absolute legend, love to see when creators recognise others like this well done on your creation of GREYLOCK, genuinely some fantastic spine chilling content.
as a horror artist, the abomination that charlotte and the dogs turned into is amazing, so glad you mentioned "the thing" its exactly what i thought about!
@@FoxyPercival714 it isn't really explained what happened but the most accepted theory (I think) was to mock both Jim and Charlotte (Charlotte because she was killed by the very same thing she wanted to protect, and jim because his daughter transformed in an abomination.)
after watching it, I googled 3D models people have made or uploaded of the Kennel Dog Thing from John Carpenter's original film and I firmly believe that the creator of Greylock had a Blender file or something similiar open, and they used clever camera magic to hide and make look natural his unique model of Charlotte, and the fan-made model recreating the movie character/prop. I only say this because comparing the Kennel Dog from The Thing looks identical to this dog abomination with several heads.
It's a testament to the guys working on Greylock and their skills that I both cannot tell how much of that effect was CGI or practical and that frankly I didn't even care at the time. It looked incredible. Rob Bottin would be impressed.
As someone studying anatomy I noticed a lot of references to dog anatomy in the Charlotte part of the thing. Dog-like teeth, the pointed ears, the eyes reflecting light (something human eyes don’t do, animal eyes often do this however) and the hand in the light being halfway between the structure of a human hand and a dog’s forelimb, so many clever things!
"I think my skin is moving". Emphasis on "THINK". It's like these thoughtforms can only really attack when your thoughts tell you that they pose a danger to you. "It probably is just as blinded as you are" was actually true, BECAUSE the security man said that sentence, making Melgren actually believe that the creature couldn't see and so it actually couldn't. This would align with the idea of thought manifestation present throughout the series. To give an example: Say you have two items: 1) An expanse of green grass 2) The sentence: "Grass is green" If I ask you "Is the sentence "grass is green" true because you can see the field of green grass, or is the grass green because the sentence "Grass is green" is true?", the answer seems obvious: Item 2 is true because item 1 is true, not the other way around. Here, the causal chain is flipped on its head. Here the case is as follows: "The sentence "The creature can't see in the dark" is not true because the creature is actually not able to see in the dark. The creature can't see in the dark because of the sentence (or idea, a THOUGHT) "The creature can't see in the dark". To add to this, the creature would seemingly be able to attack at any point, right? So why wait until "her skin is moving"? For the same reason that one thoughtform in that little girl's bedroom did not attack immediately: The victim must first PERCEIVE or THINK of the thoughtform as real to be able to be toyed with, and must be thought of as dangerous so that it actually CAN be dangerous
@@condorcaruthers2327 Rewatched it a few times and it still gets me. Then that horrifying scene the cop finds. I still can't imagine why, whatever that fucking thing was, did that.
I had a different take on it. It looked like he was seeing things on video he couldn't explain and couldn't believe himself, his equipment was already unreliable (multiple errors and corrupted files), and he had already been chastised by Charlotte for having so many false alarms. So do you call it out right away and risk being wrong and freaking out the customer and looking crazy and unhinged, or do you wait a minute to gather more evidence and confirm what you're seeing? It looks like Troy did the latter, and it wasn't until Charlotte reported odd behavior with her dogs and he saw the current feed of the creature going through the door that he had enough certainty to call it out. But by then it was too late.
The fact that prior employees likely ignored the things, and he sounded somewhat calm over the call is extremely suspicious, not to mention that he warned her not to let anything scratch her
Tiffany’s Therapist when she was younger had her imagine an open a nonexistent door with some kind of malevolent entity behind it. Kind of like what the tape implies exists in all people. My guess is that whatever Tiffany woke up got to take control when she died
THATS IT!!!! “love contorts her flesh and bone” 7:05 SHE GOT FUSED/HER FLESH AND BONE CONTORTED BECAUSE OF HER LOVE FOR HER DOGS!!!!! (That was probably really obvious but I’m so happy for noticing that)
Ikr, I'm watching these videos cause it makes me feel like I'm not alone and also whenever he starts talking after showing a short clip the tension passes. I couldn't watch tens of minutes from this, maybe if only the very bottom of the screen is visible ;D
This is honestly one of the scariest concepts I have ever heard. I have thought of some f*cked up stuff and if that spawned in when I died it'd be game over.
actually she's not dead. if you look you can see her gasping and her chest is heaving, indicating that she is still alive and probably wishing she was dead.
