They have certainly been at Hellifield for about 15 years. They aren't DVT's but if my memory is correct they were Propelling control vehicles to allow TPO's to reverse into the distribution centre at Willesden. Just very minimaI controls, I had heard that West Coast bought them for the bogies and wheels.
They’ve been there for actually 21 years and yes you’re right about WCR wanting them for wheel sets and potentially vehicles they could store parts in. Withdrawn and stored at Hellifield in 2002…. Till around 2014 they were kept behind a thick hedge so vandals couldn’t get to them if I remember. Then WCR stupidly cut the hedge back giving vandals full access to the units. Surprised they were allowed to be towed by rail rather than lorry or scrapped on site. Shame on their condition and not being able to be restored. Other things that prevented restoration were cost and mostly the vehicles were covered in contaminated/disturbed asbestos.
It says in a certain railway mag this month that reports indicate that they are destined for movement to a preservation site. (Hope so) does anyone know more.
Did the move run as unfitted / un braked as pipes on first pcv behind lead loco secured in stowed location.. ..long way from Hellifield to carnforth at 25mph?😊
@@pacermanthefan Sad to see them go. I enjoyed being able to look around the PCVs and super BGs. Unique 90s refurbs sadly probably will just rot away at Carnforth and be sent to the chop.
Naaaa it was there for brake force, those coaches were swingers! we saw the train at Hellfield that day. 10mph, with rear loco as brake force @@ThePanzer6
Thanks ,in that case I need an opticians appointment, pity that rolling stock has been at Hellifield for so long that any preservation societies would think twice about purchasing it.
So whoever runs Hellifield station has finally asked them to move the eyesores then, to join all the other eyesores that WCR hoards at Carnforth but never seems to be interested in either doing anything with or scrapping
I'm surprised they were fit enough to move by rail and not scrapped on site
Sad to see them go like that. They'd make great DVTs on preserved railway lines that don't have run-around loops.

ex class 307 driving cars

Lovely ❤
Excellent video
Exellent catch😊
Nice video!
Great video ,Amazing Locomotives ❤These iconic units need preserving ,Take it this was early in the morning.?
Late at night 😔
Probably a good source of Mk1 spares for West Coast
2 of the ex Buxton / High Peak 37 batch still working!
Are those the old Mk1 EMU driving cabs from the 307 class?
Looks like Christmas has come early for 10A's carriage fitters.
No expense spared on the gift wrapping 🤭
All 10 to be stripped for parts, but it's mainly the bogies that will be saved. Something at least. JG.
Bloody hell
there filthy.

Up date, seems they have gone to the Embsay & Bolton Abbey steam railway, excellent news.
It's interesting that the old tpo coaches are still running I thought that many of them would be in storage of scraped
these are coming out of storage for wcrc to use for spares lol
The Last Post?
Only 5 coaches !! So there must be around move soon for the other coaches at some point!!
Great catch 👍
WOW GHOSTLY
Oh crap, GLV's! Hopefully they'll go into preservation!
PCV propelling control vehicles, no traction equipment and only fit for parts recovery. They've been left outside in all weathers for 15+ years
Bogie and wheel recovery, not a lot else worth keeping tbh, the Class 307 body is but a shell. Roller shutters might get kept
Shame none of them will be preserved, unique bit of history there
Northumbria Rail Ltd have one preserved which they hope to make serviceable at some point in the future.
I think the Mid Norfolk Railway has one too.
Last Mainline TPO run?

About 28 miles
@@AndreiTupolev yep at 25mph....zzzzzzzzz
10mph
I thought the exact same thing
They've been at Hellifield for as long as I remember, so they are gone at last, going to scrap?
State of those relics 😂
Wow! Finally got rid of all those rotting postal coaches from Hellifield have they? I’m surprised they were fit to move having been there so long.
Are they taking them all? I visited Hellifield earlier this year to check out the abandoned RES stock.
Would have thought so!
only these 5 moved so far

Were the brakes functional or was the loco on the rear acting as a brake van?
To save the loco from running round the stock during the movement

I thought all the PCV's had already been scrapped. Has anyone preserved one?
Northumbria Rail Ltd have the EWS liveried one stored on a private site. The long term ambition will be to make it serviceable again.
What were things in the middle of the 37s
Former class 307 multiple units (C.1955) that were later converted into parcels trains for Royal Mail. They haven't seen use for around 20 years now.
propelling control vehicle (PCV)
Wonder what the sparks were under first carriage ,first bogie nearest to engine
I think it's just reflections of the station lights on the sleepers
Thanks ,in that case I need an opticians appointment, pity that rolling stock has been at Hellifield for so long that any preservation societies would think twice about purchasing it.
So are they for scrap or preservation?
Weren't locals complaining about them being there to council? Though it's a siding for trains and trains were in there!
Unsure
Don’t scrap those coaches they look lovely they need to be restored
So whoever runs Hellifield station has finally asked them to move the eyesores then, to join all the other eyesores that WCR hoards at Carnforth but never seems to be interested in either doing anything with or scrapping
They are a supply of spare parts, it's far easier to find the spares when still bolted in place.
Carnforth has had a big clear out with a lot going for scrap .WCR Will scrap things before selling it to anyone else.
Excellent video
