It couldn’t decide whether to be serious or not. I agree with your review. The movie seemed so disjointed, like they were just coming up with ideas on the fly. It had potential, but it’s a miss.
Agreed about the creepy stuff. I thought it was really well done! It’s almost as if the director said, “hey, sometimes I want you to actually use your acting skills, and then every now and then I want you to be really bad.” The way you described it was perfect…the disjointedness made it feel AI generated!
Random title. Random characters. Random horror tropes. Random ending. The end. Oh...random credits scene. Dialog and situations written by a middle schooler.
The ending leaves viewers questioning the nature of reality and the existence of the creatures. Were they manifestations of the characters' fears, or something more sinister? The final moments linger on the broken friendships and the disturbing notion that even those closest to us can become strangers in times of crisis.
Fun fact, the movie is for some reason still called Blue Light on at least the Dutch version of Prime Video. I think I actually prefer this name, since the title was basically the only thing that grabbed my attention about this movie. Don't Turn Out The Lights is such a generic name imo
I was deeply annoyed by the characters, which in the beginning kind of had some interesting aspects, but as they got picked off one by one, and ever so stupidly, it just pissed me off. It seems like the movie was interested in throwing things at you which ultimately remained open-ended, and just plain inconclusive, making you feel like what was the point of that for most of the film. And perhaps I could've overlooked those story and character flaws if the movie bothered to explain itself at all. What the fuck was killing them? Why is it called Blue Lights and Don't Turn Off The Lights, if the lights didn't protect them? Why wasn't there any grounding, such as what is the creature/entity, and how to combat it, or even defend against it? And what the fuck happened at the end of the movie?
Movie was weird watched it today it wasnt terrible I guess but i didn't like the ending was that girl even real ? I mean you couldn't see her in the tv idk i felt super confused by the end and was just like what was they going for here
I thought it said it was demons because they stole the RV which belonged to Satan or some nonsense like that. They said it after the Alien story and the witch story.
The movie to me is just some demonic stuff happening with that van since his uncle has all those demon books and items I just think they were cursed that's why they died of course it is just my interpretation that the only logical answer I can say about the movie at first I thought it was a wendigo or a skinwalker but it's not that so it would be the first answer I said hmmm I also think they could of survive if they just all stick together and wait until mornings the demon wanted to scare them trick them into going out and kill them one by one wait until morning then get out altogether would have been there biggest chance at living but they all panic giving the situation it is reasonable if the military guy was still alive i believe he would have kept everyone calm as possibly andIi believe that's why they kill him 2 so the movie doesn't go down that path possibly it's only my conjecture
I thought the same thing as you, that girl looked EXACTLY like Anya Taylor-Joy. 😂😂 There were a lot of things in the movie that were irrelevant to the story. Even the satanic books that were in there, well that wasn’t relevant to what was happening if you consider the white car from the beginning that you’re supposed to assume the owners suffered the same fate. And the end was a let down.
Just finished watching on Hulu and the concept was there, but the execution was lacking. It truly was all over the place with it being good then bad then good then bad. I truly get why Kali walked away 🤣Usually for me, things have to be absolutely atrocious in the first five or ten minutes for me to walk away. This wasn't the case here. I usually love the whole '5-7 friends end up getting haunted by some mysterious force' schtick in movies like in Polaroid and Tarot, but the haunting bit in here was too loose and/or nonexistent for me to really care by the end. If they wanted to make an almost two hour movie, they should have incorporated SOME form of background on what the mysterious thing that haunts people in this particular part of the country is. Otherwise, that part of the movie seems completely unnecessary to me and like you said, could have taken a good 15 to 20 minutes out with the haunting bits. Or at the very least, actually had someone physically of this world try and kill them.