While horrifying in its presentation, Greylock is inspiring for what kinds of stories and experiences can be carried through this analog way of telling stories. I specifically love the idea and sensation that you're simply viewing through a lens of someone unlucky enough to live in that version of reality. It transcends story telling and I can't wait for what this inspires.
that’s a really cool way of looking about it…..I hadnt thought of it like that before. greylock is basically like watching leaked tapes from a person (or people) from that timeline but there’s no telling who……. Like mostly people think it’s Jim melgren which makes total sense….. I’ve seen other series do the whole “these are some tapes I found in my attic” type thing thing before which is similar but I don’t know that just kind of gives away some of the unknown which makes it less scary but also we’ve got two tapes (I think?) that address Jim directly, as if they knew at the time that he was gathering data or would end up gathering it at some other point if they didn’t scare him off yknow?…… do you think Greylock is the only series with this vibe or do you know if other series that do it?….. Again that’s a really great perspective on this!
Honestly, I think the "Tall Creature" is pretty much identified now. That Babadook looking guy in the training tapes is tall, and has similar hands to the thing seen in the security footage. There's also that moment where glowing eyes are visible, and the Babadook in the training tapes also has glowing eyes, which implies to me that they're the same thing.
I haven’t watched many of these, but so far they seem to mention Carl Jung’s ‘a persons shadow’ “Jung explained that the shadow is a cognitive blind spot of our psyche, an undercurrent of who we are that we're completely unaware of; it's an element of our own nature that exists in our unconscious and is made from our repressed desire, ideas, instincts, weaknesses, and shortcomings”. And “The goal of shadow work is to assimilate the shadow and the persona so that a person can learn how to manage impulses they usually ignore, such as anger or greed”
yeah the shadow maintains all of the socially unacceptable things we want to do or would have an impulse to do. it’s the darkest parts of us and if we repress it then it just gets way worse which I honestly believe is why so many “Positivity all the time!!!” and “smile more!” and these GRWM influencers and stuff all turn out to be horrible people when they get exposed……. Because they tried to pretend like their shadow wasn’t a thing but they learned the hard way that the only way out is through
YES! Finally, someone else is talking about this. I feel like Jungian Psychology has a very heavy hand in Greylock. Especially since it was name dropped early on in the series and has increasing relevancy with this latest video. More people need to be talking about the connections between them.
@@xXSamir44Xx You are correct my good friend. However, I was specifically making a humorous reference to the hit Japanese role-playing game 'Persona 5' due to the fact that of all the games in the hit series 'Persona,' which is an offshoot of the 'Shin Megami Tensei' series, Persona 5 leans most heavily into the Jungian Psychology aspect, at least in my humble opinion. I love how Greylock single handedly sets a new standard for Analog Horror, when people said that the genre was dead when the series originally came out lmao. It's great that Greylock isn't afraid to show some really fucked up shit, and i pray that we get to see more of this kind of stuff. I recently got into classic creepypasta stories, like Penpal and Borrasca, and i want people to convey into video what i've felt while reading these stories: Genuine terror and disgust. I want them to draw something more out of me, that doesn't boil down to a quick scare. I want something that sticks with me, that makes me sick to my stomach.
Wendigoon reignited a spark in me to watch and look into more analog horror and creep cast reignited my spark into creepy pasta. I'm so glad I found this channel to pursue more horror and I'm happy to see others enjoying it, too.
The Tf-2 tape freaked me out more than any other analog horror thing I've seen Something I love about it is that it seems to deal with the jungian concept of the shadow psyche That shadowy figure that slowly approaches you during the tape is supposed to represent your shadow. You are using the tape to bridge your conscious and subconscious mind, which is why when the figure finally approaches you and you see it's face, that's when the system activated the subliminal bridge. That thing wasn't a ghost or thoughtform possessing the tape, it's literally part of the viewer's mind made physical.
Literally brought back some “the thing” ptsd I never felt in forever. The latest most disturbing moment to watch. I can feel the fear coming inside of me

My brain edited in the joke about the tape being named "TF-2" at the same time you also put it there, which led to a transparent Heavy being on screen at the same time "POOTIS!" played in my head. Quite the experience, 10/10
That poor woman and those poor puppies 🥺🥺🥺 I feel so bad for them. It looked so gruesome and painful... I know it's not real, but I'm so invested in these characters that I don't want anything bad to happen to them.
holy jesus, that t h i n g with charlotte is so incredibly well made. that takes a lot of effort to make something like that. in all forms like cgi or some straight up physical stuff, greylock team is fucking amazing. also this has some incredibly well made sound effects. the sound the officer heard when he went down stairs was fucking terrifying
I would just like to point out one of the people working on Greylock is Rob Gavagan (formerly Rob Dyke) who is no stranger to horror and terrifying subject matter. If you enjoyed Greylock i think you'd find his other videos intriguing though they're more of documentaries than fiction.
