The Wenlock Arms is a historic and beloved pub in London's East End with several interesting facts associated with it:
The pub has a long history, having first opened for business in 1787. This makes it over 235 years old, surviving through significant changes in London's landscape and culture.
It's located in Hoxton, halfway between Old Street and Angel, near the Regent's Canal. This location has likely contributed to its enduring popularity.
The Wenlock Arms is renowned for its cask ales. It has been named North London Pub of the Year by the local CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) branch four times since reopening in 1994.
The pub has a celebrity connection - David Beckham used to join his grandfather for drinks at the Wenlock Arms, even after he became a famous footballer.
It has appeared in popular culture, featuring in the opening titles of the TV show "Al Murray's Compete for the Meat" and serving as a filming location for Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's 2013 film "The World's End".
The Wenlock Arms faced potential demolition in 2010, but was saved after a vigorous campaign led by the local community and CAMRA. It reopened on June 3, 2013, after a period of closure.
The pub building, constructed in 1835, is a survivor of the wartime bombing of the area and retains a traditional pub interior.
It's known for its warm atmosphere, open fire, and simple but delicious snacks like hot cheese toasties.
The Wenlock Arms is now protected as part of a conservation area, following a decision by Hackney Council in December 2011.
These facts highlight the Wenlock Arms' historical significance, its importance to the local community, and its reputation as a quintessential London pub.

Just got back from an 8 day adventure through London pubs, sadly I didn't cross paths with Terry - probably a good thing because I do have a job to go back to in the states & honestly I'd probably extend my vacation. "This" is what I love about visiting the UK as well as N. Europe. I have met so many genuine, friendly and true to heart souls in Europe/UK that I feel so home here. I miss you all and bow down to the beautiful culture you all have contributed to the world.

It would be great if you could organise "an evening with Terry Miles" at these old pubs, I'm sure lots of your followers would come to meet you, plus it would be nice to see these pubs full again & it would benefit the pubs too.
Maybe he could organize a pub piano crawl. Have a group of fans meet and go to different pubs in an evening and drink and listen to Terry jam. Then the pubs can get some business from everyone while Terry plays.

Our local Pub (Duke of Edinburgh) in Cuppertino California used to have sing songs like this every Friday and Saturday with all the local Brits. It was great fun

I am trying to recall any old pub/bars in my area of Maryland and the only one I remember is The Horse you Came in on. We have a few around in Maryland that are around 200 years old.
I love the tours as I don't know much about England or the pub tradition. Love seeing the old places still around and of course hearing you tickle the keys on those old Joannas.

Used to drink in a pub in ladywell, the fox an firkin they had a bloke on the piano on a Saturday night, songsheets were handed out and people just sang along, like they would have done 70 or 80 years ago..fantastic atmosphere
