I had no idea they had a Gemran diesel! I'm glad you were able to see two steam locomotives fired up, but I'm disappointed the public can't visit the steam engines at this site anymore
Brilliant and informative. I've swoped locos here many times in recent years, and was fortunate to visit 10A many times all throughout the 1960s. Thanks for sharing
Wow love this. Was lucky enough to visit the town of Carnforth this year. Took a look round the station and rode the train to Grange. Good to see all this from the air. Thanks for posting this.
Fantastic - I take Harry’s point about the Livery, but when they are all Squeaky Clean n Shiny I think they Look Fab. Great to see these shots from above, and makes Straight away think about building a New Layout 😅 Gr8 Vid Many thanks 👍🏻
They used to do organised depot visits here but WCR put an end to that after photos were shared online when people were specifically told to only take photos for themselves
I didn't realise WCR had so many 37s & 47s. There must be at least a dozen that look serviceable and a similar number stored for spares. I think I spotted at 57 too, plus a class 14, not to mention the 2 steam locos. Super video.
There used to be a couple of little industrial tank engines in the shed that belonged to the guy who owns Leander. I don't know if they're still there mind.
Loved the video. Gave a different perspective on the MPD. Been round the depot twice, the last time 11th September 2021. All visitations are banned now as an individual released photos of stock on hand, despite everyone being told photos are for personal use or authorized group sharing
What was the reason for photos being for personal use only and what are the "authorised group sharing". Is he running a tax scam or something or doesn't he like anyone making money out of them unless its him? or is that the place looks like a health and safety hazard.
Blimey! Did I see West Coast have painted two 57's in BR Green? There's still quite a row of withdrawn locos. I see 47355 ex Fragonset is still there.....wonder how much is left inside of that one now and also Advenza Freights 57 too. One of those places I'd love to visit but hear that a recently group visit that didn't go well has scuppered any future depot visits.......shame.
It's a disgrace that the shed signal Box now appears to be on the point of collapse. As I understand it is a scheduled building. It was in a bad way in the 1970's when I worked at Carnforth. It now looks as if it could collapse at any moment.
Another lovely video well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
@@trainsplanes would be good to see a new one made and see if any action is going on at 10A shed. Chance to see if anything is on test or in steam outside.
Mr. Smiths stock rich yard. I am now a fan of Unicorn Heads Stellar winds music, after watching most of your videos. How about fly over or by of Eastern Rail Services sidings at Great Yaremouth in the future?
Great video shame 37s are not out much uve never seen them on railtours but i bet its a nightmare shunting all the carriages and locos in the right place, including the steam locos
Wonderful 👍 Much rather see them in that livery than BR blue 🤢🤮 which I detest. I'm old enough to remember green and maroon diesels though especially the Hymeks, Warships & Westerns. The only good blue was the Blue Pullmans, lucky enough to have 2 pass me near Reading in about 1965.
5:38 shame to see all of those abandoned locos just sitting there. That class 37 looks like its been through a very rough time. I also love 08 shunters shame to see that sitting next to the 37 still in its EWS livery. Great video and tour of the yard anyway 👍 Considering A company that does lots of railtours, you thought they would take better care of all of there trains and their site as some of it looks overgrown 😢
@@trainsplanesYes I can agree with you on that one. They will probably go to scrap eventually, once West Coast Railways don't want any more parts of them. Probably Will cost too much money to put them back into mainline condition, that's money that they don't have. Sadly, they will rot away
People misunderstand the name "Steamtown". That's what it used to be called, not any more. Now it's just as much a diesel as a steam depot. Hope this helps
Bit of a shame to see a lot of the stock in this state, shame you can’t go in and walk around like you used to, health and safety 🙄. Does look a lot tidier now since they’ve been scrapping locos and stock on the quiet
6:20I like how there's a boiler just casually dumped there. "Now i know i put it somewhere... now where did ... ah, there it is." I wonder what that's from
What a dump! Grass everywhere , buildings in poor condition, its a disgrace to the nation. Looks like it is ran on a shoestring budget. No wonder they dont do open days now. I remember when it was a great place to visit. Great video, thanks for posting.
@@harrycummings6501 Agreed regarding gbrf livery, but not the others. Each to their own, but I’ll stick by my liking for maroon livery, especially the 37’s & 47’s. I vaguely remember (as a kid in the early 70’s) some 42’s & 52’s in maroon, maybe the nostalgia is swaying me !
WCR doing their best DB Toton impression with that scrap line

There's also 2 Crompton's(class 33s) as well
I cannot see a Class 14 there? only an industrial shunter, and a Class 08....or 3

@@michaelward2082 It LOOKED like a class 14, but I'm sure you're right. I'll play the video again when I get a chance.
They have quite a number of 57s now, um, nine operational or technically so

I'm shocked 47768 hasn't been scrapped yet things knackered wicked footage didn't know exactly the layout of the depot
Great video👍
It's sad to see how neglected everything is now It was a great place to visit years ago

Lovely view of Carnforth Steam town wonder if any of those Locos which has been there for ages will ever move again

I like the idea of a two-tone green Class 57

Got a lot of stuff there. Only thing missing is a couple of HST and APT
They’re in Crewe
There seems to be locomotive parts and tyres on pallets

Yep, I got the impression the owners are waiting for it to collapse so they can clear the remains out of the way
Coaling and ash towers don't look too healthy either. If they get the dreaded concrete 'cancer' its curtains
Had a tour a few years ago and was told that the listing actually makes repairing the signal box and towers more difficult.