Wait, didn’t it come out more recently that he’s kind of a garbage person? Something about being a jerk to anyone that works for/with him and that he’s been harassing women…
That abomination sequence was masterfully done. There's so many little details on the thing you might otherwise miss on a first viewing. The creators really raised the bar with this one. It's also pretty sad that this was how "her love contorts her flesh and bone". Neither her or those dogs deserved such a fate
1:54 THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING WHEN IT SAID TO INSERT TF-2 💀 Man, even Greylock can count to 3 but Valve? Nah, man, 3 isn't even in their fucking *vocabulary.*
not much of an analogue horror guy anymore but the effects used in this series are like seriously amazing lmao wish more shows like this had the balls to get REALLY graphic with it
The thing that I like about the tape is that, if you pay close attention, you realise the tampering WAY before the tape warns you about it. Look at the first slide with the name and then compare it with Alex' tape from episode 3. Notice something?
hey 4 plus, i just want to say i love your content and that you should keep up the good work. your stuff helped me through some tough times so its comforting to watch your videos. :)
The “shadow entity” might be referring to Carl Jung shadow To quote him “The shadow is a living part of the personality and therefore wants to live with it in some form. It cannot be argued out of existence or rationalized into harmlessness.”
Hey, i know its all about the horror and all, but imagine COD zombies like game but with those creatures as our enemies, mutating and adapting to the changing map geometry on the fly. Horror monsters would be much harder and epic to fight than just a horde.
this was one of my favorite series you’ve covered ! if you haven’t checked out “children under the house” , it’s a phenomenal analog horror series , i’d love to hear u talk about it!
The whole security system scene and the very end when he finds what’s down there is probably one of the best horror scenes I’ve ever watched. They really out did themselves on this series and it was amazing.
Troy is maybe not seeing what we see. He thinks something is wrong but the video is not working. He tells her to get out when he sees it. But he is not seeing all of it. In the moment. It clears up too late for him to warn her.
I’m thankful that I’m watching you instead of the raw footage from the channel. I’m simply not built to watch something like that and successfully put together a coherent chronology and explanation. Your hard work is appreciated….
I loved the scene with the security company operator watching the past recordings while on the phone with Charlotte. I could feel the tension with him seeing something so horrific but something he couldn't explain and trying to balance urging caution while also not scaring her or sounding crazy. The voice acting and the way the whole scene was shot was brilliant. Has anyone ever done a scene like that in a horror film before?
The Parasite (Greylock) is no match for man if he is well organised, eluding to our main man who has survived everything, so in the end he is going to overcome Greylock and probably figure it all out.
That last bit of footage of the creature wasn't live footage, it was the alarm of that night. The creature was in the building WHILE she went to check on her dogs, and it didnt do anything until after Charlotte was told to gtfo. That sequence was terrifying, and I love it.
Its like if that one episode from fullmetal alchemist ended really really badly and nina didn't become a chimera but instead of turning into a creepy looking dog she turned into an eldrich being from hell itself
My theory is the masked creature seen towards the beginning of the series and the creature are the same entity. My suspicion is that the original ceremony site was a Tulpa created by these ancient civilizations and worshipped as a deity. Centuries later, the cult still exists and excavated the original site. This thoughtform is far more developed and enhanced from the centuries of focused worship by the cult, but unfortunately could not be tamed when released. I think its also directly responsible for the physical alterations made by the victims. The excavation crew were turned into monsters due to their proximity (and possibly to defend the site from further damage). I think that when the cult began its practice of trying to systematically create thoughtforms they inadvertently made the subjects beacons for the creature. This would explain why the Tulpa chose to observe the dog kennel over the course of multiple days instead of outright attacking. I do like the theory that the shadow figure we see approaching us in the TF-02 tape is our own thought form, which makes sense as we first need to initiate its manifestation in our mind, and it approaches as it gets stronger. I think that once that subliminal bridge is connected, the Tulpa senses and begins to hunt down the target. The only other victim we really see as a direct attack by the Tulpa (back when it bursts through the closet doors and attacks towards the start of the series), and when the attack happens we don't actually see the remains of the victim (which could've been another abomination).
