The sequence at 1:25 has sublime timing. That was *so* close to having a video of the Royal Scot ruined by some EMU or other, but as it actually happened was a perfect sequence. Great video!!
The steam tour turned out few minutes earlier than planned; I was lucky I turned my camera on and started walking towards the middle of the platform, planning to film with the phone as well; some other guys on the other platform didn't catch it as they weren't ready for it to come early; I believe this station is cursed though 😂😂; last year another shot almost ruined, check this out ruclips.net/video/FfIQkZMjju8/видео.html
That second clip, the 225... It's stayed with me for 40 odd years, the mix of emotions when a train thunders past. Admiration. Excitement. Terror. Anxiety. Intruige. Just epic.
These trains really put the American railroads to shame. Even steam, 50+ year old diesels, and boxy commuter trains are faster than a lot of the US services.
UK train services excluding the HS1 only go between 70 to 135 mph. In the US, the majority of all passenger rail hits 80 to 90mph max, with some hitting 100 to 110mph. The Northeast Corridor and Brightline in Florida is really the only places you'll see trains go 125 and above. Otherwise, both sides are basically the same speed wise. The Northeast corridor would just be the United States HS1 just with infrastructure issues.
@@blackking7512yeah thats true but if you think about it the uk has a much more dense population so its obvious that trains will stop more often, hence the lower avarage speeds. Jn america most cities/settlements are ages away from eachother
@@blackking7512not to mention that the uk has 5 mainlines wheres trains can and will reach 125 mph for vast stretches of the country where even regional trains reach 100-110 mph
Nothing beats the buzz of opening up my British Rail map in the morning and deciding where I'm going to go to today. I spend days on the trains in England when I'm there.
Great video and storming action. Makes it obvious that station warnings are given too late often when the train is seconds away or even into to the station
I totally agree. They are always reminding me of good old British Rail in the 80s and 90s. Probably class 91 is the final characteristically British looking loco built.
Just found this video. One thing strikes me quite forcefully as an ex BR man myself. The warning announcements are so slow the train is well along the platform before they are finished. Great show of just how dangerous high speed trains are today. Excellent 👍👍👍👍👍
Great compilation!. Excellent captures, very fast trains..... Impressive race between the old passenger train and the modern unit (1:30), awesome steam locomotive, wowwwww, explosive!!!!. Thanks RailwayVideos for sharing.
Ah, this brings me back. I loved watching those Intercity Class 91s thundering down the Great Eastern on their way to Liverpool Street. It's almost a shame they're being phased out now.
I love to watch the trains speed through my local ECML station Grantham, it’s just a noise, wind & a splash of colour. By the way I managed to reckonise them all too, not bad for a beginner trainspotter😊
For its infrastructure and technology, the UK's got some good trains. Hopefully the government will invest into some high speed rail and get it up in the competition next to Germany and France.
Thanks for watching; they are working on HS2 now, that is meant to have trains running at 360km/h but the cost went to almost double from the initial cost and expected to keep rising; they are actually thinking to pause the works
I was at Kidsgrove Station a few weeks ago. An Avanti sped through. And a minute later the announcement that the train was approaching sounded. A bit late...
@RailwayVideos Cheers, had a look on maps myself and had a cycle down there yesterday - a bit of a tricky ride, but the location is good. Again quality video.
@@class43tom if you manage to stick your camera through the fence, you get great shots(myself I'm using a handyman so I'm not worried of it falling off my hand behind the fence 🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽) there is good view also from the footbridge
Great to see these steam flying machines at full speed steaming away on the mainline + the blue intercity flying machine and other modern and old-school loco's great filming and video 🤩😍🥰😎
@@RailwayVideos. privatization of Canadian National railway trackage in the 1990's has resulted in a 10mph reduction in top speed on expresses (from 100 to 90 mph) mainly because of track deterioration and line congestion.I expect the planned 125 mph new lines to go as well as HS2
It looks like the steam train was going faster, but I will say what i saw and that is that the steam train had a steady gap on the modern train and that the modern train didnt appear to be gaining on steam train