Spoilers: I like the way that all of the deaths are pretty much based on what each characters fear. I had speculated skin walkers, Flatwoods-type aliens and the devil, and that's what the movie portrays the deaths as. After watching it, it's not so much about what causes the deaths, it's more about the line that gets repeated at the end: "Why would people just leave their car on the side of the road like that?" Here's a mixed batch of friends with a goal in mind, just trying to go do something fun and celebrate together. The point is to let go of differences, troubles and trauma, don't let it stop you from going from where you want to go; don't abandon the path you want for yourself. Could it be some supernatural phenomenon behind it all? Maybe. It had some pretty good scares I think and kept you wondering more than a lot of horror movies.
I dont understand the movie and thought foundflix would have a video about it haha. The movie scared me just because it reminds me of like mimics and skinwalkers. I'm just confused as to what it was, mimics and skinwalkers or satanic?? Lmao like the weird shit in the rv and the fact that there are satanic books. I'm guessing the uncle put a curse on it bc it was stolen..? I just don't know 😅
THATS exactly why I hate this movie, and i'm forgiving, but this piece of garbage gave us no answers and a ton of questions. As a writer, my first task is to create a cause and effect set of events. If the writers was leaving a trail of breadcrumbs they did a poor job of communicating the outcome
And then she's like ok y'all, let's pack this whole thing up. But then none of the stuff makes it in the truck. Also, they all just walked? Where are their cars? Like wtf?
The omly twist, shock or surprise I get from today's films is that I was right about how a story ends in the very beginning; EVERY F'ng TIME!(cuzz they're all same!😂).
Do yourself a favor, and don't prove yourself right. Movies, most anyway, not just horror genre, are simple-minded and are built on cliches and smoke and mirrors instead of any intelligent writing, world-building, and characterization. I'm working on a comic book, and its far from a predictable approach. fact is, writers don't have an edge, they're just lazy, and stupid audiences that can't properly evaluate half the content they play or watch only gives them more fuel to keep making laughably predictable trash. This movie was more or less incoherent, and I've finally drawn the last straw
This movie started out annoying but actually got better as it went on. I ended up enjoying it despite the fact that it never explained what the "entity" was or give us any real closure. Plus, the credits scene ends with some mysterious person eating a sandwich and then plops a photo down of something I can't make out but I hoped it would explain something but of course didn't. But yea that opened scene was weird and I was asking the same question about the birthday party setup. Plus why were there not bugs and stuff all over the snacks? Unless she had the place sprayed but why do all that if you're just gonna have it out for a few minutes? Why have it all laid out pretty as if it WASN'T gonna be out for just a few minutes? Anyway, I'm with you that I did enjoy the horror stuff and did like the main girl Carrie. She was just super cute looking 😍
It became EXTREMELY UNBELIEVABLE when the token Black guy who HAS TO die first in horror movies 🙄, goes off investigating a strange noise it a pitch black forest with a small flashlight. That would NEVER HAPPEN in reality. Thats y'alls ⚪️ folks methodology. 😂
First time here. Got to say, loved the review/video. This movie was on my radar and I just now finished it.....kind of let down by it. Everything you said about this movie, I thought the same thing. Yes, the opening party set up scene made no sense but didnt effect me. The ending was very much a let down. This movie is a pass unless you can find it for free. The gore/horror stuff is great and I would watch another movie from the people who made this.
Yes she does look exactly like Anya! I just finished this movie a few minutes ago and I wish we had more information - like who were these “friends” the last girl got the tattoo with and where that black book came from. I agree with your review.
It was a garbage movie. I was excited at first when stuff started going down thinking it would be a windego or something but then several other things happened that made zero sense. It was so all over the place. The only thing i liked was the casting for the black actress.

I was so confused with this movie that I came to RUclips so maybe someone can explain it cuz thisovie was just everywhere that it doesn't make sense
its pretty much what you see is what you get
Me too 😂
It couldn’t decide whether to be serious or not.

I hate when movies have the characters tell you who and how they are instead of letting it work out naturally. I’m sick of tardy asf movie writers
Yiur review is spot on! Stupid esp ending he messed those kids careers up they did some great acting they saved it!
Whats with sandwich and remote in post credit scene? Lol i was o confused.

What is the horror aspect of this film?
Monsters? Killers? Demons? Paranormal?