I think that skinless creature is the tall man, because it looks really tall, and we can infer its that mask face thing because we never get a good look at its face, so it can be that mask like face can be its face
"well it was easy until we were presented with this facial expression that I have never seen someone do in my life, and if I did I'd be pretty upset" at 9:18 cracked me up
Man! You did an awesome breakdown of this series. There are things I totally missed that you bridged together for me. Three out of Five Stars... Wouldn't change a thing. lol
i made the mistake of watching this at night, with very immersive headphones, on a giant monitor. while i was watching the part where charlotte went into the shelter with the creature i swear i saw the creature in the corner of my eyes multiple times 😭 scariest shit ever
So I’ve been watching these tapes recently, and I think you’re off in some directions. Tiffany’s morgue experience is BEFORE Alex could even have Tape 1; she died back in 1987. The tapes are copyrighted 1993, so it isn’t possible for Alex to have it before then. He may have been chosen for Unit 13 due to the incident with Tiffany after the morgue, since he may have been showing to be quite able to create Thoughtforms. To add, tape 2 has been clearly edited to have Charlotte’s name added onto it. The first tape for Alex doesn’t have those weird, black boxes on it like tape 2. So there’s some possible toying with evidence too.

6:50 Personally I picked hiding because it's the only one that implies safety/protection from frightening stimuli!
5:00 GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD GET OUT OF MY HEAD

DID YOU EAT A TREAT ⁉️⁉️⁉️
Good dog-human hybrid 😊
Imagine if you could just throw a frisbee or a ball at this thing
CCTV of him eating a treat:
DID YOU EAT A TREAT⁉🔥
My brain edited in the joke about the tape being named "TF-2" at the same time you also put it there, which led to a transparent Heavy being on screen at the same time "POOTIS!" played in my head. Quite the experience, 10/10
I also thought of that
POOTIS
*POOTIS ENGAGE*
@@jacaredosvudu1638 sex
*POOTIS POW*
The art direction is really good. Also Team Fortress 2 as a plot point is a strange but welcome twist
I’m so impressed by how they made the charlotte dog hybrid so realistic, truly the best performance I’ve ever seen in an analog horror series
That poor woman and those poor puppies 🥺🥺🥺
I feel so bad for them. It looked so gruesome and painful...
I know it's not real, but I'm so invested in these characters that I don't want anything bad to happen to them.
holy jesus, that t h i n g with charlotte is so incredibly well made. that takes a lot of effort to make something like that. in all forms like cgi or some straight up physical stuff, greylock team is fucking amazing. also this has some incredibly well made sound effects. the sound the officer heard when he went down stairs was fucking terrifying
that scene with charlotte and the dogs almost made me puke, that was actually scary as hell
@@ProfessorEyebot
I wasn't aware of this. Where did you hear this?
That abomination sequence was masterfully done. There's so many little details on the thing you might otherwise miss on a first viewing. The creators really raised the bar with this one.
It's also pretty sad that this was how "her love contorts her flesh and bone". Neither her or those dogs deserved such a fate
me watching my friend skull get turned to jelly after I jokingly turned off his headset:
Maaan I hate when that happens
the instructions for the TF-2 tape sounds like an old screamer video’s description trying to trick you before the jumpscare
This episode was really good. The scream was actually so well done that it made me legitimately uncomfortable when listening back to it a few times.
Damn graylock did gore better than urban spook, that thing was creepy
Right before the body cam footage stops, if you slow it down enough and look at every frame, you can see that the officer is dragged away as well.
1:54 THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING WHEN IT SAID TO INSERT TF-2 💀
Man, even Greylock can count to 3 but Valve? Nah, man, 3 isn't even in their fucking *vocabulary.*
4:58 well this did not age well (from the screen,to the ring,to the pen,to the king.)
That’s some John Carpenter’s The Thing level shit right there.
not much of an analogue horror guy anymore but the effects used in this series are like seriously amazing lmao wish more shows like this had the balls to get REALLY graphic with it
“…And then to insert TF-2”
My ass: Tf2? TF2? WHAAHHU (has a seizure*)
TF2 MENTIONED, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE 💥💥💥💥
TF2 AHHHHHHH (I'm a sniper main)
Put dispenser here
“Ayyy, me bottle’ of skrumpe- AAH-“ (explodes*)
Sniper: HEHAHAH- (Suddenly collapses*)
WE ARE ZHE ZAME BRAIN CHELLS! I'M A MEDIC MAIN
3:04 holy shit
Team Fortress 2 theme intensifies
The thing that I like about the tape is that, if you pay close attention, you realise the tampering WAY before the tape warns you about it. Look at the first slide with the name and then compare it with Alex' tape from episode 3. Notice something?
