was hooked.
Great video on a straight restoration. Problems occurred that others may face and Marty solves them quite well! Now about that damn Koala! Don't forget to see how Rob from Matchbox Garage does his 8e Mustang!!!😀
Hi Marty! Nice job & great video as usual 🤩 and Kevin strikes back! 😂😆😅 Thanks a lot for the good time, cheers and best regards for you & your family! 😉👍
A great restoration Marty. I’m just about to do the same one. Same kind of condition. Covered in red and blue paint. I find that caustic soda cleans paint from plastic parts really well, without any damage to plastic parts. Love your restorations. Keep em coming. Cheers.
Thanks Marty.. I had this model when I was a kid.. White, with red interior.. The little lever on the side of mine was broken, so had to make do with the underneath slider.. A bully at school stole it from me 😔 I knew he had it.. But I never saw it again 😢
Marty, Great save on the suspension with the plastic. I think it’s better than new too! Also, a heat gun is a little safer than a torch if you’re trying to bend or straighten plastic. I use one for fixing warped walls when I’m building structures.
This was one of my favourite models and I seem to think that the radiator grille was white. In my child mind the steering tab was a machine gun (influenced by a Mr Bond) that the driver used to shoot any of his enemies in a drive past or as they overtook him.
Mostly I find Kevin's antics quite amusing, but the mindless vandalism grated today. Other then that, great video. Love the results you get. Keep it up!
I know you hit quite a few snags with this resto, but you brought back such childhood memories. This was one of my favorite toy cars as a child (the other was a HW red spectraflame '67 Camaro). I had this exact model, the white w/ red interior. Your ingenuity over adversity really shown thru in this build. It's amazing how a child can paint over the whole car twice, once with red, then yellow enamel paint & nothing happens. But you try to restore the car & the paint shrivels up the suspension piece. I guess the innocence of child creativity can suspend such things as chemical reactions and the laws of thermodynamics. lol. Enjoy your videos, as always Marty. Keep up the fun!
Looks great Marty ! The steering thing that pops out the side of the car would’ve had a circular end on it the same as the circle on the bottom of the piece

What a 'Classy' rebuilt of a classic Ford Mustang. Truly a work of art!!! Great job Marty!
Fantastic restoration. Well done and keeping an old vehicle alive!
I dont know how you resisted painting it red or giving it blue stripes. Marty, you're a man of integrity!
The newspaper headlines are a favorite part of mine. Thanks.
Boy Marty, Kevin is really getting out of hand! Loved the video. Nice recovery on the suspension bar. Rattle cans do strange things to plastic.

Lol the headline on the news paper, nice clean work on that casting 🔥🤘🏻
its nice that you care enough about them to re do the paint instead of just letting it go.

Great job Marty. Specially taking in consideration all the set backs...
Another great video, thanks. Good save on the suspension unit

Turned out nice, great job fixing the suspension and steering and the outtakes had me laughing 😂
Just received my crane and it's beautiful!!!! The box was an awesome touch!! Thank you Marty!!
The plastic wheels are chrome plated via a process called "vacuum metallization". it was all the rage until they invented spangly metallic plastics.
put the plastic in a vacuum chamber flash vaporize the metal with a huge current surge and the vaporous metal coats everything int he chamber
modelling companies like AMT and Revell still use vacuum metalizing for their chrome trees. once you've got the machine, it's a cheap process to add chrome to plastic.
