John Paul Young is a Scottish-born Australian pop singer who had this 1978 worldwide hit with "Love Is In The Air". He had some other songs such as "Standing In The Rain", "I Hate The Music", "Yesterday's Hero", "The Love Game", "Keep On Smilin'" etc.
This was the main theme to the movie Strictly Ballroom starring Paul Mercurio. Wonderful film!
Fabulous! Thank You. You both will like Lou Rawls. You'll Never find another love like mine.
It feels so weird to hear a song i haven't heard in years, took me right back to when i first heard it
You haven't heard it for years? Where are you from? Here in Australia I hear it constantly on the radio and films. JPY lives only minutes from my place
Thankyou guys for taking me back to HIGH school '78 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯❤️💯
OMG you did JPY!!! Huge huge hit here in Australia!!! Our Aussie boy from my teenage days. He actually lives minutes from me in Lake Macquarie NSW Australia. A hit machine and still doing gigs!
The song and the singer are beautiful!
Omg. I absolutely 💯 love this song. A big hit in the UK. Haven't heard it in a long time. Thank you for playing and reacting to it. ❤❤❤❤❤❤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yes. In Australia it was huge as you could imagine. I don't think there's an Aussie out there whom doesn't know this song. He actually lives only a few suburbs from me
This plays at the end of the Australian film, Strictly Ballroom. It is a fabulous movie!!!
Such a fun movie! I knew this was familiar.
Yes, I've seen it a few times. Paul Mercurio is great and he's a real Ballroom dancer
Was my mum favourite film saw it as a kid on Sky movies in early 90s. Good memories. Lovely song
@eviekelpie1 not a real ballroom dancer, a real contemporary dancer ( in 90s) principle dancer with Sydney dance company. And, yes, he's great.
The dance floor was full with lovers swaying and doing their best disco moves. Good memories.
Yes!!! Love it. Here in Australia, JPY (nicknamed "Squeak") was pretty much king of the 70's music scene. He had so so many great songs in that decade - Yesterday's Hero, I Hate the Music, Keep on Smiling, The Love Game, Where the Action Is, I Wanna Do It With You, The Painting, Pasadena etc, etc.
Takes me back to the Countdown days.
I am blessed by God. I was born in 1961 and I enjoyed these songs from the 70's, 80's, 90's... Here in my country, Brazil, "Love Is In The Air" was very successful. I really like your reactions. I'm a fan of the channel... Thank you.
Pre-disco. The tambourines shout, "Hippies. 1960s. Groovy."
Featured in the closing, dance scene of "Strictly Ballroom" (1992), a charming romance out of Australia.
I suspect, in their previous lives, Shawn and Mel were tie dye and patchouli wearing hippes
It’s a song that just makes you feel good!
Oh, this is one of my absolute favorites. They also revived its popularity when it was used in a movie called Strictly Ballroom. I was really young when I heard the song like in the single digits and I remember dancing around my room to the song because it was so poignant and hopeful and sweet.
Written by Angus Young eldest brother George and Harry Vanda from The Easybeats
It was definitely in the DJ mix on a lot of disco dance floors in 1978!
Its on my playlist...a great tune....love it. 👍
John Paul Young's best song was his first hit, "Yesterday's Hero" . . . you won't be disappointed
I've never heard this before great tune Mel your mile is infectious and I love you both your reactions are fun and upbeat ....smiles here y'all❤✌
I love this version also Lou Rawls did a remake to this and his is great too ♥️❤️
I love how uplifting the music of that era was.
Shout out from Sydney - thanks for doing a reaction to an Aussie icon - saw this guy in concert when I was just 9 years old … also just watched your Air Supply react - another national treasure not known very well outside of Australasia - I hope they get to see your video
I think Air Supply had many many more big hits in the US than in Australia, Except for 'Love & Other Bruises' which was probably their best ever song.
One of my favorite songs!!!!
Great choices, you guys.
Definitely one that is always played here in Australia 🤭
Australia 💕 Christina
Definitely! John lives a few suburbs from me in Lake Macquarie
@@eviekelpie1
That's cool 😎
Have you bumped into him 🤫
Australia 💕 Christina
@@christinalikoski4937 unfortunately not! Apparently he goes fishing around the lake lol. The lake is two and a half bigger than Sydney Harbour so I've got a fat chance 😂
@@eviekelpie1 🤭🤭🤭
Always love this song.
I had forgot this song , so many great songs that you forget some that you just loved hearing. such happy times and great music just meant to make you feel good. Thats why music then was so much better because it was always somthing to uplift

You guys are the real deal! Love you guys and your channel! Thank you!❤❤
There was an Australian band made up of immigrants who met at the Villawood Immigration centre. They were The Easybeats, and were called Australia's answer to the Beatles. They did a tour of Europe, came home and broke up, but the two song writers, Harry Vanda and George Young (brother of Angus and Malcolm from ACDC) wrote heaps of songs, so they came back to Australia and put out a few singles under the name Flash and the Pan. But they became producers, and produced many Australian singers/bands. They wrote this and many more JPY songs.
I recommend watching "Stickly Ballroom"! A brilliant movie!!!!
Love in the air is in the soundtrack!
Written by George Young brother of AC DCS Angus and Malcolm Young
JPY was their cousin!
Correct! I loved watching the doco about all these guys
IIRC this song had a lot of airplay, so much so I think it was parodied in some circles (lounge lizards). Kind of like "I love you, man"
Disco ! Bring it back!
His smile lights up the screen!! 💖
Play it at the end of any big night and it will blow everyone’s minds
Just one of the best happy songs ever :)
Oh memories from late 70s
Please react to yesterdays hero from him next

Yes love is in the air open your spiritual eyes
I 1000% love this song
If you watch the movie, Strictly Ballroom, this is the song at the end. It's all about Ballroom dancing competition
I most beautiful song
Love, in all its beautiful expressions, is the most powerful force in existence. It makes everything wonderful. Imagine what our little world would be like if all the hate were replaced with love.
Love Boat Theme??
No
Love Boat? I've never heard this in the Love boat
You should here "Yesterday's Hero". JPY hit it out of the park with this one. ✌
Try yesterday hello by him

This song was composed and produced by Harry Vanda and George Young. George Young was Angus Young's (ACDC,) eldest brother whom also was in a group called The Easybeats with Harry Vanda. They composed and produced many hits.