The voice acting is very well done. It can make or break a series.
The quality of Greylock is sooo high, amazing!
Your editing is phenomenal. The additions you add always make me giggle and it makes watching videos like this really engaging
Charlotte is asleep when the alarm goes off. She already done the tapes they show.
She has to get dressed to check on the dogs.
The secret tunnels are still the most scariest idea ever and idk why. Amazing video 👌🔥🔥
Usually the voice acting throws me out of the immersion in analogue horror but this one is INSANE
hey 4 plus, i just want to say i love your content and that you should keep up the good work. your stuff helped me through some tough times so its comforting to watch your videos. :)
Seeing the charlotte-dog amalgamation made my teeth itch
The modeling for the thing very impressive
The “shadow entity” might be referring to Carl Jung shadow
To quote him
“The shadow is a living part of the personality and therefore wants to live with it in some form. It cannot be argued out of existence or rationalized into harmlessness.”
Literally at the second the flashing lights began I got an ad for Cracker Barrel cubed cheese lmao
Hey, i know its all about the horror and all, but imagine COD zombies like game but with those creatures as our enemies, mutating and adapting to the changing map geometry on the fly. Horror monsters would be much harder and epic to fight than just a horde.
That’d be a super dope enemy type in any game tbh that’s a cool ass concept nice idea man
this was one of my favorite series you’ve covered ! if you haven’t checked out “children under the house” , it’s a phenomenal analog horror series , i’d love to hear u talk about it!
Whenever he says tf2 it keeps reminding me of team fortress2
21:41 naaaah bro that’s fucked
9:26 me receiving enormous vietnam flashbacks to skibidi toilet brainrot from the gmod inflator ah face:
I loved the scene with the security company operator watching the past recordings while on the phone with Charlotte. I could feel the tension with him seeing something so horrific but something he couldn't explain and trying to balance urging caution while also not scaring her or sounding crazy. The voice acting and the way the whole scene was shot was brilliant. Has anyone ever done a scene like that in a horror film before?
Bro that scared the crap out of me when the cop looked as fast as possible at the human dog hybrid 21:24
All of these underlying themes are parts of high magick and occult science. Love the references.
I love watching this at 2 AM before trying to go to bed
edit: I regret my decision and I will be going to work sleep deprived
The Parasite (Greylock) is no match for man if he is well organised, eluding to our main man who has survived everything, so in the end he is going to overcome Greylock and probably figure it all out.
That last bit of footage of the creature wasn't live footage, it was the alarm of that night.
The creature was in the building WHILE she went to check on her dogs, and it didnt do anything until after Charlotte was told to gtfo.
That sequence was terrifying, and I love it.
What happened to Charlotte is the definition of a fate worse than death
The heavy is pure genius
5:55 Man I really thought staring into that would do something
Idk why but greylock becomes mt favorite analog horror because of this! My expectation for the next tape will still be the same!
Can't believe an analog horror series released tf3 before Valve did
The visuals in Greylock are some of the best and the guy making this seems to actually understand the format.
Good job getting to 100k, dude!
5:48 for those who want to skip the flashing lights.
CASETTE TAPE TF-2??????!?! LIKE, THE CLASS BASED FPS?????? NO WAY!
really thought it was gonna be worse, man I'm desensitized as FUCK.
"well it was easy until we were presented with this facial expression that I have never seen someone do in my life, and if I did I'd be pretty upset" at 9:18 cracked me up
Best series on this website, hands down. On par with Kane Pixels' work
I like the Oldest View more.
dear god that dog hybrid made my stomach drop
4 plus is always clutch when Im in school and bored
1:53 tf2 mentioned
Man! You did an awesome breakdown of this series. There are things I totally missed that you bridged together for me. Three out of Five Stars... Wouldn't change a thing. lol
I can’t remember the last time I got scared by any horror movie but Greylock really gets me unnerved lol
I'm glad your RUclips is showing on my recommendation keep up the work! :D
i made the mistake of watching this at night, with very immersive headphones, on a giant monitor. while i was watching the part where charlotte went into the shelter with the creature i swear i saw the creature in the corner of my eyes multiple times 😭 scariest shit ever
Dont be afraid.
Damn team fortress two changed a lot since i last playef
i loved the film you talked about in your last video, thanks
(Hears warning)
“Can’t be that bad.”
(Looks)
“aAAH! …wait lemme look more.”
(Looks more)
(Bleaches eyeballs)
This analog horror reminds me of the Tulpa creepypasta
